I was a fan of Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U, it was pretty much the only game I played on the system until I sold it off. Nintendo has another hit on their hands with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Not only does it have better graphics than the Wii U version but it's smoother (I experienced some frame rate drops on the Wii U) but there are new tracks and the smart steering feature makes it so kids and inexperienced players can have fun. There are more characters this time around (every DLC character for the Wii U version is included with the Switch edition), three new vehicles, you can carry two items at once, and the game runs smoothly at 1080p when using the dock. You can play locally with up to 4 people and there's support for up to 12 people online. I've played in my office with four people and it was a fun experience. The Switch's display was a little hard to crowd around but it was still fun. Anyone with a Switch should get this game, it is the second definitive title that every Switch owner should have. It's fun, the graphics are great, and everything has been unlocked from the Wii U version. If you haven't picked this game up by now, do yourself a favor and buy it. It's a great party game and the best entry in the Mario Kart franchise.

Although this version is pretty identical to the Wii U version, it adds a lot of little nice changes that I feel that are worth purchasing if you had previously owned this game. You had the addition of a few new racers, the change in gameplay by allowing the player to hold two items at once, the Boo item making its return from MK64, the addition of smart steering and auto accleration to allow newcomers to play with series veterans, a solid 60FPS as opposed to the 59FPS on the WiiU, 1080p HD graphics when the console is docked/ 720p HD when the console is undocked as opposed to the native 720p HD on the WiiU, and of course the big addition, a much needed fixed up battle mode with 5 new courses and 3 retro courses with 5 different modes: Classic Battle, Bob-Omb Battle, Shine Thief, Coin Runners, and Renegade Round-up (essentially cops and robbers). I can't say if this buy is for everyone because I know people see it as buying the same game again, but I feel personally it has added enough to make it worth buying and it definitely stands out as the definitive version of this game. And for anyone who has yet to own this game in any form, I'd highly, highly recommend buying as this is easily one of the best Mario Karts Nintendo has put out.

Definitely one of the first games to buy with the Nintendo Switch. Since the Switch comes with two JoyCons, you can automatically have two players with the game. Excellent controls and has replayability with the different stages, customization of characters, unlockable characters, customization of vehicles, and fun multiplayer game scenarios.

I’m really impressed in the way Nintendo hasn’t dramatically changed the gameplay in MarioKart over the year A-Z it’s nice to see a company recognize something is great the way it is and not try to change it for change sake.(I’m looking at you, COD) Really a blast to play!

Mario Kart has been fun since I started playing it on super Nintendo. Out of the box this is great and with Nintendo adding more tracks makes it even better.

Our 12 year old grandson was getting a Switch for Christmas. We found out at the last minute. Only store that had one available was Best Buy. I ordered online and went down and picked it up 2 hours later. Our grandson loved it and all of us are playing it from 12 to 78 years old. It is a fun game and keeps you on your toes.

Great game been playing Mario cart since the 64 and always impressed of how every year Mario cart always becomes the best Nintendo game ever I bought this at bestbuy and they were so nice to me and told me cool facts of the newest Mario cart, must buy at bestbuy!!

So much fun! My youngest daughter said I needed to buy this game since I bought a switch! We love playing as a family!

This is a great rerelease of Mario kart 8. It has all the features from the Wii U and more. The extra, much needed battle modes are amazing. The online is a little rough at times but Bering able to play on the go is great. If you owned this for the Wii U and now own a switch I would highly recommend this if you don't mind the full price tag still.

Mario kart is back again with a great edition. New races, new characters. Players are given the option to select their vehicles and race against each other and the computer. Great game!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the very best that Mario Kart has to offer. It is the culmination of trials and errors and feels right at home on the Switch. This is a must have for anyone who likes multiplayer games or likes to play with others frequently. All the characters and maps are available from the get go (including DLC content) and are sufficiently varied and plentiful. The only thing you have to unlock are vehicle parts that unlock from collecting coins as you race. It's simple and straightforward. There are options to make it easier to play for young children or novices, such as auto-acceleration (exactly as it sounds) and smart-steering (no falling off the race track). The mechanics are standard Mario Kart fare that if you're fan, you probably already know by now. Overall, it's as a complete package as you can get in an age where you pay for every little bit of extra of content.
