Customers consistently note the MacBook Pro's excellent battery life, impressive performance, and ease of use. Many appreciate its lightweight design and the convenient Touch Bar, while some find the limited port selection and non-upgradable RAM to be drawbacks. Positive feedback also highlights the powerful M1 chip and the sleek design. A few users mention heat as a concern, though many report minimal overheating.

As usual, Apple products are amazing. This MacBook Pro with the M1 chip is fast, responsive and dependable. It is light enough weight to carry to community meetings. The thumbprint sign in is secure and easy to use. I also love the Touch Bar at the top. The display is amazing, and battery life is as stated. Glad I bought this computer.

To start, I'm not an Apple guy. Beyond the free iPad I got years ago, I don't use Apple products. With that being said, I'm very impressed. I was looking for a slim laptop that had good power and great battery life. This does it exceptionally. I'll get 12-18hrs use out of this puppy and never have to slow down. It's super slim and lightweight making it easy to take anywhere. The performance is amazing. I wish Apple wasn't so expensive but in general am very pleased with this. If the 16GB RAM version wasn't outrageously priced, I would have opted for that version but to be honest, the 8GB of RAM has never been an issue. I will run Affinity Publisher/Photo/Designer plus web browser and music and it keeps chugging along like nothings going on. Exceptionally pleased with this laptop.

Pro vs. Air / RAM / External SSD considerations

Great and solid hardware as all apple products. M1 processor is extremely fast. Wish they had more ports though. Consider the “HyperDrive USB C Hub, Sanho Duo 7-in-2 USB-C Adapter for MacBook Pro“ available at BB. Glad they reverted back to the older/ better keyboard mechanism. The previous scissor keyboards were terrible. Make sure to validate compatibility with M1 and parallels or VMware if you use those products. You may have to upgrade. It’s a hard decision between pro vs air. Both are too close performance-wise to differentiate. For the extra $150, the Pro probably wins out. Better speakers, nice OLED function toolbar, internal fan, etc. Having an internal fan will probably extend the life of the machine a bit. The Pro is slightly (very slightly) heavier and thicker than the Air, but you won’t notice that difference after you buy it. As with all computers (especially ones you can’t upgrade later) get as much RAM as you can afford. RAM is the biggest performance upgrade for your buck between these two models. I would take the M1 Air with 16Gb RAM over an 8Gb M1 Pro any day. The 256GB SSD is a bit small and constraining if you plan to do more than web browsing and use office apps. I would still spend the extra money on RAM though. You can always get a very fast USB-C external SSD drive like the “ Samsung - T5 1TB External USB Type C Portable Solid State Drive” on sale at Best Buy for around $120. SSD drives are basically RAM chips in a hard drive enclosure that are 15 to 20 times or more faster than the older more common spindle drives. The T5 is actually fast enough to boot from and operate Parallels virtual machines. There’s even faster ones that are the same speed as the internal drive however pricey. The “ Sabrent Rocket XTRM-Q 1TB USB 3.2 / Thunderbolt 3 External SSD ” is the fastest and best value on the market at this time. It’s $200 but still cheaper than the $400 1TB upgrade price Apple charges. It’s just as fast as the internal drive and can run an operating system. If you plan to process video or operate virtual machines, this is your external drive. Unfortunately, Best Buy doesn’t carry Sabrent products. Perhaps they will in the future. If that price is too high, the Samsung T7 (although not as fast as the Mac’s internal drive) is a good in-between cost solution drive (sold at BB). The T7 is twice as fast as the T5 and fast enough to boot and operate from. It’s not too much cheaper than the Sabrent though (which is twice as fast). In my opinion, the Sabrent is totally worth the extra $25 to $50 premium. Just wish I could buy it from Best Buy. Either of these laptops are great for students or business users. If you’re a developer or IT pro, these will do, but you’re probably going to want to look at the $2,000 and up models.

Purchased this so I could do home movies as my old Mac (2009) does not have enough whatever it needs to do HD video. It works great! The battery lasts for a long time, it runs cool for normal tasks, but it does get warm when it is rendering the videos, but not too bad.

Overall everything is good. Love the size/build of the MacBook Pro. Love the M1 chip, it has ran everything I have thrown at it. Love the Keyboard, and the battery life, I only have to charge this thing once every couple of days, and that is with heavy use. Love the Touch Bar, I don't get why some people hate it, I find it very useful. The only issue I have had, and why I didn't give 5 stars, is I have a "Bright Pixel Anomaly" where one pixel gets stuck and will simply be bright no matter what is being displayed on the screen. This can be annoying when watching dark videos or looking at a photo with a dark background. Other than that it isn't really noticeable. From what I have read Apple has some ambiguous policy where they will only fix it if it meets "Some number" of dead/bright pixels and I am thinking that is more than one. In order to find this out, I would need to bring it to an Apple store which is 3 hours away. I can either deal with it and hope it goes away, which they sometimes do, or I can take the risk of driving a total of 6 hours just to be told my screen doesn't meet the minimum requirements for a fix. I really wish Apple would simply say what the policy is so I can know if my drive would be worth it.

4.5 Stars for new MacBook Pro

I finally upgraded from my 2008 MacBook Pro. In comparison, the new MacBook Pro has blazing performance. I like everything about how it operates including the task bar. I like the smaller size and lighter weight, and the keyboard looks and feels comfortably familiar. Battery life is amazing. Overall I love it. However, a few things I miss from my 2008 model: 1) The mag safe power connector. In addition to being safer from an accidental pull-down, the amber/green LED indicated whether the laptop was fully charged or still charging. 2) There was also a tiny button on the side of the 2008 model that when pushed indicated the battery level with a row of tiny LEDs. 3) The keyboard illuminated before boot-up on the 2008 model; not on the new one until initially logged-in. 4) An aesthetic point - the Apple logo on the cover of the 2008 model illuminated. Again, overall I'm very happy with this laptop, and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the "lost" 2008 features. I would give it 4.5 stars if that was possible.

First time Mac user here. This was not hard to figure out how to use. (I have an iPhone) I love the speed and ease of use. The screen is significantly smaller than the HP laptop I had yet it is clearer and easier to see. This device has the longest battery life I’ve ever experienced. It’s lightweight and easy to carry around (and use while holding). I am beyond pleased and don’t have an ounce of regrets. Best Buy customer service is pretty awesome too! Ordered online and picked it up the next day.

I was always a windows person since I was little. My first computer was Windows XP. I always heard MacBooks are the best. I will always get a MacBook now. The picture is still crisp and sharp. The battery works for about 7ish hours for me. I mostly listen to music or check my emails now and then. Still fast(I don't download much stuff so I believe that is why the speed is still good). No issues so far!

My First Ever Apple product and man have i been missing out. Im literally blown away!!!
I was thinking about upgrading my custom pc or even making a new one. Ive always looked into Apple computers but figured they were way overpriced for the hardware you'd get. Well the reason i bought this was because of the new chip. Ive seen all the reviews on YouTube and i figured why not if it doesn't work out ill return it. If your an Apple user you already know what to expect but me coming from windows and pcs buying this was like discovering a whole new world. As soon as I opened the box i was blown away this thing is small light sleek simple and beautiful. Everything is simple on apple os. I bought this to edit videos 4k 24 30 60 works flawless on davinci reslove. No hip-ups or glitches Apple just makes everything so simple cant believe Ive waited this long. A awesome feature of this laptop is the touch bar that's the best thing Ive seen and experienced on a computer. Cant believe people dislike it makes everything so much easier. I could go on and on about this mac book but to be honest i never write reviews and I don't feel like typing more but i just had to get the word out. I WILL be buying the new 16 in model when it comes out as well and since its rumored not to have the touch bar i will be keeping this one as well. To give you some background I love to Travel take pictures record videos and to edit them this is the perfect size for travel and the screen is outstanding, another reason i went with this computer as on windows you get crappy screens. Dont hesitate buy this macbook now.

the M1 has a bonus that some of the ios apps can also run on it -- albeit not perfectly.
Battery life has been great -- I got over 3 days on a full charge using it intermittently for a few hours a day
still a little too early in my use of it to fully test it out, but so far I am happy with the product
wish there was an additional USB-C or USB-A port
it's a little smaller and lighter than my current 2015 MBP which is nice.

Wow! Talk about fast and such a good deal for the price of a MacBook Pro! I have used Macbook laptops and computers for years the brand is always long-lasting and has top-notch support. But what really gets me about the new M1 is it offers the same pricing as past products in a new generation and is SO MUCH Faster! The benefits of full integration shine. Let me put it this way for the gamers: I play Final Fantasy XIV on-line on Mac which is rough because macs are not gaming machines. But this laptop stock with 8GB onboard ram and 512GB SSD plays at high resolution at 60fps with no modifications in windowed mode.
For photo/video friends load, layer, and compile times are much faster than my 16GB iMac (2018- 21.5 inch)
Everyday users will be able to use this for at least 7 years (if it keeps tracking with previous experience - I used my last MacBook Pro from 2013 until now -- and will still use it because it's still functional as a backup)
Yes, tech will get better with more versions but if you are in the market now or know someone who loves mac products get this especially if they are a more than casual computer user - if they are casual or light duty ill recommend the Macbook Air with the M1 not as powerful but still a great buy.

Actually Impressed

This Laptop is just absolutely impressing. For the size and the power it offers is unmatchable.
I wanted to get a portable yet powerful laptop that didn't weight a ton. I currently have a MSI GE66 32gb, i7 and a RTX 2070SUPER. The MSI is fast, has good thermals but, this little machine is way superior!
RAW POWER-
The m1 is no joke! I am currently using this laptop for software virtualization, PEN testing and school work. I am able to run ARM based linux distros with no problem! Also its so fast! I don't see any lags or slow downs. I can have multiple apps running while using parallels with no lags.
Battery Power-
I am still impressed regarding the battery performance and how efficient the M1 is. I can use the MacBook Pro for 10+ hours and not kill it. Now those 10 hours include running parallels which in windows running any virtualization kills your battery insanely fast! Running Nmap scans, RDP connections and just productivity work. Again everything runs so smoothly and with out having to worry about being near a wall plug!
Build Quality-
The build quality of this laptop Is great. Nice and light. The metal build gives it a cold feeling to it.
Speakers and screen-
The speakers are amazing! Nice and loud with good base. Better than my 15 inch laptop. The screen is also nice and bright.
overall I am very impressed with the perforce and battery endurance of this laptop. Intel was truly holding the Mac back. Good move on apple parts to just leave them.
