Tested this out for software development (mainly mobile with some backend work here & there) and the M1 chip is amazing although some applications were not working at the time. You can't beat the portability (cool to the touch, excellent battery life and performance) that this laptop provides while staying at this price point. Only returned it due to 8GB of RAM not being enough, really wish BestBuy had the option for 16GB.

I've own one another MacBook, bought it in 2012. It lasted the whole time I used it, never had an issue. It still works to this day. I decided to move on to another MacBook, it works fantastic. It is quick with this M1 chip, and it can run adobe premiere for me without any issues. Would totally buy another one, but not for a long time since this MacBook will last me a long time!

I switched over for windows to MacOS after hearing how good the M1 chip sets are for the new MacBook Pro. I am pretty impressed so far with the performance and battery life of the MacBook pro M1. The MacOS will require just a bit of time to get use to but overall is very intuitive. No matter how many applications are running, you barely hear the fan and it does not get hotter than 110F in most use cases.

When I needed a new computer I was looking for a Windows based system since that is what I was used to and I thought I would not be able to transfer my files and photos from one type of OS to another. I was incorrect. My son went to the store with me and explained the differences and pros and cons of each. I thought I would have a difficult time learning this new system. Nope! A tad difficult at first, but a much easier system to use.

My 2012 MacBook Pro decided to retire itself in the first week of my college classes. I’m super excited to own this new ssd MacBook for another 10 or so years. The Touch Bar, surprisingly, comes in very handy for running excel and other applications. I especially love the Touch ID feature and the overall sleek design of this laptop. Batter life is also AMAZING.

I would highlight: - the MacBook is fast; more so when using native ARM software like the one that comes with the MacBook (like iMovie, or Numbers, etc). - Battery last for a full work day and then some more few hours. - it barely over heats in most cases. Certain apps make it run pretty hot like Zoom or SourceTree; most probably because they run in emulation mode.

This and the M1 MacBook Air are the two best general use laptops currently available. I'm also including all Windows laptops when I say that. I switched from a Razer Blade 15" to this and am VERY happy that I did. I Personally chose the Pro over the Air because it has a bigger battery and a cooling fan. The battery life is amazing. I generally just charge at night and then I use the laptop all day and I still have plenty of battery left over. Most days I'll still have 40% available even after about 8 hours of mixed use screen time. This laptop is also crazy fast. It is on instantly and ready to go when you open the screen. It has changed the way I use a laptop. I find myself using this more like I used to use a tablet. It is always charged and ready to use so I just pick it up whenever I need it. It has enough power to be a decent gaming laptop too. I'm very surprised how well it runs many games. There is one HUGE caveat to this though. Controllers will not work on Steam or Epic games. Games from Apple's app store will use a controller without a problem but the same game when purchased through Steam will not recognize it. Hopefully this is something that Steam/Epic will fix in the future. Overall this is just a fantastic laptop. The combination of battery life, speed, quality and portability make it nearly perfect. I can't wait to see what Apple comes up with next.

Love this laptop. Runs great, looks great, incredible screen resolution and the keyboard feels so great to type on. I think the Touch Bar on top is pretty cool too, so much functionality. Also, amazing battery life, I use it all the time every day and only have to charge it once every few days if that.

This laptop is the best I’ve used ever. I’ve had a number of laptops but never a MacBook. All the laptops I’ve owned have broken down within a matter of months and the longest being a little over a year. I’m hopeful that this one will last a while longer. First of all the quality is top notch. It feels sturdy in the hands and has an appropriate weight considering the aluminum body. The keyboard and touch are are sturdy and reliable. The trackpad is by far the most comfortable and accurate one I’ve used. As far as speed goes with the new M1 chip and an SSD hardrive there is no comparison. Everything loads up in lest than a second. Startup and login is almost instantaneous. I would pay this price any day for a computer like this. Also the battery life is pretty ridiculous. It last a crazy amount of time. Sometimes I forget that I even need to recharge it because it last so long. All in all buy this if you want a long lasting, durable and fast laptop.
