Mario Kart 8, from someone that has played almost every Mario Kart game, is the best of the series. Unequivocally. That said, there's places the game could certainly improve. There's no options menu at all. As someone that is using the Pro controller instead of the gamepad, that means important data like times and the map appear on the gamepad and not on the TV screen. I'd at least like the choice. There's niggling issues here and there, but if you're jonesing for some more Mario Kart, MK8 is the best option you have right now, and man is it a good option.

Very similar to other Mario Kart games which leads to quick understanding. We really like the new kart features (mix & match), new courses, course replay, and 2 player online! We have relatives that also have the game so we can race together without having to leave our own homes!

This is mostly an update from Mario Cart Wii. Might say Mario Cart Wii on steroids. Many of the courses are similar, but not identical. Some are completely new. Game play is significantly improved. If you have the WiiU, this is a "must" purchase. GREAT FOR ADULTS AND KIDS!

Mario Kart 8 has the highest-quality graphics on the system. It also plays unbeliveable well and proves to be fun for anybody to play. Every track, every vehicle, every character was meticulously crafted. Additionally, the DLC is completely worth the already-low price.

Nintendo has done it again! Play as all your favorite characters! I love the fact that I was able to download one of my fav's, Link, and tear up the track as him. If you want to expand your game, get some Amiibos has it gives you extra perks: Skins, Karts, characters.

It's a great game, a little more difficult than the one for the regular Wii, the missing "Auto Drift" option might make it a little difficult for new players to fully grasp the turns, but even so, the game is great and the graphics are greatly improved. I highly recommend it.

The game is fun for my son & I to play. He's young, I'm old. But, we enjoy the game together, racing each other or on teams during challenges. We are still earning more car accessories. We love gliding after jumping off "cliffs". It's a blast & the graphics are crystal clear.

My 6 year old son asked for this for Christmas and loves it! He got two other video games as well, but this is the one he has played the most. We have all enjoyed playing with him, from mom to dad to little sister (4 years old). Same game I remember as a kid only better!

If you have ever loved Mario Kart in the past, you'll love this game. The handheld versions were fun, but I haven't had a good time playing the game on the tv since Double Dash on the gamecube. This new version is a lot of fun on the Wii U and is great to play with friends.

This game is a blast! The graphics are great, the coordination with the system are awesome, and there are a lot of additions to the game that are fun to win. As with Mario Kart for the regular Wii, the Wii-mote is hard to control. I suggest the game pad or Wii U Pro.

If you've been a fan of any of the Mario Kart games, then you will fall in love with this game! Awesome graphics, more depth to the racing mechanics, lovable characters, and a very fun online mode. Everything is in here when you experience the game for yourself.

Love every rendition of Mario Kart, and this won't disappoint. Game looks great and has the classic feel. Only problem, is that I got the $10 gas card with this, and so far every gas station I've taken this to, they have no idea how to redeem or maybe they don't want to...

This has got to be the best game on the Wii U to date! Fantastic for having people over with the multiplayer. Brings me back to my childhood playing Mario Kart for N64. One minor flaw is that the Battle Mode could have been done better. Regardless, fantastic game overall!

Everyone at our house from 38 to 5 LOVES playing together to race in MarioKart8. Tons of great, great looking tracks. Fun new items and cars to unlock. Fantastic soundtrack. If you were on the fence about this, just go pick it up. Easily the WiiU game of the year for now!

I am a Nintendo-Mario fan, and this game does not disappoint! Love the multiplayer options and that You have the opportunity online against friends as well. There are some fun new courses, lots of characters and different car options that will provide hours of enjoyment

I haven't had this much fun playing Mario Kart since Mario Kart 64. It's fun without being excessively difficult and the way you unlock characters is not frustrating although the randomness can be silly. I'm very looking forward to what Amiibo will provide in the future.

So far I have greatly enjoyed this game. It looks good, plays well (I use a Wii U Pro controller), and has a lot of charm. This one is definitely worth the money, and the experience can be enhanced with some quality DLC that can be purchased from Nintendo.

Before I start I should say I gave the storyline a low score because there really is no story. There's no reason for these guys to race against one another other than it makes a fun game. Mario Kart 8 continues with the customizable vehicles and adds ATVs to the mix as well as the bikes and karts. As you race you can collect coins which make you have a higher top speed but also when you reach a certain amount of coins, you unlock new parts for your vehicle customization. Racing is pretty simple, but as you play the game seems unbalanced between the first place person and everyone else. Nintendo's way of balancing this is if the computer is way in first, it seems to have them slow down at times so you can catch up, or if you're way in first they either speed up or they get better items. But when you're online, there's no balancing so usually one person gains a huge lead. Other than this I enjoyed the game.

Mario Kart is my favorite racing game and Mario Kart 8 is undoubtedly the best in the series. I had sold my Wii U but went out and bought one again after the new DLC for this game came out. That's how much I love this game. I own a Wii U solely because of it!

This is one of the best titles for the Wii U and I believe the best Mario Kart game to date. I purchased this game in May 2014 and am still playing it with friends and family over a year later. The visuals are stunning and there is so much detail in everything (mustaches flowing in the wind, character glares). The base game has 32 courses that are all unique and fun to race on. The game also seems to be more balanced then previous entries. The online play works good but the lack of voice chat is a disappointment. The DLC is inexpensive and give you 16 more tracks, 6 more racers, and a bunch of kart customizations. The zero gravity element is subtle and adds a great new dynamic without being gimmicky. The game can be extremely challenging for advanced players but also easy for casual play depending on the speed you choose. This is a great game that all can enjoy for many hours.
