This is probably the best laptop i've purchased in the past twenty years. This model is just about 3 years old and it outperforms pretty much everyone on the market by leaps and bounds. And from what I can see it is a better deal than the current generation of MacBook Air's! This M1 chip is a leap beyond and is meant to last for years. Great for lightweight school work. The M1 chip may require workarounds for some familiar applications. Vendors of the most popular applications have released or working on native versions. Rosetta 2 (installs automatically by MacOS when needed) allows running non-native applications, but it's not perfect. The MacBook Air may not have the horsepowers for some heavy developers or designers. In which case, the new M1 Pro and M1 Max machines might be a better choice. However, these laptops have the same architectural constraints of an M1-based MacBook Air.

The battery life on this is so good ans its really fast and cool at the same time

Bought this for my daughter when she switched over to homeschooling. This computer is great. Connection works great, it came with all the programs she needed to complete her school work with ease, great sound quality, picture perfect, and plenty of memory space. This new 2020 MacBook Air M1 was a gift to a single mother. It is blazingly fast on the internet, handles all Microsoft Office applications easily and seamlessly syncs photos, e-mails and texts with the iPhone. Battery life is all day strong. This base model, with 8-core M1 CPU, 7-core GPU, 8GB integrated RAM and 256GB SSD will work for many years too come.

Love this MacBook!!! Battery life is good as always. Just make sure to get a laptop case for it. It does scratch easily - but the case is an easy fix.
