This thing is great. I'm a 3D model amateur who uses Blender. I also write a lot of code. To summarize, I am a power user. Blender works really really well. The only instance where I found this computer's limit was RAM-related tasks, such as fluid simulations, which I have never seen a laptop handle that. It did everything else with ease. Sure, rendering in cycles is slower than an RTX-powered PC, but it still does the job fine. (Note: I do not think it is a good idea to render on an M1 chip, as it is unknown at this time what putting it under 100% load for long periods of time. With that said, I'm gonna keep doing it.) Also, can we talk about battery life?! This thing lasts forever! I honestly charge it every couple of days if I'm just writing code! If I, a power user, can fully utilize this thing with my insane workflows then you can absolutely justify getting this. I'd like to point out the 2 flaws though: One external display without some crazy expensive accessories. 256GB Storage isn't ideal for me, but hey, I didn't want to shell out $250 to double that storage. I picked up a Samsung T5 SSD to cover that issue. If you need a new computer, this is the one. No question about it. I have recommended this computer to so many people since I bought it early this year.

The best Mac for the everyday user on the go!

Do you want the best Mac for use at home at the best price? Get a Mac mini M1 and round it out with your own peripherals. Need to do some casual browsing, games, emails and shopping? Get an iPad--literally any iPad. Even the entry-level one. Need the best of of both? Get this laptop. It has crazy-long battery life. Fantastic performance for all the basic-medium level tasks. All in a thin and light package on the go. Could you make do with an iPad Pro? Yeah, but it's nice to have the stability of the keyboard built-in with the heft of a metal chassis as opposed to a keyboard case and also MacOS for whatever program you need to use for productivity or work. With the M1 processor you get power and battery life in a nice balance so for the average user this is a great product if you NEED to be in the Apple ecosystem. Otherwise get a Chromebook or Windows laptop. With that said, MacBooks tend to last many years and hold their value well. I have spotted it on sale here at Best Buy as low as $750 but overthought it, missed out and then jumped on it at $799 a few months later. Safe to say it's been a great product for my stated use-case and if you can catch it on sale it's a Best Buy!

PROS: 1. This is a great laptop for students or individuals in the workforce who don't want to lug around a large, heavy unit. 2. The screen resolution is amazing. 3. The speed is excellent with the M1 chip. 4. The keyboard is much easier to use for folks with average-sized hands and fingers. CONS: 1. As usual with an Apple product--price (although the student price on the MacBook Air 13.3 isn't too breath stopping). 2. LACK OF PORTS for peripherals! I think this is a way for Apple to gouge the buyers of their laptops and tablets. You have to spend $$$ for peripherals in order to use Lightning/USB items you already have if you need more than 1 port. 3. A free set of equivalent Microsoft Office programs is loaded with the latest OS, however, if you want the original MS Office suite, you have to get the Home and Business version in order to get Outlook. (More $$$) 4. By the time you add up the cost of the laptop, peripherals, additional software, and taxes, what seemed like a good deal really isn't. Thanks for nothing Apple.

The MacBook Air has always been a light and easily portable choice for Mac users. The “Late 2020” model is all that, but lighter, thinner, and even easier to use. Based on Apple’s new M1 CPU, this generation of Macs is very different from the prior generations of Intel-based computers. The M1 MacBook Air has 8GB of “shared memory,” but where that might be a limitation in an Intel Mac, it’s definitely more than enough for this machine! This MacBook Air model is fast, responsive, and really easy to use. It has only two ports: two USB4/Thunderbolt (USB-C) ports for charging and any peripherals you might need. We bought a USB-C hub to allow the use of a USB-3 external drive for Time Machine backups, watching movies with an external DVD drive and so on. Sure, you could do those things wirelessly (including watching digital versions of those movies), but we wanted to avoid wireless bandwidth bottlenecks. Finally, the MacBook/MacBook Air line has evolved from a plain aluminum case (gorgeous, but kind of bland nowadays) to aluminum or Space Gray, to finally adding a gold option. Since it’s my wife’s primary computer (and a late Christmas present), we went with gold. ;)

The M1 MacBook Air is amazing. It has the power to run all my applications with no lag. I was initially concerned since the device doesn't have a fan. I know that in order to conserve resources the laptop will slow down certain apps. I have had the laptop for over a month and never experienced any issue or slow down. I have been on FaceTime while uploading video with no discernible lag. I have owned MacBooks for over 11 years. This model is by far the best I have ever used. Apple has made immense strides with the new M1 chip. The battery life is amazing. I use my computer six to eight hours a day. Even with that, I only have to charge the laptop twice a week at most. It's great to be able to go outside and work in the yard and not have to drag cords along. I love my MacBook Air and for the price, it's a phenomenal value.

This little "entry level" Macbook has effectively been a full recording studio for me for the last several months or so and, while there are certain things you have to work around like the 8GBs of RAM and the incredibly small 256GB storage, it has been almost completely trouble-free. Very portable, very powerful, only thing I would change would be that next time I will get a larger display. It hasn't had any real issues with Logic, plug-ins, web surfing, video editing, or any of the other things people typically buy a Mac for. I love this thing and will likely upgrade to a newer Macbook Air within the next year. That being said, for being 5 years old, this thing is fast and keeps up well with the projects I'm working on.

I bought this Macbook to replace my laptop as it has been slowing down to its age. I wasn't expecting much for this purchase, but I was blown away at how fast it is. I know it's only a slight difference on how much time it saves, but it adds up. Not having to wait on processes or pages to catch up has been incredibly refreshing. I haven't had a chance to fully explore its features, but aside from its speed, the display is beautiful and its ability to adapt to harsh sunlight makes it the perfect choice to be my daily carry. Lastly, the battery life is amazing. I always carry a charger but this laptop lasts for days between charges despite its constant use. If you're looking for a solid laptop for work or school, I feel like this is the best choice for its price.

Daughter loves this MacBook, got them on sale and ease of use with all applications and the form factor make it an easy choice for reliable laptop that’s not going crap out on your kid and end up having to buy another one. M1 chip made a huge difference, battery lasts forever, doesn’t weigh anything and the screen is perfect for the price point.

I switched from a 27" iMac desk top to this little lap top. I thought it would be a hard adjustment, but I'm loving everything about it. Compatible with all my devices, fast, lightweight, long-lasting battery, great looking! I've always had trouble using track pads, but this one is just right!

Laptop is super fast and battery life is solid. The computer boots up really quick. If you are looking at the M2 chips in the new models do not let that deter you from the M1 model, still have no performance issues with M1. My wife loves the gold color. Very happy with purchase.

Bought this as an experiment fully expecting to return it and now I love it. Runs Microsoft 365 apps, Slack and Zoom super fast. Triple the battery life of my Windows laptops and super light. Only a few downsides for me. Using it to connect to Windows shared drives is slow and file management (copy and paste weirdness. I knew this beforehand which is one reason I didn’t think I’d keep it). Also the inability to run all my iPad apps and of course no touch screen (another reason I thought I’d return it but I got used to it). Highly recommend.

All my past laptops have been Windows based. Took a while to figure out the MacOS system. Purchased because I bought a GoPro and there is more editing software that is Apple based. This laptop is fast, light, and runs quite. So far it does the job of editing my GoPro video. I just wish the screen was 4K.

The first one I got the screen messed up after 1 week, Best Buy exchanged it with no problems. The second one has worked great so far. It’s really fast, it’s light, it was on sale, so it was a really great value. Long battery life, it’s on all day, I do not have to worry about plugging it in during my work day at all.
