Impressive Performance and Power Efficiency
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The MacBook Air M1 is a game-changer in the world of laptops, combining exceptional performance, power efficiency, and a sleek design. Apple's transition to its own M1 chip has undoubtedly paid off, delivering an outstanding user experience. One of the most striking aspects of the MacBook Air M1 is its incredible speed. Powered by the M1 chip, it offers a significant performance boost, effortlessly handling demanding tasks like video editing, graphic design, and even gaming. The eight-core CPU and GPU work harmoniously, ensuring smooth multitasking and rendering stunning visuals. What truly sets the MacBook Air M1 apart is its remarkable power efficiency. The M1 chip's architecture, combined with macOS Big Sur's optimization, allows for all-day battery life. With up to 15 hours of web browsing or video playback, this laptop is a reliable companion for on-the-go professionals and students. The design remains sleek and lightweight, with the iconic wedge shape. The 13.3-inch Retina display offers vibrant colors and sharp details, making it a pleasure to work or consume media on. The Magic Keyboard provides a comfortable typing experience, while the Force Touch trackpad remains responsive and precise. Another notable improvement is the silent operation. Thanks to the M1 chip's efficiency, the MacBook Air doesn't require a fan, resulting in a completely noiseless experience even during intensive tasks. As for connectivity, the MacBook Air M1 features two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a high-quality FaceTime HD camera. The addition of Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 ensures fast and reliable wireless connectivity. However, it's worth noting that the MacBook Air M1 is not designed for heavy gaming or professional-grade video editing, as it lacks the dedicated graphics and storage options found in the MacBook Pro models. In conclusion, the MacBook Air M1 is an exceptional laptop that excels in performance, power efficiency, and portability. Its revolutionary M1 chip, combined

An amazing device for College Students
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently found myself enrolling in my local community college and was informed that a laptop was a guaranteed necessity for college. Unless you wanted to borrow from the college or use their computers on campus and while there is nothing wrong with doing either of those. Personally, I’m afraid of breaking or damaging borrowed electronics. So I went down a rabbit hole of possible computers and decided on the Apple 2020 Macbook Air M1. This device is full of power and battery life. One charge lasted me a week of classes while in school and loading times are practically none! The speakers are amazing and I personally think the sound on low settings is enough, so I can imagine it would be too much if I needed to turn it up to full volume. The screen and brightness are amazing and the controller makes turning the brightness up or down along with many other control options very easy. This device is also very portable and pretty lightweight compared to other laptops I’ve had. The M1 chip is an amazing add-on to the already powerful MacBook series. The M1 chip delivers up to 3.5x faster CPU performance, up to 6x faster GPU performance, and up to 15x faster machine learning, all while enabling battery life up to 2x longer than previous-generation Macs. With its profound increase in performance and efficiency. I’m, not the type of person to care too much about graphics, so long as I can see the screen clearly then I’m fine but the M1 chip comes with enhanced graphics that even I can notice the difference on screen. When I’m not doing schoolwork work I like to use my Macbook for watching shows and movies. I’m usually a fan of using my phone to watch shows and movies but ever since I’ve got this Macbook, I’ve resorted to watching my shows on my Laptop since the differences in graphics on my phone and Macbook are very different in my opinion. I even sometimes play video games on my device like Fortnite and web games. While you cannot really download games on a Macbook unless supported, you can use other systems to play games. I personally use GEFORCE and my MacBook runs the game very smoothly. I’m not the gaming type and others might argue the performance of the game on a Macbook is bad but I find it playable. If this incredible performance and graphics come from just the now older M1 chip, then I can only imagine the power of the newer M2 chip. The only cons I find with the device is the USB-C 4 ports. While USB-C is fairly known, it’s not very popular with most people who prefer USB A like myself. The solution is to buy an adapter which sometimes can be pricey. Overall I’d recommend the 2020 Macbook Air M1 to anyone looking for a lightweight powerhouse for light use and for more rigorous technical use. I especially recommend this device to students who are looking for a college-ready laptop.

Excellent new MacBook Air
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice and thin with good build quality. Performance is really good. With the new M1 chip the laptop wakes up immediately from sleep, like the iPad does. It’s quiet since there is no fan inside but haven’t had a problem with heat unlike intel versions. The keyboard is so much better now that they went back to the scissor design. Also no one else can match the trackpad on an Apple laptop. For basic tasks it sips the battery so you can easily get a whole day. If you are looking for something portable with good performance this MacBook is perfect for you.

Well Done Apple
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's everything I expect from a laptop. Plus it gives me all of that with zero fan noise (because there's no fan). Every app opens instantly, the display is awesome, and the battery life is the best around. We're really getting what we pay for with this. I've been trying to figure out what device I want and kept exchanging laptops at Best Buy because I kept running into issues with build quality, performance, and speed with other laptop manufacturers. I'm keeping this. It's everything I want and I'm finally happy with a laptop that meets my needs of what a laptop is supposed to do. Sure some might complain it's only 8GB of RAM. But I've had no issues with performance and had many windows open at a time with all sorts of different programs. I don't think saying oh it's just 8GB of RAM is a valid tech argument in the case with this laptop unless you're in a situation where you are multi-tasking while doing a production job that demands a high amount of RAM dedicated to it. At which point you're a professional and you know full well you should be using a high-end desktop for such a use-case which due to cooling capabilities of desktops will beat out any current laptop on the market. I myself have a desktop for such tasks and use it on occasion as needed. Plus I suspect you can just remote into your desktop from this MacBook Air (if not now then when it's soon supported) to do the same work anyways. The bottom line is this is a well built and well performing laptop that does what you want it to do and gives you what you would expect from a laptop of it's caliber and class.

M1 Macs are a Great Value in 2023
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was tired of using my heavy (but functional) 2009 MacBook Pro, which has dwindled to only about 3 hours of useful battery life. I was also tired of getting kinks in my neck from relying too much on my iPad (yeah, I can stand it up on a cushion but without a keyboard connected I was too often holding it like a bulky iPhone with the neck pain to show for it). I bought this 2020 MacBook Air (M1) because it was a great deal on clearance. In addition to vastly improved battery life — I only have to charge my MacBook Air every other day! — the early Apple Silicone Macs have the advantage of offering Rosetta (which means unlike future M2 models it can, for example, make use of Microsoft Office 2021 that also runs on Intel). I like how fast it is and the quality of the audio speakers and the screen. That said, this MacBook Air M1 freaked me out in that the first time I opened the laptop up it booted right away. I was asking myself if Apple was really crazy enough to eliminate the power button (like they eliminated the floppy disk and the optical drive back in the day, lol) until I realized that the TouchID button on the upper right serves the same purpose. This MacBook Air runs cold and quiet (no heat, no fans). It reminds me of using an iPad in that sense. Everything feels solid and well made. However, I was unprepared for the fact that the MacBook Air, when unboxed for the first time, smelled very strongly like mildew. C'mon Apple, would it kill you to put silica packs in the box considering that these products are made in extremely humid Southeast Asian countries? One negative is that there are only two ports on the side, including the charging port. Coming from the MacBook Pro I am accustomed to having options! I also would caution anyone buying a 2020 or later Mac to realize that everything internally is soldered together. There is nothing replaceable, not even the hard drive. If something fails, it's landfill waste. I guess that's one way to sell more AppleCare! Macs are becoming more and more like iOS devices every day, not just in terms of a similar GUI (macOS) but in terms of how they are constructed internally ("SoC"). I am happy with my first upgrade in many years but I suspect that within a year or so when first-generation Apple Silicone owners begin experiencing hard drive problems and learn that nothing is replaceable, the "honeymoon" will wear off. Apple should offset these changes by offering more generous amounts of RAM and higher hard drive capacity given that none of it is upgradable after the fact. (For example, the model I bought has a skimpy 256GB internal hard drive with 8GB RAM. Apple should offer no less than 512GB and 12GB RAM going forward.) For existing MacBook Air owners, repair/upgrade limitations are nothing new. But given that the M1/M2 extends these. limitations across the entire range of MacBook laptop and desktop products, there is less reason for the average user to buy a MacBook Pro anymore because you're not picking up a slew of extra ports or the ability to make upgrades/repairs internally, unlike the MacBook Pros from the Intel era. All in all if you buy these M1/M2 products in the understanding that they are essentially souped up iPads, you're good.

Bought for School Laptop—even better than expected
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first MacBook I have ever owned. It was a bit of a foreign device for the first few hours of use, but I feel the setup is so intuitive and user friendly it would come very naturally to virtually anybody using it. I bought it as an upgrade from an old laptop that simply was not meeting my needs as a college student and it checks all of my boxes. It’s fast, reliable, easy to use, holds its charge for a great amount of time, is small enough to fit in my backpack, and the keys on the keyboard are quiet. If you’re considering, ESPECIALLY as a school laptop, I think it fits the bill perfectly. It interfaces very neatly with other apple products, which was a draw for me though I didn’t think it’d help as much as it does. I don’t have social media apps on my laptop, so when I get texts while I’m working I can just quickly respond and get right back to work without risking a 2+ hour social media detour. The M1 chip is powerful enough to easily get through any school work I have (quizzes, exams, papers) and, with the M2 chip now out in the most current MacBook Air, the M1 is priced at what I feel to be entirely reasonable for the device you get. It is absolutely still expensive, but you get what you pay for with tech. My former laptop (a chromebook) was a fraction of the price, with a fraction of the capability. Love love love this laptop, and highly recommend it to anybody considering it.

Perfect
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently picked up a MacBook Air with the M1 chip from my local Best Buy, and I’ve got to say, I’m really impressed with this machine. Walking into the store, I wasn’t 100% sold on it—I’d heard the hype about the M1 chip, but I wanted to see it for myself. The staff were super helpful, let me mess around with a demo unit, and after about 10 minutes of playing with it, I was ready to take one home. I went with the 13.3-inch model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD in Space Gray—kept it simple since I mostly use it for work, streaming, and some light photo editing. First off, the in-store experience at Best Buy was smooth. They had it in stock, and I walked out with it in like 15 minutes—no delays, no hassle. The price felt fair, too, especially since I caught it during a small sale, which knocked a bit off the usual $999 tag. Unboxing it at home, the design hit me right away—super sleek, lightweight, and that Retina display is just gorgeous. It’s crazy how something this thin can feel so solid. Performance-wise, the M1 chip lives up to the buzz. This thing boots up in seconds, apps open instantly, and I’ve yet to hear the fan kick in—not that the Air even has one. I’ve had a dozen Chrome tabs open, Spotify playing, and Photoshop running, and it doesn’t even flinch. Battery life is wild, too. I charged it fully when I got it, and after a few days of regular use, I still had juice left. Probably get a solid 15-18 hours out of it, which is a game-changer compared to my old laptop that needed a plug every few hours. Overall, buying this MacBook M1 from Best Buy was a solid move. It’s fast, reliable, and feels like it’ll last me years. If you’re on the fence, I’d say go for it—especially if you can snag it in-store and skip the shipping wait. Five stars from me.

The best keeps getting better!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 11 year old MacBook Air hadn’t died yet, but I was concerned about how difficult it might be to start all over on a new one… if I waited until it didn’t work anymore. I heard that it wasn’t as simple as an IOS devise (iPhone, iPad). I’ve had old phones completely die, and then get a new one and easily moved everything from iCloud. When I saw how cheap the new ones were ($899 on sale at Best Buy vs $1299 when I bought my last one 11 years ago) I decided it was time (actually, it was easy. The new mac walked me through transferring my preferences, apps, documents, etc. from the old Mac via a peer to peer on my home WI-FI). I was sold on the flash storage on the old MacBook Air (vs the slower, but larger mechanical hard disks), but the larger flash storage combined with Apple’s new M1 chips are absolutely AMAZING! This thing is INSTANT ON! The retina display is a great improvement too! Apparently, the new M1 chip runs so efficiently that the battery seems to last forever. Plus, they dissipate heat through metal to completely eliminate the need for a fan (I don’t miss the fan noise and the slowdown I used to get when the computer was doing a lot of work). They made the outside dimensions smaller without really changing much for the user. The screen size is the same 13” but has less metal around it. Somehow... it still seems strong. The trackpad is larger too. I should try to find something negative to say as well. I miss the tradition “look” of the lighted logo, but I read that they removed it for good reason (but, that actually did more for Apple than for me). There appears to be a problem with sharing high resolution YouTube videos on my Apple TV. It changes the resolution on my computer and shrinks everything… including the text and buttons down to the point that I have to go get a magnifying glass to see or read anything at all... and return the resolution to the normal usable setting. I'm pretty sure that there will be a software fix in a future update to address this issue. Other than the Apple TV issue, almost everything about this MacBook Air is better… and by a LOT! It’s a heck of a deal!

Awesome Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Mac. I bought for my wife (she’s the guinea pig). He last computer was purchased in 2012 and was an HP with an I3. It still works, but has the typically Windows slowdown and poor battery life. This laptop has fantastic battery life and a blazing fast M1 chip. It’s light and Mac OS feels very light and airy. So far we are getting adjusted just fine and it’s proven to be a great purchase. The price is great too. Good luck finding an Intel machine with this kind of power and battery life at this price. I highly recommend it!

Awesome laptop...M1 chip was worth the wait!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve used a MacBook Pro for work for years, but this is my first Apple laptop for home use. I waited for the release with the M1 chip, and have not been disappointed one bit! I use it for normal everyday use...Office products, internet, video streaming...but also occasionally will do some photo or video editing. This new MacBook Air handles everything with no problems whatsoever. It is crisp, fast, responsive, and handles everything easily. No fan — no problem. This machine never gets warm. Retina display looks great, the magic keyboard is indeed magical...I actually hate typing on my 2017 Pro for work after using my new Air. Is it perfect? No. The webcam is still not great (although fine for what we use it for), and only 2 ports is not near enough. If you’re doing heavy duty video encoding you might consider the Pro, but the Air is more than powerful enough for general everyday use and more. We have iPhones, iPads, Apple TV, so this obviously integrates smoothly into the Apple ecosystem. Using Airdrop to share files or images throughout our home makes me wonder why I didn’t make this change sooner. My local Best Buy was out of the color I wanted, but ordering online was a breeze and it was delivered to my door the next day. I was in the market for a new laptop for about a year, and I’ll tell you this was worth the wait. Couldn’t be happier!

I will go to Apple to see if they will cover the limited 1 year warranty or not. My son is disappointed. So am I. He did take good care of it. Great daily driver
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The MacBook Air is a slim, lightweight laptop that offers excellent portability and a sleek design. It has a high-quality Retina display that delivers crisp, clear visuals, making it ideal for tasks such as photo and video editing. Additionally, the keyboard is comfortable to type on, and the trackpad is smooth and responsive. One of the standout features of the MacBook Air is its battery life, which can last up to 12 hours on a single charge, depending on usage. This makes it an excellent choice for people who need to work on the go and don't want to be tethered to a power outlet. The MacBook Air also boasts a powerful M1 chip, which provides fast performance and seamless multitasking. It runs macOS, which is known for its user-friendly interface and reliability. However, there are a few downsides to consider. The MacBook Air only has two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, which may be limiting for some users who need to connect multiple peripherals simultaneously. Additionally, while the M1 chip provides excellent performance, it may not be compatible with certain older software programs. Overall, the MacBook Air is an excellent choice for people who value portability, sleek design, and reliable performance. Its long battery life and powerful M1 chip make it a standout option in the laptop market.
