I bought it as a gift for myself as I’m entering college. Downfall is it doesn’t have word but I have that provided through my college. I loved the color and it doesn’t heat up like other laptops. Battery life is pretty long too.

Older models are sturdier. But protection plan

Within 3 days of purchasing the MacBook air, the screen cracked. We did not buy the Apple protection plan, which I now recommend to anyone that they should purchase this. We had to pay $500 to replace the screen. The technician says that he sees this all the time on the new MacBook airs because all it takes is for the computer to be squeezed, like it gets from being in a backpack. It wasn't dropped. Just squeezed, and that broke the screen. So Apple is making products with built in weaknesses in order to make even more money when customers have to buy replacement screens.

Get the M2 instead. It has a brighter screen

If I were to do it again, I would get the M2 version because it's supposed to have a brighter screen. This screen is nice, but hard to see movies in a room filled with daylight. (for a middle-aged person)

I am impressed with this laptop. It has everything I need and the Apple ecosystem is second to none. This laptop just works and makes portability so much easier. I have absolutely zero regrets for this purchase and I highly recommend it.
