Simply Blown Away
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, let me start this by saying that I was super skeptical when I first heard about the new M1 chips being released by Apple. I figured like years past, this would be a minuscule upgrade, with nothing significantly different. But, after seeing some reviews on this where people were stating they were blown away with the amount of performance they were seeing, I had to give it a look. I am glad I did. I will preface this by stating that my journey to finding the "perfect" laptop has been a long one. I came from a 2015 MB Pro that I had for approx. 2 years before it died, upgraded to a 2017 MB Pro with Touch Bar which had been my daily driver for about 3 years. I have always been underwhelmed with the 2017 MB Pro's performance as it always froze up opening the most basic task, and you could forget about photo or video editing. Not exactly living up to the "Pro" in the name. So, when looking for a new laptop I decided to give Windows a try. After returning a HP Spectre X360 for quality control issues, I settled on a Lenovo Yoga C940, but still found flaws: overheating, thermal throttling, crashing apps and terrible, terrible battery life. I ended up switching back to the MB Pro despite that its age is showing. I am stuck with a Lenovo that I cannot return. Buyer's remorse, indeed. Cut to a few days ago, I on a whim decided to give this MBA a try. I thought I would be "downgrading" by not getting a Pro, but I am a college student on a budget, and I had hopes that this computer would fit my needs and I wouldn't have to shell out the extra money for more performance. I am glad I opted for the MBA. I can see why the MBA is popular among college students: it's lightweight, fantastic battery life, and the "wedge" shape adds to a better, more ergonomic typing experience, which is important to me as I type essays and assignments very regularly. So, to get down to the nitty-gritty. Can it perhaps be my everyday, everything, every use-case computer? I can safely say yes. The performance on this blows my $1600 Lenovo with 16GB of Ram and Intel 10th gen i7 out of the water. I can have multiple Safari tabs going, iTunes in the background, Adobe Photoshop or Premeire Pro running at the same time and it doesn't even break a sweat. To say that I was blown away is an understatement. This little 8GB ram, 3.2 Ghz M1 MBA is making most higher-end workhorse computers look weak. Another thing I love? It's fanless! One of my biggest pet-peeves are laptops with terrible fan noise and poor heat management. On this, it is not an issue. No fan? No problem! Stays nice and cool, and no fan noise. IDK how Apple managed it. Also, the improved keyboard is a nice change from the butterfly keyboard issues my 2017 MB Pro was plagued with. I can actually type on this one and not feel like my fingers are hitting bottom. The speakers, for such a thin and light laptop, are fairly decent as well. Decent stereo separation and punchy. Could do with more bass. But again, small computer, small speaker drivers. To be expected. The screen is also good, covers my needs for photo and video editing with a good amount of color accuracy. No complaints. I cannot attest to the webcam as I don't use it, but I am sure it will do in a pinch. To sum up: great computer, great value. Unless you are editing videos 24/7, I would recommend this one over the new MB Pro. Save some $. This thing can handle anything you have to throw at it. I have a very demanding work-flow as a graphics design student and I am simply blown away. Would definitely not hesitate to recommend to anyone in the market for a new daily driver.

Best computer I’ve purchased
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As with most Apple products they performed seamlessly with my other Apple products and very easy to use. Great size and amazing battery life. Best part is it doesn’t over heat even using on my lap and zero fan sound!

The best laptop experience I've had.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this MacBook Air for 3 weeks now and it far exceeded my expectations. I heard all the reports of how good the M1 chipset is and they were correct. It's fast, programs open right away, rendering videos in iMovie is much quicker than my 2019 MacBook Pro 13". The battery lasts all day. No fan = no fan noise. I'm not missing the Touch Bar at all. My two year old MacBook Pro is becoming very lonely. No regrets at all

Happy wife, happy life.
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife loved her little 12" MacBook, but that thing was so under powered it was a joke. She upgraded a few years later to a 13" MacBookPro but didn't love the added bulk. BUT She has been in love with her new M1 MacBookAir. Its so lite, so fast, and ZERO fan noise. Before she would watch a youtube video call and it sounded like an airplane taking off. This new laptop is everything she needs and more.

Great
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since yesterday, I’ve been running some difficult tasks and I still haven’t heard the fan noise. Using my old 16” MacBook, the fans would kick in as soon as I start some software. With the M1 pro, nothing. Battery life is excellent, screen is excellent. Apple really knocked it out of the park with this computer.

The M1 is a game changer!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my new Air! The M1 is definitely a game changer as well. Lightning fast response and no loud fan noise. I’m able to run photoshop and Lightroom and edit 4K footage in FC.

cooler, no literally I mean temperature.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surprisingly, my favorite features are the fingerprint unlock and lack of fan. I didn't realize how loud my old laptop was until I saw how quiet this one is. Also doesn't heat up in your lap. Camera is not that great.

I do NOT miss the fan noise...
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first MacBook - held off for Apple Silicon and fan-less design. Far cry from the (failed) 12" MacBook - this one is a keeper. My choice was between this one and a Dell XPS13 at almost double the price (albeit with double RAM). Who knew that fan noise would be the deal breaker?

a great improvement
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.not that anything was wrong with the previous models, but my wife had a MacBook air from like 2013, so when it came time for her to upgrade this was the best choice to upgrade to. File transferring is made easy from old to new, and you don't have to hear a loud fan all the time now.

Silent powerhouse
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Incredible power in this little laptop. I went with the MacBook Air because everything I read indicated that they were only a few points apart in most benchmarks and the air has no fans. No fans equals no noise.

Nice laptop for light activity!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 1st MacBook moving from windows based system. The laptop is good for basic day to day activity, however once the fan comes on it feels like a helicopter is taking off. Other than that no complaints ad would recommend for light activity like watching movies, browsing, etc.
