One of the biggest new features to Mario Party 10 is the Amiibo support. In fact, many early copies of the game came bundled with a Mario amiibo figure, and the Super Mario Bros. amiibo line was made specifically for Mario Party 10. Unfortunately, the amiibo mode in MP10 is really boring. The board is a boring square shape, nothing really crazy happens either. You can obtain new board pieces and save them to your amiibo, then each player can use their amiibo to choose a board piece. But they always form a straightforward path around a square, and while each character's board pieces can have different special spots with effects, it's nothing to get excited about. So the amiibo mode might be lame, but what about the "normal" Mario Party? It's pretty good. You can choose from several boards with multiple paths and more interesting events, including boss fights. All the characters travel together, which is something introduced in Mario Party 9 and was something that not everybody loved. I think it's a good idea because it makes the game go faster. It's a perfectly adequate Mario Party game, now in HD for the first time ever. There's nothing spectacular about it, but it's still fun. If you've never played (or owned) a Mario Party game before, then I would definitely recommend picking this one up. For everyone else who has played the many previous games, there's not much reason to get this. As a last note, you do need Wii remotes to play this game -- not WiiU controllers. So make sure you have them!
