I've been playing Mario Kart since the original on the SNES and I have to say that Mario Kart 8 is my favorite. I like it even more than Mario Kart 64 :) The controls work perfectly, the graphics are top notch, and it's definitely a title you'll be spending hours on end playing. But I am most impressed with the online play. Even if you play worldwide against players from France, Brazil, Japan (yes, all in one match and up to 12 players at a time!), there's no lag! Plus, you can play online up to 2 players. I never thought the online gameplay would be this great :)

Great music, great tracks, and a host of new characters to choose from. MK8 is the definitive Mario Kart experience. Get some friends together and enjoy!

Mario Kart 8 seems to finally be a worthy game of the series. Since Mario Kart 64 Nintendo's racing franchise has seen a steady decline in enjoyability due to recycled tracks, overpowered leader killing weapons, and new features that just didn't pan out. Mario Kart 8 at first glance seems to have addressed a lot of those issues, although they are still somewhat present. Still trying to figure out if rubber band AI is present as it is harder to get first place than in previous games, which is a good thing.

Finally bought this game after renting from Redbox mutliple times. A good add to the game library for my 9 year old daughter.

I thought this game was similar to the Donkey Kong County I played as a kid. It wasn't the same, but I enjoyed playing it.

Gret game to the franchise, graphics are stellar and new game play is awesome. All the characters are there and you can fly now.

Mario Kart in HD...finally. Nintendo really stepped up their game with Mario Kart 8. The graphics and sound are amazing, but what is more important is that the gameplay that has always been so great in Mario Kart is improved yet again. There are many control options which is great for experienced and novice gamers. Anyone can have fun racing and throwing shells. The track variety is great and changing from land to sea to air in one course is a blast. The online multiplayer is really good - especially for Nintendo. If you have a WiiU, Mario Kart 8 is a must own.

Looks great. Feels fluid. AI in single player too easy, Online ridiculously hecktic.

Ignore Battle Mode and the rest of the game is fantastic. The control, the customization, the cheap DLC, THE MUSIC!!! If you have a Wii U, you probably have this game. If you have a Wii U and don't have this game, you need to fix that

Mario Kart 8 is a roaring good time! Much better than Mario Kart on the Wii. Full, beautiful HD visuals, online play, and a still-active DLC content stream one year after release make this the best Mario Kart game since the SNES original.

This Mario Kart delivered the best Mario Kart experience ever! Detailed courses, chaotic items, an abundance of characters, and a fun-filled co-op experience all return again topped with amazing visual fidelity, improved online play, and Mario Kart TV. Mario Kart TV is great for revisiting those amazing moments achieved on screen. Hit someone with a shell, then knocked them of the course? You can show that off to anyone at any time and even upload it to YouTube. Mario Kart is an amazing kart-racer infused with Nintendo fun, a must-have for all Wii U owners.

This mario kart is amazing. The only complaint is that battle mode is different as there are no battle maps you battle on actual race courses, but hopefully this is fixed through DLC so it's not a big deal other than that this game is phenomenal.

the video graphics are great improvement to last mario kart. video replay is fun to watch after each race. fun for all ages!

Mario Kart 8 is probably the best in the series. It combines classic gameplay from the original and the best improvements from the later games. The harder difficulties provide veterans with challenging opponents, which may bother some newer players to the series. The battle mode uses tracks from the game and not special arenas.

Exceed expectations. Mario games are always a treat to play and this one is no exception. Fantastic game with new characters and vast improvement.

Have been having fun with this game. Love racing the different courses and the graphics are awesome. Loving all the new characters to play with.

The first Mario Kart game in HD - the game looks amazing. The sound design is also quite good. Most tracks sound like they were played by an actual band or orchestra. the new tracks and the anti gravity gimmick help freshen up the formula. Also, the AI isn't as "cheap." the game doesn't punish you as much for being good at it. and they even included an item that can stop the Blue Shell! Great for family play. My wife loves this game.

Very fun though the lack of voice chat during races is a let down. Also I would have liked an option to creat my own cup for playing with friends online instead of this randomized voting system that has to be done after every single race.

I know Mario Kart has a long history - seems everyone in my family has been playing it for years. But I left for college right after we bought the first Nintendo, so I never got sucked in. But when I bought the Wii U for my kids this Christmas, it seemed an obvious choice. At 2 and 4 they are a little young to finish a race on their own, but they don't seem to care. If we ever do more than the first race, I'm sure there will be lots of fun levels. I definitely enjoy it.
