Good Mario game alternative to platform games

It wasn't fun for my 6 year at all, neither was it for me. It's actually boring and not entertaining at all. I was really bummed out because I thought "oh well its Mario this shall be fun" but it was not. I honestly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Mario karts is a much, much better option, a few bucks more expensive but let me warn you that its really worth it, seriously!!
