We bought this game so that the family can play together, and have fun on nights at home. I have been playing this series of games since Super Mario Kart came out on the Super Nintendo in the early 90's. For anyone who grew up with this series of game, it will not disappoint. All of the popular power-ups are here, which can make the game a bit challenging and fun. The mechanics are easy enough for young children to pick up on. My 6 and 9 year old needed little practice to start playing the game. There is enough variation of game play to keep you coming back, but classic versus racing seems to be the most popular for my family. I think many would enjoy this game, it's simple mechanics, fun battle modes, etc. It has replay value and if you have kids and want to share a fun experience I would pick it up.

I'm not sure if I'm just that good at Mario Kart (there's no way I am) or if this is just very easy, as there's no CPU difficulty setting and I often end up lapping other karts. It's fun with friends, though.

There isn't much to dislike here. The gameplay is solid, the track designs are beautiful, and the replay ability is endless. With the Switch, you can play Mario Kart with someone anywhere you are because the joycons can be used as two controllers. I visited a girl in the hospital, and brought it with me, and we played this game together. For owners of the Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a must have game.

I was a huge fan of Mario Kart 8 for Wii U. That said, I couldn't enjoy battle mode. Giant courses not designed for battles was never a good formula. Thankfully, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe swaps those courses out for 8 excellent battle arenas. In addition, there are 5 game modes to choose from, so the added variety is appreciated. The rest of the game is a very minor improvement over the original MK8 (all courses including DLC from MK8, new characters to name the most significant). My recommendation is that if you've played MK8 then Deluxe is only worthwhile if you're in it for battle mode. Otherwise the price point is just a little too high for the small increase in content.

If you missed it on the Wii U because reasons, you need to play it now, especially if you're a Mario kart fan! It's got all the dlc and tracks that were in the Wii U version, but now portable and with the switch you have built in 2 player always, it's great! A must have for any switch owner!

Who cares if switch doesn't have a 4k output? This thing looks amazing! Great tracks. The ability to customise cars is really cool. Since the Wii version they 've modified the way in which you can release objects, making it easier to cover your self while using a single joycons to steer

been a fan of the mario kart series since the super nintendo days. really good graphics, great game to play with friends. With throwback levels remade for the switch, it is really fun for even first time mario kart players. Lots of characters to choose from and many vehicles to choose as well.

Fun game all around, great for online play will lock in in for hours

this has always been one of my favorite games since I was a kid! I love how the original characters and all their attributes are given a good amount of detail. Very fun game, and very easy to play with my 5 year old!

I love Mario Kart 8!! It's a great party game, and this version is easier to play. When you fall off the course track, it doesn't take as long to get you back in the game. You could be last for the first 2 laps, and still catch up by the 3rd lap. You just never know how the race will go. :)

Love it! My husbands favorite when he was a kid and now my daughters favorite! Awesome game for the whole family!

This game is a port of the original game that appeared on the Nintendo Wii U. In addition to having all the features of the original, this game now includes all the DLC from the original for free. Plus, there's a few new carts and characters to play as. In addition, the Battle Mode is much better than what is was in the Wii U version, featuring unique battle courses over just reusing racing tracks. Although one minor complaint is that there's no new stages, but that's fine since the base game already has so many. This game is perfect for anyone who never got to experience that Wii U version and want a nice racing game with mayhem and chaos at every turn. The online mode is fun as you show your racing skills around the world. Overall, this was a great purchase.

Loads of fun! A must for Switch owners, especially if you are a fan of previous Mario Kart titles. So many characters, vehicles, and tracks to play with!

I feel like most people know what they are getting when they are looking at this game. I’m not going to get into too much detail about the gameplay, but I’ll advertise it this way… one of my kids lost our case with about 15 games in it. This was the first game I purchased after finally giving up looking for it because of the playability for everyone. It’s worthy of a rebuy for sure.

Was late to Mario Kart 8 but got it to play with friends and it was a good time.

This is hands down the best version of Mario kart 8 that you can get. I love bringing this game around with me and playing a game against my friends on the go. The new characters added to this game are also amazing. I bought this on the Wii U and double dipping was no problem for me and this game.

If you missed out on mario kart on the wii u, this is a must buy. Even if you have played it on the wii u, you have to get it on switch. Plenty of playable characters and challengin tracks. Online have been a great experience as well. So far match pair has been quick and no lag during online play.

Great game, but a bit on the pricey side since Nintendo doesn't believe in discounting anything they produce. Great game, because of its high price I did not give it 5 stars, but that's because at such a high price it should include a lot more. While it's definitely a fun game, it gets repetitive really quickly. I only play it when others come over.

I made the the jump from the Wii to the Switch and I knew I had to have this game. I have been playing Mario Kart since N64; Nintendo continues to amaze me with ingenuity they display when coming out with new twists on the original game. The graphics were so crisp without hurting my eyes. It was nice to not have to unlock characters. (Punishing players for preferring certain aspects of the game was not appreciated. example: time trials) The new battle modes were refreshing and fun! My family loves the additional options to the replay mode. And as usual the stages are a lovely mix of old and new. The old stages have been given new depth because of the updated challenges and modifications. On a final note, they have added smart steering that will keep you from falling off the course. This is good for younger players that may not have the dexterity needed to play. Seasoned players might find it annoying as it may keep you from using shortcuts which require you to go off the course, luckily you can turn it on and off.
