Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the smooth gameplay and overall performance of Mario Kart World, including its phenomenal soundtrack. The open-world feature is also considered fun by some players. However, there are some concerns regarding the map design, with some players finding the tracks to have extensive straightaways. Additionally, the lack of vehicle customization options has been noted as a drawback.

Expensive but fun.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was a little taken back at the $80 price tag. However, after playing and putting a bunch of hours in (including my toddler) i realized it’s worth it and we got our moneys worth. Plus, it was the only official Nintendo game at launch

Wonderful
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s so much fun and honestly, I like the game mechanics in Mario kart 8 (the zero gravity) a little better but overall this game feels so much smoother and I’m addicted

Fun Open World Mario Kart
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s fun & it’s Mario Kart, so it’s still fun so many years later, but I would have to say $80 for this game is too much

Fun game, maps are questionable
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gameplay is fun but maps turn out to be just a wide open road straight aways. Maps also are never the same few laps, normally one long one. But at the end of the day its still mario kart and fun

A massive world with a ton to do
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who has never been much for the online multiplayer aspect of Mario Kart since MK Wii almost two decades ago, I found that Mario Kart World has much more to offer me. The open world filled with nearly 400 missions (which range from simple to infuriating) and more than 300 collectibles is a much more compelling prospect than simply playing through Grand Prix like in most past titles - though the option still exists if the open world really isn't to your taste. There are times that the open world really does feel empty - long stretches of freeways or fields with barely a mission or collectible in sight - but I found that this only added to its charm, and when you consider how much there is to find overall and how much time you could spend doing it all, it is hard to really call it empty. If I had one complaint, it's the map - there really does need to be a better way to track missions, at least marking the ones that you've done so you know where to look for the rest. For completionists, this is likely to be a nightmare - but for more casual players, there are dozens upon dozens of ours of engagement just in the free roam mode. I understand the controversy behind the $80 price point, but considering that I have spent almost 40 hours in the open world alone (with at least another 20 to go), and the standard Mario Kart fare still exists on top of that (Grand Prix, online races, battle mode, and the new Knockout Tour mode), there really is a ton of content on offer here. There is no denying that it is compelling even at its price.

Most underrated Mario Kart.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn’t the best Mario Kart ever, but it’s easily the one that pushes the franchise in a very different direction. I’m not going to act like free roam is important or even all that much fun. But, this mode allows us to explore the Mario universe in a very different way with zero limits. Knock mode is my favorite mode of any Mario kart game ever made. The only 2 things that’s holding this game back in my opinion: 1. Customization took a huge step back from Mario Kart 8, the only Mario kart I think is better overall by the way. You have zero customization across the karts. 2. While the game is HUGE and the tracks offered are all excellent I feel that they need to add more tracks. Does this mean the whole world needs to expanded? Not necessarily. They can have races and tracks that take place elsewhere too without needing to add to the map. They can for example add a huge arena that changes tracks for example.

Almost endless fun, but not perfect!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a perfect evolution of Mario Kart, it's so much fun to finally get to drive off the tracks and into the lively Mario Kart World! There are so many innovative, fun, and pretty challenging missions scattered around the expansive map within P switches and plenty of hidden collectibles too. While in some areas the world might feel a bit bare, there are plenty of opportunities to practice the new "parkour-style" tricks and race around while exploring the track areas, and tons of unlockable characters and outfits to keep almost anyone entertained for hours. 24 competing racers and an even larger power-up item catalog makes the chaos you expect in a Mario Kart game 10x crazier. My only main complaints so far are: 1) Online play with friends is confusing to start and overall not very well thought out. I imagined my friends could be automatically added to my "world" in free-roam mode, but you have to manually create rooms or hope that you could join an online battle match with them.. and that can be a chore when you just want to play with one or two friends on a whim. 2) There isn't a great way to track progress in this game. This might be done purposely so the emphasis is on driving and exploring, but I was a little sad to find there isn't a way to see your time records for different P switch challenges, or even just a sort of leaderboard to compare with friends of any sort. This could be added in the future, and I hope it eventually does, because that could add a lot of replayability to missions, cup races, and battles. This game will undoubtedly provide potentially hundreds of hours of fun for everyone, and that alone makes this game worth it.

Very fun return to Mario kart
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game has been so fun to play since it came out. I really enjoy how smooth the gameplay is and how alive the animations feel for the characters and the carts. its something that you don't notice until you go and play other cart racers or even go back to Mario kart 8. I think there is a solid amount of course variety and the design seems to be fresh. The courses are beautiful and very alive with things that happen. one of the highlights for me is dk spaceport where the robotic dk follows you up the course and has grand animations. I have been very impressed now that the game has been out for about a month with all of the "platforming" stuff that has been baked into the gameplay. when the game came out I didn't realize how big of a roll this was going to play in the game. But you can see how wonderfully tracks and the wider open world has been designed to allow you to get creative with this your driving expression. I really like the new knockout tour mode. this to me has made the game so fun and keeps me on the edge of my seat for the whole race... even in offline mode. The thing that I have spent the least time doing is playing in the open world. I like a lot of the challenges and stuff in the world, but I almost feel overwhelmed with not knowing where to go or what to do and somehow it also feels slightly empty at the same time. I'll load into the open world, and then after a couple minutes decide to go back to the menu and just do a normal race. I think if I was younger and had more free time, id probably spend a ton of time in the open world. I think the thing about this game that will make the difference is how willing Nintendo is to keep the balancing fair for items and carts. Right now I feel like it isn't worth being in first place until the very end because you get bombarded with items so much. this is much more of a problem than it was on Mario kart 8. overall I have really enjoyed my time with this game and can't wait to see what Nintendo has in store for the future of the game.

Super Fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite all of the controversy involving its pricing, Mario Kart World is a fun diversion. I, for one, love the free roam mode and exploring and searching for all of the itesm scattered throughout the world. The races are also super fun with a large variety of tracks.

Best Mario Kart game so far!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a few reservations about some of the things Nintendo is choosing to do with the new generation switch to console but it’s one and only new first party launch title is a home run! The intricately interconnected courses and diverse gameplay make it very easy to replay over and over again and still have fun. Nintendo plans to introduce more courses, and characters over the years as downloadable content which make the $80 price tag a little bit more digestible as long as Nintendo follows through on its promise to continue to support the game for years to come. I would recommend this game! Not that you really have any other option, until Donkey Kong Bonanza comes out if you want an all new game that was made specifically for the console. Either can’t go wrong with this. It’s got multiplayer fun for the whole family and friends. If you already have a switch 2, I don’t know what you’re waiting for!

Highway to Shell
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like your friends? No you don't, because you bought Mario Kart! Mario Kart World is a welcome new entry into the series, mainly because it gets more right than it does wrong, which may or may not change with future game updates. The true question you have to ask yourself is: are you fine with paying $80 for a 8 year (or more) piece of entertainment? + Knockout Tour is terrific. With or without those friends you may have lost buying this game. + Playing up to 24 racers at once truly ups the chaos. + Both the animations and the soundtrack are amazing. - Free Roam Mode is lacking. As interesting as it is, there simply isn't enough to do in free roam and there's less incentive to do so, less you like Photo Mode or just want to soak in the world's details. - Ballon Battle Mode areas are mostly housed in huge racing courses and not closed off arenas, like absent legendary arenas like Skyscraper and Block Fort. These huge courses keep the chaos uneven. On multiple occasions, I drove around for a complete minute and saw no one, despite it being a free for all with 23 enemies.

Well crafted but sort of empty
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The long and short of it is that this is the best feeling Mario Kart game there has been, the racing itself is fun, but in terms of the Open World thing it’s pretty lacking. Feels similar to when Fallout 76 was released with uhh.. not that much to do. Again, it’s fun to play so it beats 76 out there, but I’m sort of hoping they will like.. add reasons to play the Open World part of the game? It’s very charming but sort of aimless. Would not personally recommend it right now until they add some more meat to it which I’m sure they will.

Most Expensive Mario Kart Delivers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Mario Kart series, but having an $80 price tag is a gut punch. Thankfully the game is fantastic! The new open world mode is simple but fun, especially in shorter bursts. Plenty of secrets to find and challenges that may not give great rewards but still feel rewarding. I do think there are not enough traditional linear tracks, instead favoring the non-linear "every lap is a different area" formula with a 4:1 ratio. The knockout mode plays better into these kind of tracks but most people are here for the traditional Mario Kart cups and racing with friends/online. Fun items, HUGE soundtrack, great graphics and controls. It is unlikely to be my favorite Mario Kart but it is very fun so far. $80 is pretty darn high though; maybe with a little bit of free DLC (like new karts or characters/costumes) I will feel less bitter but for now it keeps me from giving it a full 5 stars.
