Unforgettable Racing Fun: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Revi
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch is an absolute thrill ride that offers a captivating blend of nostalgia and modern gaming excitement. As a long-time fan of the Mario Kart series, I was eagerly anticipating this release, and I'm happy to report that it exceeded all expectations. From the moment I started playing, I was drawn in by the vibrant graphics and meticulously designed tracks. The attention to detail is remarkable, and every course feels like a unique adventure. The roster of characters is impressive, offering a diverse array of options that cater to different playstyles. One of the standout features is the Battle Mode, which has been revamped and enhanced. It's an exhilarating experience that adds an extra layer of competition and camaraderie when playing with friends. The online multiplayer mode is seamless, allowing me to challenge opponents from around the world or join forces with friends for a memorable gaming session. The controls are smooth and responsive, whether using the Joy-Cons, Pro Controller, or handheld mode. The addition of new items and kart customization options keeps the gameplay fresh and engaging. The game strikes the perfect balance between accessibility for newcomers and depth for experienced players. While the single-player experience is captivating, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe truly shines when played with friends and family. The couch co-op multiplayer is an absolute blast, sparking laughter, rivalry, and unforgettable moments. It's the kind of game that brings people together and guarantees hours of entertainment. In conclusion, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a masterpiece that continues to uphold the legacy of the franchise while delivering a thrilling and modern gaming experience. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the series, this game is a must-have for any Nintendo Switch owner.

The Nostalgia

They incorporated a lot of the classic tracks from past consoles. The graphics and the effects are sweet. So many characters and carts/cart accessories available to use. Improvement on an already great game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had Mario Kart on the Wii U and thought that game was amazing. The switch version provides a few tweaks plus more maps and characters making it the best version available. Add the portability factor of the switch and getting this game is a no brainer.

Good game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game in the Mario Kart series. This is a deluxe version of Mario Kart 8 that was released for the Wii U. This game has all the great things that make Mario Kart fun. The tracks are great and varied with some popular tracks from older Mario Kart games. Controlling the game works great too. You can use the Joy-Cons, split the Joy-Cons for 2 player, and use the pro controller. They all work great and controlling the kart is responsive and tight. They also include a Smart controller mode which basically helps steer and accelerate, great for younger kids. They will feel they are actually racing and not have to worry about falling off the track. There a lot of content in this game: tracks, racers, different kart mods, and the online play is fun too. This is a must have for the Nintendo Switch!

A fantastic party game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic game by Nintendo. I played the original Mario kart 8 on the Wii U and I loved it. The expanded battle features, the ability to play anywhere, and the additional characters and karts are fantastic to play. I have no complaints at all.

A Complete Package
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is more here than just a graphical update. The DLC from MK8's release on the Wii U is included, plus a new Battle mode from the older games. The online play seems a bit more stable (though still prone to failure) and the frame rate increase to 60 fps is very noticeable and welcome. It plays best with standard controls, the tilt controls are accurate, but require a lot of movement and yet are still quite sensitive. For beginners (or people just not good at the game) there are assistance tools in the game that help you steer and drive forward. I'd advice the average gamer to turn these off since the 3rd level drift boost is only available if they're off, but the tools are great for young kids or people who don't normally play. All in all, there is a great list of courses and characters, and enough custom race options to make this a great upgrade.

Family time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario Kart 8 is THE game for the family. It is fun, easy to learn, but hard to master. It brings a lot of family bonding time for our family during this pandemic. I started out late with Nintendo Switch and this game has been age like fine wine. Worth to give a try and as always, you can play with your friends and family. -Tracks: a lot of track to choose from and more cart to choose. I couldn't tell if I would be able to play all of these tracks by the next two months. -Graphics: are incredible good looking for a big TV screen or in the palm of your hands. -Tip and tricks: well, this game does not tell much for trick, but there is Youtube.

Amazing game for a great system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had Mario Kart 8 for for Wii U but I never purchased the DLC, so picking up the deluxe version when I bought my Switch was a no brainer. The new tracks are a lot of fun and the tracks that have been ported from past Mario Karts bring a challenge to already familiar environments. This version of the game includes some "easy mode" features that will be a welcome addition to beginners. These include an option that allows the game to steer you away from leaving the track and to accelerate for you (each being a separate setting). As a seasoned player, I found these features annoying and quickly disabled them as they removed some of my control, but I see the benefit for beginners and others that are just looking for a fun game to play with friends and family.

Mario Kart gets even better on the switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario Kart is not a significant change from the Wii U version. That said, there is one simply killer feature that made this a must buy for me (other than the portability factor), the driver assists. We have a four year old who loves to play with us, but she's still too young to grasp the controls. On the Wii U, we gave her a disconnected controller. With this, she can actually drive and it accelerates for her and keeps her on the track. It really is a killer feature for making this game more accessible. If you already have this on the Wii U, buying again comes down to whether or not you want portability and the accessibility. That said, it's our favorite family game and if you don't have it, it's a must for the system and GCU makes it an easier pill to swallow.

Tons of content and portability.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never played the Wii U version, so getting the Deluxe edition of Mario Kart meant I got to play tons of new levels, a revamped battle mode and the option of playing on-the-go with the Switch. This is the first time in years I've purchased a Mario Kart game and after having played it for multiple hours I can stay it's a must-buy for any Switch owner. You can play with the split joycons, so right away you have the option of 2 player sessions. Is it a bit uncomfortable? Yes, but it gets the job done. Online play (from my experience) was great and I didn't experience any input lag. Do you like Mario Kart and didn't play the Wii U Version? Please get it. Even if you did, the crisps graphics on the Switch screen alone is worth giving the game a second look.

The best Mario Kart game yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario Kart 8 was such a good Mario Kart game I still considered it my favorite despite its lack of a proper battle mode and certain fan favorite characters. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe fixes some top complaints with Mario Kart 8 and adds new features on top of that. The new battle modes are a lot of fun. Balloon Battle and Coin Runners play like they did in Mario Kart Wii, and Shine Thief plays like it did in Double Dash. I did not find the new version of Bob-omb Blast to be *quite* as fun as the Double Dash version, but I was glad to see it return. The new Renegade Roundup mode plays like cops and robbers, and while it seems like the easiest to unbalance, it is still a lot of fun, and it feels fresh and different. While none of the race tracks are new, it is nice that Deluxe comes with all the tracks and CC levels unlocked (including the DLC tracks and 200cc). You do not get rewards for completing individual cups anymore, but as someone who already unlocked everything in MK8, it is nice to not have to unlock all the tracks and characters again. If you are someone who enjoys unlocking things, there ARE still locked vehicle parts—including new Splatoon ones—that are unlocked by collecting coins. Even though the courses are the same, some of the new mechanics do make a difference. The most visible is the ability to carry two items at once. It allows some Double Dash strategies to return, but the inability to swap the item slots makes it feel more like dragging one item while having another in your item slot in other Mario Kart games. The item changes (and the introduction of the new Boo item) help give the first place player less of an advantage than in MK8 without feeling too unfair. Another new feature is the third level of mini turbo—it is difficult to drift that long on most courses, but the speed boost you get from it feels very satisfying. For advanced players, it sounds like a small change, but the ability to brake while drifting can actually really change how you play some tracks—especially in 200cc. For new players, auto steering and auto acceleration make learning the game much easier (though I wish the switches to turn them on and off were not hidden in the +/− menus). Overall, if you never played MK8, picking up Deluxe is a no-brainer. If you played MK8 and loved it, Deluxe is probably worth it for the new battle modes and the ability to play those courses on-the-go (spontaneous split-screen races in portable mode with Joy-Cons are still a lot of fun). If you hated the core gameplay of MK8, Deluxe does little to fundamentally change the formula, so you might want to try a friend's copy before deciding to buy. For me, this is probably my new favorite Mario Kart game.
