After all these years, Mario Kart will always be my favorite game. And this is definitely my favorite version!

So happy with my purchase easy to carry fun to play

I was a fan of Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U, it was pretty much the only game I played on the system until I sold it off. Nintendo has another hit on their hands with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Not only does it have better graphics than the Wii U version but it's smoother (I experienced some frame rate drops on the Wii U) but there are new tracks and the smart steering feature makes it so kids and inexperienced players can have fun. There are more characters this time around (every DLC character for the Wii U version is included with the Switch edition), three new vehicles, you can carry two items at once, and the game runs smoothly at 1080p when using the dock. You can play locally with up to 4 people and there's support for up to 12 people online. I've played in my office with four people and it was a fun experience. The Switch's display was a little hard to crowd around but it was still fun. Anyone with a Switch should get this game, it is the second definitive title that every Switch owner should have. It's fun, the graphics are great, and everything has been unlocked from the Wii U version. If you haven't picked this game up by now, do yourself a favor and buy it. It's a great party game and the best entry in the Mario Kart franchise.

First off I fall under the first time player of Mario Kart 8. I did not own a Wii U therefore have never played this game before. All I can say is this is pure fun. This game's attention to detail in course and character design is beyond imagination. So far I have put about 30 hours into it and still go back for more even when getting blue shelled, red shelled, then blue shelled out of first place. Even though the game can be brutally frustrating it is one of the additions to the Nintendo Switch that is a necessity. I mostly play single player either online or just in a solo cups. No matter what I play it is always fun and enjoyable. What makes this even better is I can play it out and about while getting my oil changed or just at home on the TV and it looks and plays the same. A side note: the only downfall is that when online there is no real way to just party up with a few friends for some quick races without jumping through hoops. This is not really the games fault though and more has to do with Nintendo lagging on getting their online network fully working which is supposed to be in beta/ready by fall (we'll see if that happens). This is a must own game for any Nintendo Switch owner.

This game is a blast whether I’m racing solo or with friends. The variety of tracks and characters keeps it fun, and the controls feel responsive. Great for casual or competitive play.

Bought this for my son for christmas. He lost the first one. Told him he wouldn't get a new one. We play it as a family for fun. Can't let a good mario kart competition go away.

What's not to like? Tons of characters, amazingly detailed, intricate tracks to race, multiple car configurations, and fun power ups! The fact that this game looks amazing both at home and on the go is a testament to the console itself. Highly addictive and truly fun for the family!

Amazingly improved graphics on existing tracks, the new tracks will blow you away. More importantly-the new battle mode is incredible. I thought I'd be disappointed, as I had Mario kart for wii-u, but all the new items + ability to play on the go with my SWITCH. Make this a must have game and an immediate hit for NINTENDO.

This game is action packed, excellent graphics, and a HUGE variety of characters and carts to choose from! Hours of fun and vast array of crazy tracts to choose from! This game has come a looooooong way since the original! A must have for Nintendo Switch owners!

This is the best version of Mario Kart 8 and one that should've existed in the first place up to the capabilities of the Wii U version. The largest change that is most welcome to this game is retooling of the battle mode. It is back to how the maps worked in previous mariokart games instead of being a small track. Battle mode now makes sense and is actually fun again. If the Wii U release had this version of battle mode, it would be a harder sell to get it on Switch. However now it is the largest tipping point. Playing on handheld is about the equivalent of the Wii U version that was also 720p. You can also take off the controllers and two player modes with ease. If you are crazy, you can get an additional pair of joycons and play with 4 people simultaneously on the portable switch screen. Does it work well? Yes! Should you actually do that? Probably not. While docked, it works at 1080p and looks/performs better than the Wii U version. This version includes all of the dlc for the Wii U version of MK8, plus some additional characters/karts/stages. If you want mario kart, this is what you want.

Amazing game, played every Mario kart ever made and this one is the best one yet. Runs great too

Great family game with the multiplayer option. Nostalgic with all the courses you get from the Mario Kart game line. Have lots of fun playing this game with my family. Great difficulty for someone who likes the challenge. Crazy that this game has been out for years and still $60 though. But overall have enjoyed every dollar spent playing with the family.

I originally owned this game for the Wii U, compared to the Deluxe counterpart, the Battle Mode and ALL DLC Characters from the Wii U version are included (and more). Let's face it, the Switch has beaten Wii U in life sales. Instead of bringing a system with a tablet that only reaches 30 feet to Play MK8 at a friend's house, I can just bring my Switch over to play for convenience sake. Worth it! Pros: - Everything is unlocked, all DLC Characters from Wii U version are included, plus more. - Proper Battle mode where you can face head to head instead of around a race track. - Take it on the go~! - Two players with ease (use the Joy-Con straps for better comfort - Note: Read the instructions on how to place in the straps before you hurt yourself!) - Double items and double item blocks = less of a gap compared to the Wii U version of the game. - Customize your Kart or Bike - PLUS New Parts have been added. Cons: - Already own the Wii U version - As mentioned in Pros, every character that matters is unlocked. - Gold Mario if you beat the game.

Love Mario Kart and the new levels are fun. Tons of characters to choose from and can play with many friends.

Mainly for my son, but I could play all day with him. Super fun as always. No major gameplay changes from the WiiU version except some extra characters and tracks, plus the ability to pickup more than one item which is nice. Mario Kart should be a staple of anyone's Switch library.

The kids and I all love this game. It's fun, easy to learn for even the younger players, graphics are clear and pop on the screens. A tad pricey and waste of plastic for such large packaging but all in all a good, fun buy.

Although this game is considered the same as the Wii U version, the Switch version is a whole lot better. A great addition to the Switch and with new characters and battle mode, it adds a whole new level of fun. My kid loves it and it's fun for the family. Definitely a must have.
