Where are the ports???
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new MacBook Air works great but the fact that it only has two ports is disappointing. No USB port! Only two ports that accommodate the charger or accessories you con purchase to use USB, HDMI or other ports. I wish it had been pointed out to me.

Quality Apple Product and Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first MacBook purchase, but not my first Apple product. When looking for a new laptop I was planning to stick with Windows, however, I have an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and other miscellaneous Apple products, so why not switch to Apple. I have quite enjoyed this laptop. The screen is crisp and with minimal bezel. The touchpad is responsive, and I have gotten use to to having to fully click it in order to press on something. The keyboard's keys have enough travel that it does not make it uncomfortable nor cramp my fingers and can feel super satisfying. It is also nice to have a backlit keyboard, although for the price, the laptop should have a nice backlit keyboard. The computer can handle having multiple tabs open well without draining the battery or becoming overheated. Also, it handles light gaming; although with The Sims 4, with multiple expansions, the computer got hot soon and caused some worry (although there was minimal lag and problems). Battery life is also nice; I use the laptop mostly for video streaming, research, writing and light gaming, and I feel like I have to charge it maybe three times a week. Quite awesome. The laptop is also quite simple to use after you throw out everything you know about Windows computers. There are only a couple things in which bothered me. First is how to turn the backlit keyboard on, and adjust the brightness. I'm someone who likes to explore computer systems, but for some reason it took me a while to figure out where to find it. Maybe I am being picky, but I would have liked physical keys located on the keyboard rather than have to go through multiple steps on the screen. The second was the price point. Do not get me wrong, I know you pay for quality and this laptop feels like and performs like quality. However, for some higher end Windows computers at the same price point, you can get so much MORE: more ram, more memory, better processing speeds, better speakers... etc. Again, you are paying for a solid machine, with a strong name behind it, with quite a large ecosystem (closed but large, nonetheless), but I guess quality, battery life and longevity can over come the price point. Overall, I have enjoyed using this laptop and would get another Apple laptop in the future when necessary. Do I recommend? Yes, to someone who wants a quality laptop with a fabulous battery life to use for streaming, web surfing and word documents. The laptop is not for someone who wants to use it for gaming. (I do not do photo or video editing, so I can not speak that use.) Plus the laptop is beautiful, especially in Gold.

Speed!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, let me say this is an excellent computer, and I love it. My primary motivation for purchasing was to increase the speed of video editing and movie project rendering/production. I upgraded from a late 2017 MacBook Air with a 2.2 GHz dual-core i7 Intel processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. It was great, except for the extended time it took for movie processing in iMovie. My other reasons to upgrade were that I found 128GB too small for my needs, and Office 365 applications took forever to open. All my expectations have been fulfilled. Speedy! Additional benefits are the Retina display, the Force touch trackpad, the Fingerprint reader, and improved speakers/sound output. I am sorry that I lost the SD card slot and the USB 3 ports of my previous Mac. I had to purchase a USB-C dock to attach an external USB drive and to read SD cards from my camera. One other picky nuisance for me is that the headphone jack on the 2017 machine was on the left side. On the 2020 machine it is positioned on the right side, which causes a problem for me because the earbud/headphone connection and cord get in the way of my mouse movements to some degree. What can I say? But, really, this new laptop is great. I am very happy with it.

Nice Little Computer with Much Power and Potential
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Razor thin and impressive looking. Only drawback is you need deft hands to open it; it is so solid. There is a little lip you need to lift in the front center. Long battery, Nice visuals. Excellent fast OS with ultra-quick boot-up. Was skeptical about small about of SSD HD but the philosophy is that everything is going cloud anyway.

Get the 16GB RAM model
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great laptop with one caveat - the 8GB model isn't very good. It constantly has to rely on the SSD "swap" and it. will. hang. Get the 16GB and you'll be very happy. A snappy processor, a great form factor, great keyboard, decent screen. Really good battery life.

Another Mac hit!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop is all what is said to be. The new chip is a great improvement, being fast and able to handsomely multitask. The Wi-Fi and wireless printing capability is superb, of course I am using a new generation HP printer. The Retina display is wonderful, bright and crisp! As with all other iMac computers, you will need an adaptor in order to connect your memory sticks or other electronics (USB formats) to input in the side of the laptop. Window products run just fine but Microsoft being who they are, only make available limited or older functions for the iMacs. I am greatly satisfied with my computer and will amply recommend.

A great little laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good. I haven't had any issues with any existing software not working with the new M1 chip. I do wish I could add more storage and ram should I want to later. Unless Apple ever goes back to allowing that to happen, which is unlikely, be sure to plan for the future now when it comes to drive size and memory. That's the only reason for my 4 star rating instead of 5. Of course, you can always add an external drive for more storage. But make sure you have enough ram when you buy the computer. Other than that, it is a terrific laptop.

Should of gone to Apple years ago
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stepping away from the PC word after 30+ years was initially challenging- similar commands use different keys but old dogs can learn new tricks. Make sure you get 512 or more of memory -256 will NOT cut it unless you have NO need for storage. I love the instant on Vs the slower warm up and configure mindset of PCs. Airbook essentially is all iCloud based with minimal onboard storage. You get 5 gb of apple storage backup etc free & can buy more. Look into external drive storage OR most anti virus software had more storage free near 100 gb from my Norton. Btwn iCloud/iTunes /Norton/Google it’s fairly easy to split backup of data/pics and Music if managed/setup properly

MacBook Air Saves Busy Grandma
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great size for easy portability, enough space on the keyboard, has a space for headphones, and clear, bright screen. On the down side, it doesn't have Normal USB slots. You have to purchase a separate cord to convert the USB-C (I think that's what you use to charge an iPhone) to a normal USB. I also purchased a Magic Mouse because I dislike trackpads. Overall, I'm very glad I bought this laptop. I'm a grandmother transporting it back and forth to care for my grandkids and do volunteer work. I can work on the same document on my big Mac desktop and this laptop with iCloud! Very convenient. Works for Zoom meetings, too, but Big Mac has better sound and video, but bigger price tag and not portable.

Great Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My girlfriend love the computer. She had the 2018 Air and she said this is noticeably faster. Bought this with 512 GB HD. The 128 on the older air is not big enough to update to Big Sur :(

Great for schoolwork! Overpriced internals!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife loves it! The new M1 processor seems to be able to keep up with everything we have asked of it so far. I've never been much of an Apple fan but for schoolwork or for your business you really can't go wrong here. I am only going with 4 stars because they are overcharging for the internals and ssd size.

Review from the perspective of Cubase/Windows User
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I really wanted to love this computer. Sadly it fell short in handling music productions apps. I loaded it with Reason 11, Cubase elements 11, Cubase pro 8 and a few Vsts like Avenger. Reason opened and played fine, though it did have trouble running Avenger; I made a tweak in the settings and made it work! Cubase on the other hand did not do well at all, Cubase elements showed a pink screen the entire time and creating new projects was impossible. Loaded Cubase Pro 8 and that managed to open but had some glitchy graphics, the UI kept bugging out specially when moving the pointer over certain areas of the window. Garage band and Logic played fine, they opened Avenger well but had trouble opening Reason rack as a plugin and crashed with a dialog box in each instance. As mentioned above I really wanted to love this computer but the shortcomings in regards to running my apps of choice didn't give me peace of mind. Also coming from the Windows OS side of things I felt that the MacOS is a bit less intuitive than Windows in some regards. For in Windows you can do a lot within the My Computer folder but I felt that the Finder tab in Mac was just not up to par. It felt like more work to dig through folders and vsti pathways to see if my expansions installed. The machine is of good build, looks attractive, has plently of accessory options, and may excell as a general everyday computer, not to mention it boots up with that nostalgic chime! At the moment though it does not play well with Cubase even through Rosetta. Also I failed to mention that the battery performance is really affected when running a midi keyboard and mouse through it. The fact that you need to plug in an extra adapter to even run the keyboard through USB A may drain even more power. In the end though I would recommed this computer to those who would use it for general everyday purposes. For people running Cubase or other music software I would be warry; you may be better of with a macbro pro (not sure though). At least until all apps are optimized for ARM. So sad that it didnt work out, really gave it a chance but in the end it just didn't work out. Returned it two days after purchase. Going with a Galaxybook Flex (we'll see how that goes)

Attractive, convenient, reliable
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a pretty great laptop. I am very satisfied with my purchase. Although the screen is way smaller than I am used to, it also makes it more compatible. The only annoying thing about this laptop is that you need special adapters to plug in USBs or any sort of hookup. But overall very happy with my purchase! ☺️

Overall a good laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Concerned about the SSD write issue for M1 Macs. Otherwise it's an impressive laptop. I've been using Windows (since 20 years) and Linux (since 7-8 years) and I feel Mac is best of both worlds. It's definitely way better than Windows. Mac OS is not as flexible as Linux but it does have some Windows like trackpad gestures and OS stability. TLDR: Buy after Apple fixes the SSD write issue.

No USB slots
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish this computer had USB slots and other things that other computers have. I have tried to find an adapter to use with this computer to be able to connect my Iphone or USB cords, I can't find any that works - even the adapter the Apple has on Amazon. I am disappointed for that reason. I don't know how to make this computer compatible with other electronics.

8GB RAM not worth the headache down the road
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The standard 8GB RAM is just plain cheap from Apple. The laptop pages consistently with no additional application installed. Based on the high SSD usage for paging the SSD would more likely fail sooner than the life expectancy for this laptop. I returned it and got a BTO from Apple so I can get the 16GB RAM version.
