I bought this for my kids (actually they really wanted and worked hard to earn the money to get it). I've played it with them and really enjoy. They've even gotten my wife to join in and had her laughing right along with them. The game play is similar to previous versions, but I really like the ability to customize the cart.

I have been looking for a reason to purchase a Wii U and Mario Kart 8 finally provided it. This game is everything you could possibly love about Mario Kart with the addition of amazing graphics. It's easy for new comers to pick up and play and has just that right amount of challenge for series veterans. Additionally, the anti-gravity play that is new to the series is a welcome addition as you cling to inverted tracks and blaze through pylons that boost you forward. I can't recommend the game enough. Oh and as a bonus if you register the game with Club Nintendo you get a free game (I picked LoZ: Wind Waker HD.) How can you not love that :).

I've owned this game for 3 months and I already own both DLC packs, and have over 100 hours logged into the multiplayer online. This is the best Mario Kart released to date, and if you're already looking at the product page for this game, you need this game. Perfect mix of a party game and skill based racing game.

Nintendo can continue to churn out Mario Kart games of this quality for quite a while. I am very happy with this game and the updates for it. I can't wait to unlock everything in the game. I would love it if they had the mechanics from Double Dash as well but it is a solid game and a must have for Wii U players.

This game is absolutely gorgeous! The tracks are all really well designed and look amazing. The game plays smoothly and I especially love the DLC tracks and Characters! My only complaint would be that the character roster doesn't seem as good as Mario Kart Wii, but that's a minor issue that's easy to get over.

My two grandsons had their Wii "burn up," so their folks got them a Wii U. I therefore got one also, so that I could be compatible when they come to visit. MarioKart was their favorite on the Wii and it is even more so on the Wii U. Love the game and the improved graphics of the new console make this a real winner!

It's a good game, pretty much like other mario karts just updated graphics. However the online play doesn't work. I don't expect much from nintendo's online play but this doesn't work at all. nintendo has really terrible customer service. I have called four times the first two times a recording said they were too busy to let me wait to someone. The third time they said they would look into the problem and call me back within four days. A week later i still hadn't heard from them so i called back and a recording said they were to busy to let me wait to speek to someone. Very disappointed with nintendo online and customer service.

Do I really need to say how much fun this game is!?! I've been a huge Nintendo fan and so has my entire family. When getting together to chillax, along with some good food and drinks, we always bust out Mario Kart! Soooo entertaining, visually awesome, lots of levels and multiplayer, just flat out fun!!

This is a great example of what makes a great game. Simple to learn controls, addicting gameplay, gorgeous graphic, some of the best video game music ever made. The only down side is that playing with the gamepad is a little uncomfortable so I would recommend a Pro Controller. Other than that, this game is solid. A+++

MK8 is fun to play as a single player, but to get the most out of it multiplayer with 3+ players is the way to go. The tracks are interesting enough to race over and over. You can configure the race to use specific types of power-ups. My son and I are still exploring what MK8 has to offer and having fun doing it.

I've been playing Mario Kart since SNES and I bought this one for my kids and I to play. Lots of hours in it, no disappointment. The gameplay is a little different in this one from previous versions, i.e. the gliders, but it fits in nicely and adds a layer of customization to your karts that I find fun.

Mario Kart 8 is most likely the best Mario Kart game out there. It is challenging and fun and my 10 year old loves it. I do find that playing the single player game some of the AI is a bit OVERLY agressive and tends to cheat. You may spend 90% of the game in first place only to be peppered with shells as you cross the line to only find yourself in 6-8th place. I would say it maybe chance but this is almost every race and if you are in second the first place character rarely gets attacked like you do, so you still end up in 8th at the last second. Multiplayer is super fun for the whole family but a bit frustrating also. The player in first will almost always only get bananna's and coins, where others depending on how far get nothing but mushrooms and shells. It kind of balances out things but also gives people the farther back the advantage. It is a great game and the tracks are very fun and exciting but the non-random loot drops and the cheating AI kind of takes away some of the fun of the game. Still BUY IT!!! It is a great WiiU game and everyone should own it.

This game is fantastic. Seems simplistic at first, but once you get the fundabmentals down, the games subtleties really begin to show and shine. If you're a arcade style racing games, this one is for you. Just dont expect it to be a racing simulator (because really, who throws turtle shells out of a vehicle?)

I am an absolutely huge Mario Kart fan and I am loving Mario Kart 8. At first the high-quality graphics made it feel a little too non-Mario, but now that I am used to it and have really appreciated the details I love how beautiful the game is. The pace and controls are exactly what a Mario Kart game needs.

I'm not a hard core gamer, and as such don't play a lot of games. I'm not good at racing or Role playing games but this one is fun, and challenging. But not to the extent of I can't do this. So glad my friend recommended it. I love it and the ability to play with friends in other states is fun too.

This game is amazing. From the new track designs and remade old tracks to the subtle details really make this game a winner. The blue shell apears often enough to keep things interesting but the chance has been reduced from older MK games. Plus the new super horn gives you a fighting chance against it.

Playing Mario Kart never looked so good. With the new anti-gravity element added to Mario Kart, it feels just as natural as it looks. Pair fantastic visuals with masterful gameplay and you have Mario Kart 8. For added fun, an online component is included so you can race against people around the world.

This game has exceeded my expectations and is really great to pick up to play with friends on the couch and across the globe. The colorful fidelity and smooth animation really let's the gameplay shine through with a crisp look. If you get only one game with the Wii U, this is the one I would recommend.

This incarnation of Mario Kart is a lot of fun. I never played the Wii Mario Kart, but there were some really cool new features in this game. Online multiplayer is a lot of fun, they added a parachute that deploys so during races you can go off certain ramps and float/fly through the track. Lots of fun characters and Kart parts to unlock. Some of the Kart parts don't really add much to the game other than looking different, though, but it still adds to the game. You can play with old Wii controllers you have laying around, or the pro controller, or the Wii U gamepad, so theres lots of different ways to experience racing. Its a lot of fun, especially with friends.

Mario Kart's first foray into the world of HD makes it highly anticipated, and with good reason. The visuals are downright stunning and rival anything on the PS4 or Xbox One released thus far. Nintendo has clearly put a lot of emphasis on the emotions and mannerisms of their characters - and they want you to see it. Included after every race is the ability to watch replays in a variety of ways. You can speed these up or slow them down to a crawl to watch every agonizing, (or amazing) moment in crystal clear detail. Simply awesome. Beyond the visuals the game packs a ton of characters, both new and old, along with the ability to customize karts/bikes. Mastering this is essential to doing well against others online. The control is spot on and the courses are very well designed and most of all, they are fun. The music is very good and is orchestrated - it fits Mario Kart perfectly. This is a great game for both casual and hardcore gaming fans. It, along with Super Mario 3D World, are reason enough to take the plunge on a Wii U.
