What's with the plug?

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been driving MacBooks / Power Books for 2 decades and this is the first I've given only 4 stars. The reason is the plug into the computer. After designing the world's best "break-away" charger which has kept the computer off the floor for all these years, Apple goes back in time to a hard plug which doesn't "break-away" and now the computers are going back on the floor when the cord gets tripped over. Regressive thinking! Also, I wonder who thought removing the fixed volume control keys was a good idea. I'm of mixed feelings about the "Magic Bar", it's too gimmicky. Other than that it's the usual fine quality MacBook you would expect in every other regard.

My new Macbook Pro M1 Chip

Regarding Apple - with the M1 chip Macbook Pro - what were they thinking to remove all ‘ports’, requiring at least 1 external usb-c device (I need 2) to connect peripherals such as mouse, keyboard, external monitor.
