Best budget laptop for everyday editing and use

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't think it's necessary to buy a Mac book pro at this point unless you edit very high quality photos or videos, and even then, M1 chip MacBook air does pretty much the same exact things a pro does. They display is pretty much the only difference. The battery is awesome!

Mean machine

And it doesn’t get hot! I thought you could only get one or the other, but this thing has it all. And I love that it’s sturdy enough to be in a soft case and ride strapped crossbody to me on my motorcycle. I would definitely buy again, but, with the M1 chip, it’s going to be viable for years.

Very happy with my purchase, the integration with the Apple Watch and iPhone are great

Is 8GB enough?

However, I found that opening certain combinations of stuff such as a second monitor (because the video memory uses the unified memory, VS Code, Github, 4 tabs of chrome, and DataGrip made this computer a bit sluggish (as to be expected). I would be using 8-10 GB of swap. I've since then upgraded to the 13" pro with 16gb, and then the 14" pro with 16gb. Its super fast CPU and fast swap storage didn't compensate for the 8GB, as I foolishly thought it would.
