Best Iteration of a Gaming Classic

This game was purchased as a gift. While I do not have any experience with the Switch version of this title, I have extensive experience behind the wheel of Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U (on which this is based). Mario Kart 8 was able to reiterate on the series in a way with which to move it forward while still remaining true to its roots as a fun, easy for everyone, racing game. This Deluxe version includes everything from the Wii U version, plus more. The ability to take Mario Kart mobile and share it with friends easily make this a no-brainer recommendation. If you own a Nintendo Switch, this is a must have title.

Want fast paced action with friends, online, or by yourself? One of the best games on the Wii U is now one of the best games on the Switch... and even better than its original version. The battle arenas are actually arenas (unlike the first version of the game), and were a much needed upgrade. They give you a ton of stuff unlocked as soon as you start, and there's still more to unlock while you collect coins racing. The tracks, featuring a number from previous versions of Mario Kart remade, are all very well designed. The only con to the game is the rubberband effect, which is, as always, worse as the difficulty increases.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a masterpiece of multiplayer racing and a must-have game for Nintendo Switch owners. With its addictive gameplay, memorable characters, and exhilarating tracks, it delivers endless hours of fun and friendly competition. The game features a wide variety of tracks, from classic courses like Mario Circuit and Rainbow Road to new ones like Excitebike Arena and Mount Wario. There are also a variety of modes to choose from, including Grand Prix, Battle Mode, and Time Trials. The controls are simple to learn but difficult to master, and the game is full of strategic depth. There are a variety of items to use, each with its own unique ability, and the tracks are designed to be challenging and rewarding. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is also a great game to play with friends and family. Up to 8 players can race at once, and there are a variety of options to customize the experience. Whether you're a casual gamer or a hardcore racing fan, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is sure to provide hours of enjoyment.

Mario is so awesome and he is the best kart racer.. well Bowser is pretty good and so is Evil Mario and so is Wizard Hank. Wizard Hank has to be unlocked by conquering the quadruple race challenge in Level 67. I learned this on YouTube. Anyway, this is a great game for the whole family. We spend a little time each day when we can battling it out on the streets of Mario world.

Mario kart 8 for the Wii U was near perfect, but the battle mode was bad. Instead of arenas, it was in regular race tracks, and it wasn't as fun because other opponents were further apart. But in 2017, Mario kart 8 Deluxe was released for Nintendo's newest console, the Nintendo Switch, and it really improved the battle mode by removing the tracks and adding not only arenas, but new modes such as Coin Runners, Renegade Roundup, Shine Runners, and Bob-bomb Blast. There are also more characters, tracks, and items. It is a must game for your Switch console, even if you have the Wii U version.

This is so much fun! Super easy to play, but very hard to master, especially playing as multi-player with split joy-con.

This game is an amazingly fun game not just for me as a parent because all of us parents know that there are times it is nice to have a fun game system we can take with us to those long trips we dread but having a fun game to play makes it so much better! I loved the Mario Kart we had for the Wii U and heard that this one was going to have some really cool upgrades and boy were they right! Me and the kids love being able to hold multiple items.. We love the new characters and think this game all around it one of our favorites to use on this game console, try it... You will not be disappointed!!

I can't recommend this game enough, especially with the introduction of the driver assistance. My little ones can now participate and make it to the finish line. This feature can be turned off when the adults play. There is a plethora of tracks and characters to choose from. As someone who played on the SNES, this game brought a lot of fun and the core mechanics of the game are still there. It was like riding a bike... you never forget how to play Mario Kart! The game also supports amiibo figures that grant your Mii different outfits, but this is merely aesthetics and doesn't not affect gameplay.

The Game That Ruined My Friendships

Mario Kart 8 is less of a racing game and more of a chaotic family reunion where everyone brings banana peels and red shells instead of potato salad. One moment you’re gracefully drifting around corners like a professional racer, and the next—BOOM—a blue shell drops out of nowhere and reminds you that life is cruel, and Mario is laughing at your pain. The graphics? Beautiful. The tracks? Insanely creative. The friendships? Non-existent, because nothing says “love you, bro” like hitting your buddy with three green shells and then waving as you cross the finish line. This game has taught me two things: 1. Never trust someone holding a lightning bolt. 2. Luigi’s death stare is the scariest thing in gaming history. 10/10 would rage quit again.

Great for family game night! lets talk about the tracks, it been a while since I played so to start off the first track Mario stadium I think it's its a great first impression to a mario kart game so at the beginning you have three lanes then you keep going till you hit the anti gravity part you go on a big curve and then you hit that ramp and bam your gliding now oh yea and there is a helicopter there you land and then drive to the finish, then you have this sunken theme park track and it is fire so first you go up the stairs and then you take a sharp turn either to the left or to the right it depends to you go on this track until your under water then you go on a windy tur around some tea cups then you resurface take a turn and now your gliding to the through the bottom of a ferris wheel and there is also a ticket station and past that it the end.

Originally, I considered just sticking with Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U, but eventually decided to get Deluxe for the Switch primarily based on my friend's review and the fact that I hardly play my Wii U anymore. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe includes everything the original does, but also includes a ton of added features like new maps, characters, DLC, ability to hold two items, etc. It also has new features for beginners such as smart steering (basically prevents you from going off-road). This game is a ton of fun, and in my opinion, a must-have if you own a Switch.

Possibly the best Mario Kart game to date. Gorgeous game with an excellent art style, and runs at a native 1080p/60fps compared to the Wii U version's 720p. Additionally, it comes with all DLC. The tracks themselves are also peak Mario Kart, and with 48 tracks there's an amazing selection to choose from. The only negatives I have? I have no idea why Nintendo decided to make multiplayer split-screen *vertical*, rather than a more logical horizontal. Secondly: No option for download play, which is lame, honestly. That said, still an amazing game.

While I enjoy playing the more intense games that are feautured on the Xbox One or PS4; there is something nostalgic about being able to play any Mario games as an adult. I owned Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U and absolutely loved the unique experience of playing the game on that system; the Switch's version is nearly identical with a few minor changes/additions (ability to hold two perks at once for example). The graphics, user interface, & competitiveness is all there in this version... but the added ability to take the Switch with you wherever you go made this game a blockbuster in my opinion! If you own a Switch, this is the game you've been waiting for (besides Zelda BOtW of course!)
