Great levels, smooth play, too many "highlights"

You can tell the designers were excited to take advantage of the processing power in the Wii U, as all of the levels are beautifully done and have tons of depth. Half of the levels are new to the series, and half are re-imaginations of classic levels from prior versions. The only drawback is the highlights, little video clips recapping your race…there's one after every course (you can opt out of by clicking a separate button), and one at the results. They're entertaining to watch, but if you're an adult, you'll probably be tired of them after the first grand prix. Also, there are only 32 levels, so the "discovery" portion of gameplay is pretty short…a complaint that's always been applicable to Mario Kart titles. All that said, if you like the older versions, you'll like this one too!
