Great for all ages

The soundtrack is great too. But the main thing, game play, I think this is the smoothest Mario Kart by far. If you're new to the series of have little ones at home, 50cc is a great place to race, have fun and learn how to play. If you have played other Mario Kart and your ambitions want to take to to 150cc, you're in for quite the challenge. You can now play up to 4 players on grand prix which is really awesome. All the coins you will collect with your friends and family are added together making local co-op a lot of fun. The online multiplayer works a lot better than Mario Kart 7. So anyway you look, this game is great. If you have a Wii U, pick it up, you won't be disappointed. If you're thinking about getting a Wii U, this game and a few other make it worth it to own right now.
