A certain crowd-pleaser. If you have a Switch, you should also make sure to add this to your collection. It adds new characters, new kart upgrades, and some extra power-ups. It doesn't feel like an entirely new game because, well, it isn't. It's an upgraded version. But since the Switch's strength is portability and the ability to play with people with the attached joycon, it's a no-brainer to get this. Fun for kids, teens and adults.

I grew up playing the original Mario Kart when I was 12 and now it's a ton of fun to play with my kids. I use the regular controller but they use the steering wheel. So that makes it easy for my young kids to play. There's an option to automatically keep the gas pedal depressed, so they don't even need to remember to keep a button pressed down. My 6 year old gets it with no trouble, but a little over the head of my 4 year old.

Very fun game. Has a setting where your driver can't fall off the edges as well as a setting to automatically accelerate which is perfect for the casual player or the smaller kids. So many tracks and characters and ways to play. Battle mode is addicting especially online against other real people.

The switch lite is the first “new” console I ever bought my self and I had to get Mario cart along with it as a childhood classic in my Nintendo DS so long ago lol. And this game is loads of fun with all the apps from different games and consoles and the online mode is loads of fun

    MK8 on the go!

If you own a Switch, you need to own this game. Seriously, even if you owned MK8 on the Wii U, it's still worth picking this up. All DLC in one package, slightly improved graphics, it's not very demanding on the Switch hardware (so the battery lasts longer playing this than with Zelda), improved battle mode, and you can play it on the go! What more could you ask? Well...I guess you could always ask for more...but that just goes without saying.

The wife and I love playing this together. I wasn't so sure if I'd be into it, since I haven't played a Mario Kart game in long time. How wrong I was. Everything in this game is just fun and colorful and beautiful to look at. The mechanics are super simple so anyone can pick up and play. The best part is you don't even need to buy an extra controller to play this, as the game works with just half a joy con as a controller.

I owned this game for WiiU prior purchasing the Switch version. The Deluxe version comes with a lot of extra neat features that make it so much fun. The added portability of being able to play Mario Kart on the go, especially split screen with friends makes this a no brainer. Battle mode and Cops and Robbers adds new game modes and now that the DLC is included in the base game, online players are not split apart based on what DLC they own.

Great game my wife loves playing all the stages. Most fun playing with others. Will recommend for family fun. Got this game at a discount for Black Friday buy it when it’s on sales in my opinion not a $60 game should be $30 because it came out when the switch did few years back.

We are first time gamers and didn’t want violence games so we chose the Mario Kart. My 11-year old girls are loving every Second of this game. I myself joined them for a round or two and found the game to be fun and exciting! Crisp clear images, twisty routes and multi-player capability makes this game a must have! A bit pricey but then it’s a Nintendo game so no surprises there.

If you were never able to play Mario Kart 8 on Wii U (and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't) this is the definitive version of the game and an overall better version. You get the battle mode you want and expect as well as new characters to play as. Add to this the portability of the Switch and it's better than any Mario Kart to come before it. If you own a Switch and have any love for Mario Kart you owe it to yourself to own this game.

Really fun game for family and friends! Or even playing solo online is fun, but beware it’s a lot harder playing online. You will struggle at first but along the way it’ll get a lot easier ! And will have fun with the kids! I rate the game 9/10 overall, it’s really fun, a lot of courses, maps, characters, customization etc.

For those who loved MK on the Wii you will love this and see a huge upgrade. The new courses are great, the computer is much more challenging now and it's even more fun for kids because going off the road is a lot harder in this version. The graphics are awesome and design is top notch. I haven't done the online multiplayer so can't comment there.

There are enough upgrades here (including the ability to take it with you wherever you go) to make it worth a second look even if you own the Wii U version. And for those who never played MK8, it's an absolute must buy. The best racing the series has ever seen, tons of characters and tracks, revamped battle modes, two items at once, new modes for beginners to join in the fun, and more. Most fun I've had on the Switch after Zelda.

Mario Kart isn't feeding you a big story; it's not breaking new ground on the Internet with multiplayer; it's not the best racing game. It's just the easiest game to pick up, have fun, with a room full of people. It's easy to learn, tough to master, with various karts, wheels, gliders - all of which affect kart stats, as does rider weight - throwing shells, dropping bananas, shooting lightning bolts. And it's crazy crazy fun.
