Customers frequently mention the fun gameplay and engaging story as major highlights of Mafia III. The open world and action sequences also receive positive feedback, with many praising the game's value for its price. However, some players point to issues with the driving mechanics and artificial intelligence. A few also noted that the gameplay can become repetitive after a while.

Mafia 3 delivers an engaging story with wonderful performances and great action. It also does a great job of capturing the time setting and handling it with care. Gameplay is fun though it suffers a bit from some technical issues and repetitive missions.

Pretty good game. I love the setting and the time period. Some bugs during gameplay and the driving is lack luster. I am big into story based games and this has a good story.

This game is great , its like a 1968 version of GTA 5 , but a lot better right down to the huge map in the case .the graphics are FAR BETTER than gta 5. ,story is great , and most of all the game is playable to a casual gamer like me - unlike gta 5 which does not even give a game skill option ( easy , modetate , hard etc ) which for me made gta 5 almost imposible for me . A lot of cut seens at begining and end of each mission . For 19.99 or 15.99 for me a gamers club member THIS GAME IS A STEAL . This is defininatly a SLEEPER game . Not getting nearly the reconition it deserves . GO BUY IT AND HAVE A BLAST ....

The story is where this game really shines. Although fun, the game-play itself is extremely repetitive. I found myself doing the same tasks over and over as each mission's basic formula rarely deviates. That being said, the game does entertain and will keep you busy for 20 hours + if you choose. If you can pick this up on sale, I'd say go for it. 7.5/10

a tad disappointing if you are expecting GTA V

Mafia III is not GTA V. With that out of the way, you can expect a narrative-driven open world game that is composed of some of the best voice-acting, music and story that I have ever experienced from this genre. However, those looking for the playful and varied side missions of the GTA series will be disappointed. Missions and tasks in Mafia III all revolve around the hostile takeover of New Bordeaux from the incumbent Italian mob. This can lead to some major repetitiveness. However, the strength of the story and atmosphere motivated me throughout the entirety of my 40-hour playthrough. Check your expectations at the door and you may find a flawed, but exceptional, gaming experience as I did.

Would have been better as a Linear Game

Mafia 3 offers a robust world full of compelling characters, an engaging plot and stellar voice-acting. However, it falls flat when it comes to the open world aspect of the game, which unfortunately, devolves into one of the most repetitive open world experiences in years. As mentioned, the main story is phenomenal, and offers a fresh installment into the franchise. Lincoln Clay is a great protagonist and it was a pleasure to see his story of redemption and revenge play out. But the open world side-missions are beyond repetitive. Every single mission is either driving from one end of the map to the other (no fast travel) and fetching something, or shooting some gangsters. I wish there was more variety on that end.

Great Story in an Open World

First off, the story and characters are absolutely amazing. The progression the story takes is really something to enjoy. The only gripe I have so far are some of the cheap ways you can take advantage of the enemy AI. Even with that, there is so much to sit back and immerse yourself into this rendition of New Orleans in the late 60's.

This is hands down one of the best cinematically produced games to match Uncharted. Lincoln Clay and his sidekick, Donovan are amazing to watch. Cutscenes are well executed and tell a great story. The main issue I had with the game was the gameplay. There are a handful of interesting story missions but the majority are repetitive, dull, and require cleansing each arena of some seriously dumb AI. Play it for the story or don't.

Mafia III is an okay game

I played all the mafia games and generally enjoyed them a lot. This new game looks great and sounds great too. However, as large as the game area is, there isn't much to do. When you are completing a mission it's always the same. Taking out a warehouse full of bad guys is never hard to do even on difficult settings. Hide behind box, whistle, wait, kill, repeat. The formula gets old fast. The driving mechanics are great but Mafia has always had that perfected. Also, the game has quite a few bugs left in it like floating vehicles you'll find 50 ft in the air randomly. Some times this prevents you from completing a mission and other times it's just funny to see. I only paid 13.30 for it after coupons and stuff so it's well worth it, but at 59.99 plus tax I would definitely wait.

At first i wasnt going to get this game but after just going for it and picking it up, im having more fun with this game than i thought i would have. If u r a fan of the other two games give this one a shot. Even if u didnt play the other 2 give this a shot. The only problem i have with the game is that the sky and reflection graphics could have been better for being a 2016 game haha, but everything else is solid!

This game first looks amazing and the story is engaging but one thing that through me off is the open world it's dead if you played shadow of mordor the mechanics is basically the same but with out the great nemesis system mordor uses its very repetitive you do the same thing this could of been a great game to
