Super love it!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve always been an Apple fan. I’ve had iPhones and iPads but this is my first MacBook. Love it so far! Just took time to get used to as I am more used to windows but it is very user friendly. Google and YouTube have been my friends when I have random questions. I love that I can sync stuff with my iPhone or iPad, and I love that I don’t have to purchase Microsoft office. Pages can be converted to Word, keynote can be converted to PowerPoint, etc. I always thought before that MacBook is overpriced, but I feel you get what you pay for. Overall, battery, performance and all is great!

Is 8GB enough?
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing speed, even through Rosetta 2 translation. However, I found that opening certain combinations of stuff such as a second monitor (because the video memory uses the unified memory, VS Code, Github, 4 tabs of chrome, and DataGrip made this computer a bit sluggish (as to be expected). I would be using 8-10 GB of swap. I've since then upgraded to the 13" pro with 16gb, and then the 14" pro with 16gb. Its super fast CPU and fast swap storage didn't compensate for the 8GB, as I foolishly thought it would.

Perfect for Medical School!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect for med students. The device is light and easily portable with a long battery life - I am able to go through a whole day of lectures from 8am to 8pm without recharging the device. Has a good amount of storage - the speed and functionality of the device are not compromised by the large use of storage that I can tell so far. I find that 8GB of RAM is sufficient enough for med school especially if you save everything to the cloud/office365/Google Drive. The only downside is unable to have different lock screen wallpaper from desktop wallpaper.

Perfect for college
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s an excellent laptop for college. It starts up really fast, battery can last a good 2-3 days with no charging, you can have multiple tabs and editing applications open with no overheating and you don’t even have to worry about the fan going off like a helicopter in the middle of class since it has a chip. Overall, it’s a 10/10 for me.

Quietest Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love using this laptop. Its an excellent computer with beyond imaginable battery life. If you use the laptop for anything other than games for video editing, the battery fully charged will last you days. Its so good. Nothing else out there comes close to this computer. Also, if you are coming from an older Intel Mac or Windows laptop, you will immediately notice the silence. I cannot stand using any other laptop now because the fan noise from everything else is just so loud. This Macbook Air is dead silent. Just a great machine to use!

Amazing
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WORKS VERY WELL I love my Macbook. I’ve had numerous Windows PCs and laptops, I’ve also been a heavy Linux laptop and PC user, and I use Linux+Unix professionally at work all day long, as well as using Windows in my job. I’ve been a programmer for > 30 years, so lots of exposure to computers. The aesthetic of the Mac is just different — more polished and smooth, it has a unity of design that crosses over between software and hardware and appearance — the way that things are worked out with fine attention to detail so that the device doesn’t get in your way, but allows you to blend with the work… it’s difficult to break that down into individual lists of features. Any of these 3 operating systems can be laid down on high-quality hardware and will get most of the same jobs done. But the Macbook is like driving a well-polished sports car, while anything that isn’t a Mac shows its rivets and screwheads to the driver. Not bad, and you can get by like that for years without missing anything, but when you make friends with the Mac you just don’t want to go back.

Great MacBook for the Price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little "entry level" Macbook has effectively been a full recording studio for me for the last several months or so and, while there are certain things you have to work around like the 8GBs of RAM and the incredibly small 256GB storage, it has been almost completely trouble-free. Very portable, very powerful, only thing I would change would be that next time I will get a larger display. It hasn't had any real issues with Logic, plug-ins, web surfing, video editing, or any of the other things people typically buy a Mac for. I love this thing and will likely upgrade to a newer Macbook Air within the next year. That being said, for being 5 years old, this thing is fast and keeps up well with the projects I'm working on.

Not what I expected
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was told that this Mac Book Air with the M1 chip was similar to the 2018 MacBook Pro Interl I5; however, I had to exchange it after a few hours of usage. The Air is mainly designed for very simple web searching and emails. Although, I do not do any photo or video editing, I do surf the web and have multiple tabs open, I like switching to emails, attachments and listen to music. When you do all these things the computer slows down, which is considerably noticeable. Switching to the MacBook Pro M1 was a totally different experience. The computer runs buttery smooth, the keyboard is amazing, the camera is top notch, but I am overall impressed with the performance. It was totally worth spending the extra money to upgrade. However, if you are going to do simple web searches and emails, the Air is good enough, but would not recommend as a work laptop or if you are a person that has many programs open. The 8GH memory is just not enough, you need 16GH that the Pro offers in order to have a smooth experience.
