this game has been so fun to play. Not only for myself, but for my entire family! The graphics are great! Characters, vehicles and tracks all add to the fun of the game. I have played Mario Kart on just about every platform that is has been released on, and by far, this has been the best yet. It is a great game to play by yourself, with friends or with family.

First off I fall under the first time player of Mario Kart 8. I did not own a Wii U therefore have never played this game before. All I can say is this is pure fun. This game's attention to detail in course and character design is beyond imagination. So far I have put about 30 hours into it and still go back for more even when getting blue shelled, red shelled, then blue shelled out of first place. Even though the game can be brutally frustrating it is one of the additions to the Nintendo Switch that is a necessity. I mostly play single player either online or just in a solo cups. No matter what I play it is always fun and enjoyable. What makes this even better is I can play it out and about while getting my oil changed or just at home on the TV and it looks and plays the same. A side note: the only downfall is that when online there is no real way to just party up with a few friends for some quick races without jumping through hoops. This is not really the games fault though and more has to do with Nintendo lagging on getting their online network fully working which is supposed to be in beta/ready by fall (we'll see if that happens). This is a must own game for any Nintendo Switch owner.

What's not to like? Tons of characters, amazingly detailed, intricate tracks to race, multiple car configurations, and fun power ups! The fact that this game looks amazing both at home and on the go is a testament to the console itself. Highly addictive and truly fun for the family!

Great family game with the multiplayer option. Nostalgic with all the courses you get from the Mario Kart game line. Have lots of fun playing this game with my family. Great difficulty for someone who likes the challenge. Crazy that this game has been out for years and still $60 though. But overall have enjoyed every dollar spent playing with the family.

This is the best version of Mario Kart 8 and one that should've existed in the first place up to the capabilities of the Wii U version. The largest change that is most welcome to this game is retooling of the battle mode. It is back to how the maps worked in previous mariokart games instead of being a small track. Battle mode now makes sense and is actually fun again. If the Wii U release had this version of battle mode, it would be a harder sell to get it on Switch. However now it is the largest tipping point. Playing on handheld is about the equivalent of the Wii U version that was also 720p. You can also take off the controllers and two player modes with ease. If you are crazy, you can get an additional pair of joycons and play with 4 people simultaneously on the portable switch screen. Does it work well? Yes! Should you actually do that? Probably not. While docked, it works at 1080p and looks/performs better than the Wii U version. This version includes all of the dlc for the Wii U version of MK8, plus some additional characters/karts/stages. If you want mario kart, this is what you want.

Great game in the Mario Kart series. This is a deluxe version of Mario Kart 8 that was released for the Wii U. This game has all the great things that make Mario Kart fun. The tracks are great and varied with some popular tracks from older Mario Kart games. Controlling the game works great too. You can use the Joy-Cons, split the Joy-Cons for 2 player, and use the pro controller. They all work great and controlling the kart is responsive and tight. They also include a Smart controller mode which basically helps steer and accelerate, great for younger kids. They will feel they are actually racing and not have to worry about falling off the track. There a lot of content in this game: tracks, racers, different kart mods, and the online play is fun too. This is a must have for the Nintendo Switch!

I had Mario Kart on the Wii U and thought that game was amazing. The switch version provides a few tweaks plus more maps and characters making it the best version available. Add the portability factor of the switch and getting this game is a no brainer.

There is more here than just a graphical update. The DLC from MK8's release on the Wii U is included, plus a new Battle mode from the older games. The online play seems a bit more stable (though still prone to failure) and the frame rate increase to 60 fps is very noticeable and welcome. It plays best with standard controls, the tilt controls are accurate, but require a lot of movement and yet are still quite sensitive. For beginners (or people just not good at the game) there are assistance tools in the game that help you steer and drive forward. I'd advice the average gamer to turn these off since the 3rd level drift boost is only available if they're off, but the tools are great for young kids or people who don't normally play. All in all, there is a great list of courses and characters, and enough custom race options to make this a great upgrade.

Some of you may be familiar with MARIOKART 8 as it existed in the Wii U for almost 3 years now. If you are new to the game then I have to tell you that you are in for a treat. Welcome to Mario Kart 8 deluxe edition! What makes it deluxe? There were 2 packs of DLC (downloadable content) that added more tracks(48 total!), more racers(42 total!), more carts(40 total!), and added replayability to an already excellent game. Other than the aforementioned new carts and tracks, there are a few differences to note in this new version. There is a mode called auto steering that is default set on when you first start playing. This mode is akin to the bumpers that protect you from the gutter in bumper bowling, as it stops you from falling off the track and falling waay behind in the race. The sacrifice of having this mode on is that it will slow your cart down and/or redirect you to keep you on track. One of the biggest complaints is why this mode is auto set to be on? The answer however is simple, it's for kids and/or casual gamers so they jump in and not be overwhelmed right away by the complexity of some of the more difficult tracks. It's worth noting that this mode can be turned off before the race on the cart select screen. Hit ± or - and a small 3 option sub menu comes up below the carts stats. Hit L to deactivate auto steering, Y to activate physical driving (using the joy cons as a steering wheel), and R to activate auto accelerate, which I haven't used yet but I hear is pretty good. I feel this needs addressing most as this is the number 1 complaint I see online when it comes to the negatives of this game. It's relatively easy to shut off. Now back to the pros, which is basically the entire rest of the game, gain coins through racing or in the newly revamped battlemode to unlock new carts and custom parts for all of the carts. The battle mode has been redone as well, and makes the game that much more worth it. You can play multi player too, 4 players on one screen(which is tough in portable mode), or up to 8 if you and 7 friends all have a switch and mk8d... Online functionality is good but not great because Nintendo makes you jump through hoops to chat while you play. It doesn't bother me as I'm not one to chat with strangers online, bit I feel as though I'm in the minority on that line of thinking... It's yet to be said if there is to be any new DLC for this version but as it stands it's well worth your money and oh yeah... ITS PORTABLE!!! 3...2....1....GO! (get it)
