Purchased Magic Jack to transfer old landline service as removing would inconvenience elderly relatives. What they don't say disclose is that to "port" your number, Magic Jack charges $19.95 plus $1.80 administrative fee plus state sales tax. They also don't disclose on the box that porting could take 20 business days. I'll have to wait and see what the renewal charges will be next year as the first year is included in the purchase price. The app gave me a new number with no option to port, had to use computer on web site to set up attempted transfer.

Won’t setup with any iOS /Mac OS device despite it being advertised. Don’t purchase any membership from best buy because they won’t help you either. I was told I could buy an windows laptop and install myself and return the laptop when I called customer service for magic jack. Canceled my total tech membership and returned product

After hours of attempting to set this up, I give up. I get voicemail alerts in an email which is useless. The phone won't ring. It continually says Check tel line. I tried in in every USB port on the computer and the modem/router. A neighbor bought this and it took his IT person 3 hours to install. AND IF IT WON'T WORK, TOO BAD. YOUR PAYMENT FOR A YEARS SERVICE IS NOT REFUNDABLE. I tried so many times that I went past the return date for BestBuy. I called their help line. The tech answered the first part of my question and said thanks for calling and hung up.

In my winter condo, I use BasicTalk VoIP and am 100peccent happy with them. I couldn't find that device so I bought Magic Jack Home. The registration instructions were incorrect (need to insert device into a computer to have it addressed) and once I inserted it, it was recognized but the registration page never materialized. The first time I called "customer service" I got someone in Manila who said their internet server was having difficulties so I should try later. Two days later, same problem. Good news was Best Buy gave me an immediate refund.

It is great alternative for the pricey phones. It could be even better when on sale.

Magic is a very inexpensive phone service that is very reliable if you have a fast stable internet connection. I have been a magic jack customer for over 9 years having one Magic Jack for phone and another for fax. Magic Jack customer service is the biggest problem. After I made the magic jack purchase from Best Buy to replace a failing unit, I followed the e-mailed instructions sent from Magic Jack customer support only to have the installation fail multiple times.

Been using magic jack for years and there’s not one negative about it. Only thing to keep in mind is that adapter does break/stop working after few years, so you have to keep buying new one and syncing your account to it.

It works. It doesn't have three way calling. That's kind of important to me. Then there's this thing where you have to pay extra money in order to dial 911. I don't plan on renewing after the initial free trial.

Called Majicjack service desk to ask a few questions and no one answered. If I couldn’t get someone to answer now I wouldn’t feel comfortable about calling service desk after installing. Returned product.

So disappointed. I was anxiously waiting to try out the MJ. Wanted to use as my home phone. Unfortunately it worked One night then could not get a dial tone after that. Contacted customer support and was on the phone for 1 hr and they were unable to resolve the problem. I even contacted my ISP an nothing. Returned item!

This product was purchased to help my 96 year old mother stay in connection with her family. It was so very difficult for her to hear. We tried several different locations in the house, and even thought it might be the phone. We realized we needed to return it and get a regular phone line. Now we’re all happy!

I wish the packaging had specified that this type of MagicJack could not be directly plugged into a computer like models could. You can ONLY plug this adapter into a telephone. Because I was ill when it arrived, I later discovered that it wasn't the type I'd expected to plug into my computer. As I no longer have any standard household telephones or such service in my home, I've wasted my money because I cannot return it now.
