I was very excited to try the new addition to the Mario Kart family, and I was not disappointed. The game is fun, easy to handle the controls, and has more characters and stages than before. There's also new items that add an interesting edge to the competition. This game is much more fun to play with family and friends!

Mario Kart 8 is so close to being the best possible Mario Kart game so far. Every Mario character you can think of is playable, and there are even a few you probably can't think of. There are MANY customizable Kart parts to choose from, and it seems like you're always unlocking more. The tracks are a wonderful mixture of both new and original tracks, as well as expertly updated versions of classic Mario Kart tracks from the previous 7 games. Local multiplayer is excellent as always, and Online Multiplayer hasn't given me one problem. Very fun. My one huge glaring complaint is the way they chose to implement 'Battle Mode'... This is as close as Mario Kart gets to 'deathmatch', in that you're not racing to a finish line, but instead are just trying to pop everyone else's balloons before yours are popped. Last Man standing type situation. The best rendition of this mode was back on the N64, where it was treated with custom 'arena' style levels designed specifically for this game type. If Mario Kart 8 had simply done the same, this would have been the greatest Mario Kart game, hands down. Unfortunately this game places its Battle Mode matches on the same tracks that you race on in the standard racing mode... but with no 'finish line'. So it's basically a long winding hallway that players drive down in one of two directions. It doesn't allow for any real interesting differences in how the game is played, and therefore I say that Battle Mode is a humongous missed opportunity in this game. Having said that, the other 80% of the game is near perfection. Recommended Highly.

It's mario kart, yo. The online play is so fun! Play it locally in races with friends, though i'm not a fan of the battles on the race tracks. Wish they had some arenas that you could do those in like the N64 mario kart. But overall, very fun.

This is why you buy a Wii u. Gorgeous graphics, solid controls especially for the tablet controller. Yeah you can you use the second screen to track things but I found myself enjoying the game too much.

When I got online I was looking for a fun racing game that would give me thrills. I wanted to feel like a professional racer with the gas petal on my foot, feeling the engine vibration as I step on the gas! Then I saw this game and thought "who doesn't like Mario Kart" So I bought it. Totally worth it!

This game is great, it's got what you would expect from a MK game. The new anti-gravity feature on every track is awesome. The game is all-around faster. However if you were looking for that old school battle-mode that you were used to in previous games (mainly MK64), you will be disappointed. Instead of battling in the usual separate "domes", you are in the racetracks. It can take you all game to find your opponents, I have had this game a week and already the battle mode is dead to me. Other than that, this game provides many hours of fun racing and is a must-have if you need a new game to play with family or friends.

This is a fantastic HD version of a amazing franchise! I love the MK games. A healthy supply of characters, karts and courses to choose from. If you don't already own it, what are you waiting for?!

Bought this for my nieces and they fell in love, great game for young kids who look to enjoy games :) or even adults :D

Mario Kart 8 is an amazing game that I recommend everyone buy. The already released DLC really increases playability. Another round of DLC releases late April that will add additional courses, characters, and introduce a 200cc difficulty. Online play is so much fun and adds a highly competitive option

Mario Kart has always been a fun game. This one is the best. The controls are easy to learn. The graphics are some of the best I've seen on any game system. The game is fun for any age group.

A new mario kart is amongst us. There are new stages to be enjoyed, but everything wasnt an improvement. First of all you cannot stack power ups, there is no on screen map and the bike and kart upgrades are so-so at best. with that being said it is still a break from the norm and is still worth a buy!

Still the same fun you will get from the Mario Kart games. The new courses are great but the retro courses truly shine. The online works up to 12 players and you can take a buddy with you from the same system online. It provides hours of fun and entertainment for you and your whole family. Buy it now.

This is my favorite mario kart game since double dash for the gamecube. I wasn't expecting it to be this good and if you have any doubts about getting the wii u. this game surely won't disappoint you. The only cons are the koopalings and battle mode. The koopalings are a bit boring and it would be better if there were more diverse characters rather than 7 koopas. The other thing is battle mode. Battle mode uses the full courses instead of special stages so your going to find yourself looking for players all over the map which can get very boring. But other than that this game is amazing. Races are in crisp HD 60 fps, online is fun, and local multiplayer is second to none.

Amazing music, phenomenal art style and graphics, utterly fantastic game. Lots of unlock-ables, wonderful tracks. Insane replayability. A must-have. If you don't have a Wii-U, BUY IT NOW!

All the mario cart games are great this is no exception. This being the first one in HD, takes the cake. If you enjoyed the other MC game you will love this one

I consider this game a must buy for Wii U owners as the Mario Kart franchise is a great game everyone can enjoy from beginner to expert gamers. There's lots of content to unlock and if you're still not satisfied you can purchase DLC or utilize your amiibo to unlock even more content.
