what's a Nintendo system without mario or mario cart this is what made Nintendo so popular with gaming I've never played mario cart 8 for Wii U So too me it's brand new game and love it I've had the Wii mario cart and that was also fun They hit it out of the park with this game

I owned Mario Kart 8 for Wii U and I had a blast playing it. I didn't get all of the DLC that was released, so I purchased this game again and I cannot wait to race on the new DLC tracks. The game looks gorgeous and it is very fun to play and the 200cc is no joke.

Coming from the Nintendo Wii's Mario Kart 7, the game is graphically stunning, and there are a variety of new, exciting, and gorgeous tracks with plenty of shortcuts. There are some classic tracks as well as newer ones. There are many options to customize your vehicle (e.g., parachute, wheels). Vehicle customization affects the acceleration, weight, handling, traction, and speed of the vehicle. All of the characters come unlocked, but you can unlock vehicles, parachutes, and wheels by collecting coins throughout the game. Interestingly, there is 200cc, which speeds up the track, so breaking technique is involved. Gameplay: I immediately noticed that MK8D requires a lot of drifting, which is different from MK7 Wii, where drifting is optional. I found it to be more easy to get bumped off the track by heavier players. Unfortunately, some of the boost items (the golden mushroom and star) give you less speed than they used to. The benefit to the star in MK8D is its invincibility, which is a great advantage considering that players can hold up to two items. The green turtles are much more likely to hit you, are much faster, and can bounce off walls. Getting a coin in first place is often frustrating as it is not a defensive item; however, collecting coins increase your speed. Why I Stopped Playing: The item balance is terrible. Even though Nintendo added cool, new items, such as the fire flower, boomerang, ghost, piranha plant, super horn, and the crazy eight, the item balance made the game unbearable for me. Not only can players hold two items but green turtles are faster and have better aim; there are fireballs that can bounce off walls and hit you; the boomerangs can hit you when thrown forward or when it comes back to the player; and you can get hit by a blue shell traveling on the ground. There are not always warnings for these items either; they can come out of nowhere. The game would be perfect if Nintendo rebalanced the items.

This game is by far the 2nd best game on the switch at the moment. As of May 2017. I love that all the characters are unlocked from the start. While the controls take only a few games to get used to them, they are still challenging at times. They AI is also tough on harder tracks.

My 12 year old daughter ask for this game. When I purchased it I didn’t realize the whole family would get addicted. After the 1st night I had to buy 2 additional controllers so we could all play together. We’ve been playing at least 3 nights a week since.

Mario Kart for Switch is awesome! Much better than Mario Kart Wii. It has so many more characters, gameplay options, and vehicles! Also you can either drive with motion controls, or the joy stick. One of my favorite Switch games!

I love this game. I bought it to play with my kids. They are 3 and 4 and playing with the wheel is very intuitive and funny! This is fun for the whole family

Bought this game as a present and not gonna lie I play it myself and have a lot of fun in multiplayer mode. Fun to play at home with kids on the big screen and portable. Nintendo knows home entertainment and Mario kart delivers.

It's fun! It's enjoyable. Exciting. The blue shells are like bombs. They blow up in his face all the time. Definitely recommend the .game, He likes it better than the Wii U. He likes the new characters

i could play Mario Kart forever. Always fun and competitive. ONly thing is it's a repeat of the wii u (for the most part). WIsh there was more to unlock or something that was slightly different.

Multiple players great game has tracks from previous mario karts like 64 and 3ds love that you can sit down withe my husband and children and play together eather on teams or race each other.

I've been playing Mario Kart games since the first one on the Super Nintendo, and I've yet to be really disappointed. Easy-to-learn mechanics, great graphics and a fun selection of characters and levels makes this another wonderful addition to the series.

Mario Kart is a classic! It hardly needs a review! If you’re looking for a fun game to play with family or friends over at your place, THIS is your game, sis! Or take it with you to their houses! The switch is portable, so what are you waiting for?!

mario kart was one of the first games I fell in love with and mario kart 8 has taken it to the next level. So many tracks with many classics remastered and brought back. A+

Another awesome entry in the infamous Mario Kart Series! Lots of cool features and game modes and all your favorite characters are back for another wild ride around some of the craziest tracks. it's fun for both adults and kids alike and I got it for an awesome price.

If you have played or owned Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U, then you know what to expect. This is pretty much Mario Kart 8 with all the DLC, plus some exclusives for the Nintendo Switch. Still gives you hours and hours of fun and replay value. Great family game for everyone!

Great game with lots of fun maps, cars and characters to try out. Fun for multiple players to be able to play at once with additional controllers. A bit pricey, but fun for all ages.

Cool 3d characters. Fun racing and throwing. The new school mario grapics are a plus compared to old school mario.
