Her previous job she was used to using Apple products. Based on past experience, I thought she would be able to use this and keep it useful for much longer so far is working out very well.

Older models are sturdier. But protection plan

Within 3 days of purchasing the MacBook air, the screen cracked. We did not buy the Apple protection plan, which I now recommend to anyone that they should purchase this. We had to pay $500 to replace the screen. The technician says that he sees this all the time on the new MacBook airs because all it takes is for the computer to be squeezed, like it gets from being in a backpack. It wasn't dropped. Just squeezed, and that broke the screen. So Apple is making products with built in weaknesses in order to make even more money when customers have to buy replacement screens.
