What a great addition to my collection and a real treat for the listeners of my radio show on KSCU 103.3fm!

Hendrix fans are already familiar with the Band Of Gypsysthrough the Capitol Records album of the same name, released in 1970. Compiled from four shows Hendrix played with Buddy Miles and Billy Cox at the Fillmore East on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day 1969-1970, the disc was later expanded into "Live At the Fillmore East." Now, Experience Hendrix is ready to release all four shows in their entirety, starting with this, the first show. This offers a good cross-section of the new, funkified Hendrix songs that were first released on the original BOG, while offering new, bluesier versions of his later compositions. Worth the wait -- and I'm waiting for the next three shows to be released.

Very good listen, it wasn't his best but nice to hear some new stuff

Machine Gun is the first of three shows that Jimi played over New Years at the old Fillmore East. There have been releases before most notably A Band of Gypys that were tracks hand picked by Hendrix from different shows. By accounts that I have read online form people who were there for some or all of the shows this first show was the weakest. Some of the tracks have never been released and the sound is rough in spots but still it is good to have a complete show for a change. Rumor has it that the other shows will also be released in time. A must have for any Hendrix fan.

For a lot of rock music fans, Jimi is best known for his “experience” recordings. But for me I feel he was at his peak when he joined forces with his old friends with whom he served in the army called the Band Of Gypsies. His music has much more soul and blues on this recording, and the remaster sounds great. This is Jimi Hendrix as he was meant to be.

Culled from the same series of shows that produced the iconic Band of Gypsys Jimi Hendrix album back in the day, this is the complete first show released in it’s entirety for the first time--and what a show it is! Any serious Jimi Hendrix fan needs to own this concert, as it was a New Year’s Eve concert at the famed Fillmore East, as the 60s turned into the 70s--JH R.I.P.

I am a GIANT Jimi fan so it is alway great to get more Jimi music! These Band of Gypsys concerts are the reason I became a musician! I heard the original album the day it came out March 25th 1970 and that album inspired me to play!.

Jimi Hendrix pushes the boundaries of funk, rock and R&B with a brand new group, Band of Gypsys. I really like this CD and it sounds amazing. It gives insight into what went down that night at the Fillmore, warts and all.

The loss of Jimi Hendrix grows deeper with every reissue and new release of "lost" recordings. This performance with the band of gypsys from the Fillmore shows just how much more could have been... Billy Cox holds the music together keeping Buddy Miles and Jimi from flying off on their separate ways. Great music although it would have been nice to have both shows on one cd.

I really like this CD, and I think it's one of the best releases by the Hendrix estate. The sounds quality of this CD is amazing. It is the first set New Years Eve at the Fillmore East 1969. Finally a complete Band of Gypsys performance.

More previously unreleased music from an artist that died way too young. Jimi Hendrix led the guitar revolution and no one has ever caught up to him. Sure there are a few warts on this,but thats what makes a great concert recording.

Jimi was the man who paved the way! An amazing performance by an amazing guitarist. Is there a better war-like anthem than "Machine Gun?" even know there are only a few 'new' tracks.. the chronolgy is what works here!

OK. Do we need another Jimi Hendrix product. Yes we do! This is a great showcase of the Band of Gypsys first of four shows, and it rocks. If you like blues, soul, r&b, and rock, this will not steer you wrong.

This is an excellent historical document of Jimi and the Band of Gypsys first New Year's Eve gig in 1969. The sound quality is excellent. This is Jimi fusing rock, blues, and funk at an outstanding level.

Hendrix fans like myself have been waiting for a complete show from Band Of Gypsys forever! Now, we finally have it, and it does not disappoint! Great music that's nicely mastered and presented!

Superb audio of a complete performance never before officially released. If you're even a casual Jimi Hendrix fan, this is a must-have.

Another release from the Hendrix vaults. As with their other releases it is produced and mastered very well. This is from late in his career and includes songs not heard as often. His talent as always is amazing! This set is for fans who want to hear something rare.

Often imitated, but never duplicated and playing like a man posessed, and maybe, he was ?

Since the material was not released until 1971 (Cry of Love), this audience (Fillmore East) heard all-new material - nothing from his three Experience albums - that night. A great performance, but Cry of Love is the basis for comparison, less so the Experience material.

I have several Hendrix collector's sets and this album is icing on the cake. It gives great insight to the man and his talent. Do yourself a favor and buy this now!
