I got the Wii u alone just to play this game, and it doesn't disappoint. Great fun and challenging.

As is common for the Mario Kart series, this game is so much fun. Also, the graphics are stunning. It's the best racing game I've played. Though, if you are familiar with the series and you enjoy the unique Battle Mode maps, those aren't present here. Battle Mode is still an option, but you have to play through the standard courses. That's actually not as bad as it might seem, but I thought it was worth pointing out.

This game is so much fun (just like all other Mario Kart games)! There are so many options for characters and karts, and plenty of courses on which to race... Especially if you purchase both of the downloadable expansions for less than $12 more in the Nintendo eShop. Playing online is a fun way to connect with others and to challenge yourself to get better, but playing alone against the computer players is just as much fun!

Overall have really enjoyed the game. Downside is for that price you would expect to have all the tracks and characters unlocked. Instead you still have to buy a bunch online. Disappointed I can't play the Zelda level without spending more money.

Takes what we saw with Mario Kart 7 on DS and improves on it immensely. The addition of hovering vehicles is pretty cool. It's awesome to finally see this game in HD as well, it really is gorgeous. the base game has more than enough but do yourself a favor and spend another $11 on the DLC bundle, it has some of the best tracks the series has seen yet and the new characters outside the Mario universe are a great inclusion.

Mario Kart 8 is a cool new chapter in the Mario Kart series. The game play is fun and the new characters make it enjoyable. It is a fun game to play alone or online to compete against others. Would recommend to anyone who has or hasn't played the series.

Mario Kart 8 is a lot of fun . It's challenging but not too difficult that it isn't enjoyable. The online mode is great and connecting to it is easy. Another great feature is the ability to share videos and upload them to youtube. The biggest drawbacks are the lack of a mini map for all players and no longer being able to hold an extra item. I give it 1 star for storyline because there is no storyline and there doesn't need to be.

MY FAMILY LOVES TO PLAY THIS GAME, WE HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE MARIO KART GAMES, BUT THIS ONE JUST TOPS IT, NOT ONLY THE CHARACTERS AND THE VEHICLES BUT THAT ABILITY TO FLY AND GLIDE YES MAKES IT TOPS. THIS IS A FUN MUST HAVE FOR THE COLLECTION.

OK I've been playing Mario Kart game since the beginning SNES days. It always been fun, but jumps to a whole new level with beautiful HD graphics and on-line play. Many of the tracks are rehashes of tracks from previous version, which seems like a negative, but look and feel so different in HD almost pass off a brand new. I'm certain sure the big N will release DLC with new tracks and mode to keep this playable for a long whle

I bought this with the idea that it would be a game everyone in our family could play and I wasn't disappointed. It's a great game to play by oneself, playing others online, or playing other family members. Plenty of challenge for those with very good skill and for those who struggle with typical video games. We like that you can select between racing or battle each other (try to pop each others balloons).

This game is great to play with friends and family. It's a long time coming for a great franchise to come to big HD screens. Playing on the tablet seems ok, but the game probably works better with the WiiU Pro controller. I don't think it works very well on a sideways held WiiMote.

I have been waiting for Mario Kart since the day I bought my WiiU 2 years ago and I do not regret the wait one bit. The game is ridiculously fun and welcoming for players of all ages. The game has a lot of unlockable characters so the replay value is great and the graphics are beyond belief. It is quite simply one of the most fun games out right now and if you enjoy time with your family, you should run out and buy this now!

Mario Kart 8 is as fun as Mario kart 64. Items are great, tracks are great, split screen is fun!

Fun for the whole family. Multiple people can play, as long as you have all the controllers. Easy to play and also has multiple levels of difficulty. The online function flows easily and is fun to play as well. There are always people to play with. Highly recommended. Not very good with the options, changing the screen setup or anything like that is out of the question. But that's a flaw I could look past.

My son loves it. He loves the new tracks and new vehicles as well as the new characters.

I was apprehensive about the hype surrounding this game since Nintendo seems to update the same game every time a console is released, but it's just as fun as always and the graphics and physics are on par with the Wii U's abilities, making it a worthy upgrade to previous versions. I own Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7 for 3DS so my recommendation isn't based on lack of recent experience playing the series.

Mario Kart 8 stands as one of the best in the franchise. The multiplayer is smart, relatively lag-free and engaging. Though I wish this one had some of the modes in previous Mario Kart games such as the Grand Prix Cup in MKDD where you play every single track in one cup and I probably would have liked more retro tracks done up in HD this package is still very extensive in content and a pleasure to play.
