Wii U owner / Switcher owner

Mario Kart is a staple

But since MK8D is their best-selling game, wouldn't it be more profitable for Nintendo to release DLC with new characters and tracks for that game instead of releasing an entirely new game? People who already have MK8D will most likely buy the DLC, but will probably not buy a new Mario Kart game unless it features massive new game-changing mechanics. I also think that MK8D already has so much content that there isn't much new stuff that they could add to a new game
