I had been waiting for Apple to introduce the new M1 chip in the larger MacBook Pro models for some time. My old 2010 MacBook Pro 17" was getting very long in the tooth. It had been dead reliable for 12+ years but was getting very slow. It is my understanding the newer OS releases will start focusing on features in the M1 chipset and Intel based MacBooks won't be able to support the newer features which is why I was waiting for M1's in the larger MacBook series. I bought the 16" inch version with 16 gig of memory and the 512 gig SSD. Setup was very easy to do and transferring information from the old MacBook was straight forward. I was up and running in a couple of hours. The M1 Pro MacBook is very fast and I have experienced no issues to date. I also loaded Microsoft Office without issue and the system response is great. I hope the MacBook Pro proves as reliable as my old 2010 version was. Apple products are pricey but the construction, performance and reliability are very good. In my experience, similar Windows laptops are nearly as expensive as Apple.

The M1 Pro is an incredible chip and this hardware is a huge leap forward.

An absolute beast. I have owned this thing for several months at this point and put it through it's paces. I still don't think I've heard the fans kick on. Battery life is great, the screen is gorgeous, and it makes quick work of anything you can throw at it.

Having never owned an Apple Laptop, I am impressed. I purchased the Pro to replace a gaming laptop that kept having issues with cooling fans expiring prematurely, and the inability to run Adobe products. This Mac Pro has stellar graphics, awesome processing for the software I run. I'm sure there are more software products for me to explore, I but I am well pleased.

Many aspects I like about this laptop. A much needed upgrade for me. Great for work and entertainment. Even with the one non-feature I will mention I still give this 5-stars. Unless I am missing something. I expected a little more advanced speaker and sound controls, not just input/output, Left/Right, Source. I clearly have a model that could handle more sound engineering user controls. I would've liked to have the mixer/equalizers even if a basic interface. Did I miss that. I waited this long to post a review thinking I missed it somehow. Separate devices are okay but for the cost of this model I feel Audio Midi app could be better. Only an opinion from someone who like to listen to music on my laptop.

As a Mac fan and not really a Windows fan I wanted to write this review on the new 16.2 inch Mac with the M1 Pro CPU. Let me start by saying that the battery would be rated 6 stars if that was an option. It seems twice as good as the 16 inch with the Intel i9, maybe even better. I have played a couple of games on the laptop to see if I could fire the fans up but this laptop is the coolest running laptop I have seen with this much power. I have not run the laptop thru any performance tests but I can tell that it is very powerful. There was a lot of hype about the mini-led display but although the display is very bright and crisp I did not see a noticeable difference to the eye when compared to the previous model. I kind of got used to the Touch Bar so I think I would have rather they kept it, but not a big deal. Now let me touch on the points that in my opinion bring this back down to 4 stars. The size - larger and heavier than the previous model but if that is what it takes to keep the laptop cool then I am ok with it. Still, the extra weight is noticeable. The keyboard according to Apple is still a magic keyboard but the keystroke length feels shorter and I seem to make more mistakes typing than on the magic keyboard released in 2019. I have seen other comments related to this as well but Apple just says it is still the magic keyboard. While I am on the topic of the keyboard I am not sure why they surrounded the keys with a black background rather than the color of the laptop but I think the previous model looked cleaner, just my opinion. Now let me get to the shortfalls. With all the technical expertise and pioneering that Apple has demonstrated, why can't they build in a face scan option like a Microsoft Surface which is more secure and makes it much easier and quicker to login. If the web camera is as sharp as they say it is then it should be able to support face scans. The fingerprint option is nice but you still have to type your password in initially to login. Seems like Apple is going in the wrong direction for logins. Also, maybe there is an option to change this but I like to tap my finger on the touchpad to select an item rather than actually pressing the touchpad to make a click. Not a huge deal breaker but still irritating. Microsoft has plenty of shortcomings too such as the constant need to install updates. Other personnel have commented on this but I would like to point out that my MSI 1700 dollar laptop smokes this laptop with it's Nvidia GPU. I'm not convinced that Apple cares about gaming but they still have some work to do if they want to be considered a gaming laptop, With all that said, I personally would not let this stop you from buying one of these incredible machines. Apple definitely improved this laptop with their M1 CPU's and I look forward to seeing what is next.

Love my MacBook as I use it almost daily with work

This is the best computer I have ever owned. I love the display and the easy accessibility to apps and other programs. I love how I could also connect my phone through it. The only argument I have with this computer is that there are no USB ports.
