Was originally skeptical with purchasing this receiver for a HI FI surround system considering I was going to run some high demeaning electrostatic speakers. But this receiver has really blown me away. It has a great sounding built in DAC and has plenty of power to drive some fairly hard to drive speakers. The features built in are flawless and I have had no issues with any software bugs. In short if you are looking for a phenomenal sounding A/V reviver to output amazing sound in a atoms system look no further!

I recently returned the Denon x3800h. It sounded good for movies and TV but it just didn't do it for me for music and I preferred my old Yamaha AVR. I gave this a shot and wow, talk about having your cake and eating it to. This instantly sounded better for music, bigger sound stage, a warm tone, cleaner at high volumes and the channel separation and detail is amazing. ARC and HDMI CEC work perfect with my Sony TV so its easy to use as well for the rest of the family. Zero regrets here, if you listen to music more than just occasionally this is worth the extra cost over the similarly spec Denon.

Debated between the 40 and 50 primarily just the cost issue. However I am blown away by the upgrade even coming from a smaller Marantz. Put the money saved into a better power amp for the front speakers (Emotiva XPA 2 channel and added BasX 5 channel to carry some of the load of surounds. Still running 2 height sets through the reciever. Music is phenominal in 2.1 running A+B front speakers. I guess would like to hear the 40 but I can't imagine it's that much better. Has preouts for all channels and can add 4 subs. Plan to add another SVS 3000 at some point just to hear the separation eventually get to 4 subs? I am very pleased with birthday present to myself. Dirac is a little misleading you have to pay for it but it's a game changer for me since I have always used Audyessy

Excellent AVR, good power 110 watts, connections for 4 subs. Supports all audio formats. Flexible configurations. HIFI music listening to ATMOS movie streaming or 4K HDR DVD it’s great. The only negative I have is the tiny display on the the front. Because I use the Marrantz app on my phone it’s not an issue.

The difference between this and my previous AVRs (which were all decent mid-range receivers) is night and day. Make sure to go through the room calibration and you will not be disappointed. Movies -- and particular clarity of dialogue - sound as good as they do in a modern theater!

Went from a Yamaha RX-A3080 to this. WOW what a difference! Sound is a whole new level watching movies and gaming! The HEOS app is quite a bit different than I am used to than the MusicCast app is and took a bit to figure out how to use my Zone 2 with Sirius, Pandora, etc.. but eventually figured it out.

Amazing receiver after you tune your speakers. I love how it sounds. Jazz is absolutely gorgeous. The real bonus is I won't need to upgrade for a long time with so many HDMI 2.1 ports. I spent a long time waiting for receivers to properly embrace the new standard and it was worth the wait. Works great with gaming. Movies hit when they need to. I'm glad I finally upgraded from Denon. The receiver and the Marantz remote look so much nicer. Onscreen menus are basically the same as Denon which isn't surprising.

I have had many receivers from pioneer elite, yamaha aventage, and denon receivers. This marantz is the best by far. More thean enough hdmi inputs for all your devices. More power than my other receivers and the audessey audio calibration gets my system up and sounding great. I run a 7.2.2 sound system with bi-amped front towers. Front dolby atmos speakers on top of my towers. Speakers have more depth and wider soundstage. My speakers have never sounded better. Buy it, you wont be disappointed

We use the Marantz Cinema 50 fro a variety of listening. The majority is TV, followed by movies, CDs and streaming. We have a marantz CD60 and are driving a Klipsch 5.1 system. It brings out all of the movie soundtrack and draws you into the action. We really enjoy music through the Cinema 50. It clean and accentuate throughout the frequency rangge. Im expecting to have many years of listening enjoyment.

I upgraded from a Denon x4500h. This marantz unit is clearer and just a easy to use with the interface setup a the denon. If you have the budget by all means buy the cinema 40 or highest model. But sonically you may not tell much of a diference between the 50 and 40 model. Im running b&w 702 s2 for lcr and all other surround/atmos with ease in my theater room.

Hands down the best receiver I've ever bought. Marantz does a great job with the initial set up process walking you through every step. Marantz uses Audyssey MultEQ ET32 for room correction and calibration. I must say after running Audyssey, my Paradigm's never sounded so good. This receiver is worth every penny!

This receiver offers all the perks needed for a great Home Theater experience and more, I have purchased many different receivers over the years, but the thought Marantz put into this new group of recivers is outstanding. If this receiver is within your budget, definitely worth it, but if not, I recommend looking at the other receivers in this series.
