If you can buy only game for the whole family for a new switch in your household. Make it Mario Kart 8. It's perfect in every way. There are various difficulty mode for any age above 5. The graphics are really eye catching and the multiplayer is a lot fun, both Local and online. It comes with all the DLC which includes 48 tracks. I would buy it in a heartbeat. I was able to purchase the game for $35 during Black Friday sale.

Love this game. Full nostalgia from playing the 64 games I grew up with. My daughter loves playing this game with me. User friendly and something the entire family can play.

Mario Kart has continued to impress in an almost perfect manner ever since N64. This version is no different. It is beautiful and easy to get started with for the newb and seasoned vet. My only concern has been the controls. Sometimes the gyro steering works, sometimes it requires the analog stick. That said, I spent no time looking for the setting.

Very fun game to play with friends on the big screen. There are tons of characters to choose from and many tracks as well. Great graphics.

Mario Kart 8 is less of a racing game and more of a chaotic family reunion where everyone brings banana peels and red shells instead of potato salad. One moment you’re gracefully drifting around corners like a professional racer, and the next—BOOM—a blue shell drops out of nowhere and reminds you that life is cruel, and Mario is laughing at your pain. The graphics? Beautiful. The tracks? Insanely creative. The friendships? Non-existent, because nothing says “love you, bro” like hitting your buddy with three green shells and then waving as you cross the finish line. This game has taught me two things: 1. Never trust someone holding a lightning bolt. 2. Luigi’s death stare is the scariest thing in gaming history. 10/10 would rage quit again.

This game is so much fun to play! I always enjoyed the Mario kart series. In fact, I have old Mario kart for every old Nintendo console. I own this game on the Wii U also. I was hesitant to buy for the switch since I have it for Wii U. But the game has some improvements over the Wii U. It has much better graphics, more characters, more levels, and online feature. I am glad I got this game! And I got it on sale for $39.99!!!

Such a fun, classic game! My boyfriend and I spend a few hours a week playing this on the switch, and its so much fun! There's a ton of different tracks, ways to play, ways to specialize the game for your needs and likes. It's so easy to learn too.

I’ve been playing Mario cart versions since N64 and this one is a pretty great upgrade. Familiar tracks and characters and then a ton of new ones. The controls are easy and I find less erratic than the originals so you can stay on the tracks which can have different ways to complete them, in each arena. Balloon battle is much improved and way more fun. The graphics are great and make even crazy fast tracks easy to navigate. Fun for the whole family!

Kid loves it, was the hit Xmas present even my youngest likes the game.

Doesn’t quite have the old school vibe as the old Mario cards but if you like racing in weird zero gravity like maps then this is the game for you. Even though the game pretty much drives for you I can still beat my kid. 3 decades later, I still got it

If you’re expecting a brand new game in the franchise, you’re going to be disappointed. But Mario Kart 8 was a great game for the Wii U and this Deluxe version for the Switch is a nice upgrade! It adds all the DLC from the original for free bundled in, as well as some additional new characters. This is, in my opinion, Nintendo’s best group game to play with friends! I bring it to family events and play with my sister and cousins, which is always a ton of fun — and now it’s portable on the Switch!

While I wouldn't say it's the best mariokart (double dash for GC) it is definitely the most polished. While it was on the Wii U, on the switch you get the definitive edition with all the bells and whistles. Also you can play it on the go no less! And boy is this game sweet eye-candy on portable mode due to the crispness of the smaller screen. Great game to have mindless fun especially when you play online, you no longer have to wait until someone comes over to play with you like in the times of yore!

I don't like playing the original on N64 - sue me. It controls like a lead balloon and didn't age well, and the nostalgia isn't enough for me to truly enjoy playing it. If I needed a fix, Double Dash was modern enough to do the trick for me. I just recently bought a Switch solely for this and Zelda...and maybe a little for the gimmicky but fun 1 2 Switch.
