Awesome tactics game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was apprehensive when I saw that a Mario title was being pushed out by Ubisoft, but when the description was a tactical game, I had to give it a shot, and I'm glad I did. This is like XCOM with a fun Mario story. The difficulty is just right, teaching you how to play the game as it goes along. A solid title

Great game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Initially bought this game for my wife, and I could tell that she didn’t understand how to play it. She eventually stopped playing. I am not a fan of the Rabbid games, but I do love Mario games. I’ll admit I had to figure out how to play the game correctly, and I’ll say that this was this a great game.

Fun Strategy Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surprisingly, this is one of the Switch's best games right now. Just a really fun strategy game that's built in the Mario world, plus the Rabbids of course. I was not crazy about the Rabbids thing, but they kinda grow on you after a while. If you liked Mario RPG from the SNES days you will enjoy this.

XCom meets Mario
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unique strategy based gameplay in the spirit of XCom, but with the charm of the Mushroom Kingdom and Rabbids for good measure. Lengthy campaign and many secrets. Nintendo always has the best first party exclusives, and the Switch is no different, they have come out of the gate swinging this generation.

Excellent strategy game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although many were worried about the mashup between Nintendo's Mario and Ubisofts' Rabbids, the latter which have qualities that make many adults cringe, the actual product finely balances the line between keeping the Nintendo faithful happy while allowing the Rabbids' crazy and zany antics, all within a surprisingly deep and entertaining turn-based strategy game, along the likes of the new XCOM. Some of the game's best moments are the interactions between the main cast, a mix of Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi, along with Rabbid counterparts, Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Luigi, Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Yoshi - who are all imbued with their namesakes personality, amped to 11 and twisted. In classic strategy RPG fashion, battles get increasingly harder as new abilities, heroes, and enemies are introduced. It isn't as hard as XCOM, with a simplified cover system (no sight, 0%, 50%, 100%), no permadeath, and teams of 3 (Mario required always), but crazy random abilities like fire (cause running around randomly), bounce (extra damage for "ring out"), vamp (heal on hit), and abilities like dash hits, team jumps/stomps, fear/attract, etc. keep things interesting - along with analogs to overwatch, shields, explosives/area weapons (with splash, friendly-fire damage), critical hits and other familiar elements. In classic XCOM fashion, it feels so good to plan out a strategic attack that executes better than you expected, but the RNG can hurt you as much as it can help, as occasionally the enemies, who can use many of the same abilities, will get lucky, destroy your cover and critical with multiple bounce hits and overwatches to knock out one of your heroes in 1 turn. Weapons can't be changed, each hero has their own primary and secondary (gun with explosive or melee), and upgrades can be bought, with usually 2 secondary types per character. For example, Mario has a "blaster" and hammer with choice of honey or bounce effects, while Luigi has a sniper and a exploding drone with bounce or oil effects. The main quest has upwards of 40 main levels, each or each pair with a Gold Medal awarded if none of the heroes are knocked out, as well as challenges once each world is competed, keeping even experienced players occupied for a few dozen hours completing challenges and trying out all of the combinations of heroes.

amazing game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i didnt know what to expect and even didnt rush to buy this game when it came out but when i did oh man its one of the best buys i have on my switch. its a game for people who like strategy and think strategies can be fun. the difficulty isnt too large, the concepts work well for the game. it simplified, enhances and creates a new experience for anyone whos looking to play something different. I reccomend this game for someone above 10 years old. someone willing to sit down and think. if you have any eclectic kids who pride themselves on coming up with solutions to problems or want super mario video games to offer a little more brain twisting . this is your kind of game.

Overlooked gem
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a good turn-based strategy game, you'll want to give this game a try. It has the cartoonish aspects of the Mario world (compared to series like Fire Emblem) . There are a lot of map gimmicks that keep things fresh. It's a much better experience if you're specifically looking for a single-player game. There's a co-op mode, but no multiplayer experience for something like pokemon or fortnite. This game was on sale for $15 on black friday, which was a great deal. I would watch out for a sale around the $20-25 range, though, because this game is often found under $30.

Fun XCOM-style gameplay with a unique theme
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have played xcom or advance wars this is kind of a similar concept. Even if you've never played that style of game this is still very fun and very accessible to all. It is a top-down turn-based game where you control units on a grid-board. Well executed gameplay and memorable characters.

Interesting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never played the previews Rabbid games, but found appreciation in their novelty. This game is a refreshingly interesting entanglement of two wacky worlds dancing in a weird complement of each other. Additionally: Mario with guns? Total fun all around. Also, the game just looks beautiful.

Buy this game if you like strategy games.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game may look a little childish with Mario and the Rabbids but it is a deep strategy game that will keep you coming back for more and more. Excellent collaboration between two of the best video game publishing houses.

Excellent Strategy Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been one of my favorite games of the year. The strategy combat is excellent and the Rabbids even managed to be more funny than annoying.

Great XCOM-Lite Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the idea of battle strategy games, but I don't always have time or patience for analyzing every scenario/statistic/stratagem to approach each battle. I'm a lot more interested in playing out battles in this game than in XCOM 2 or other, more dense strategy games. Lots of fun to use your familiar Nintendo characters in new ways too!

I absolutely love this game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this game. I have never played anything like this, no XCOM style games, no games at all really except for just really easy stuff, games that don't require much thought, like Mario Kart. I didn't think I would like this one, but I gave it a try. I'm 37 years old if that makes a difference, but I would say that this is a family-friendly game. There is some potty-humor, some flatulence and sometimes Beep-O (the leader that looks like a robotic vacuum) has an attitude and he may swear but the swear words are in this form - #%&$! - and it only happens 2, maybe 3 times. I think that would just fly over a young child's head. There isn't any blood or gore and it's not incredibly violent - sure, you're "shooting" and blowing up characters, but it's tasteful - they just sort of disappear instead of piling up around you. Some of the puzzles are surprisingly difficult, or maybe I'm just not nearly as smart as I thought I was. I had more trouble figuring a few of those out than I would like to admit, lol. I was frustrated at first, even though looking back the game starts off incredibly easy. I just had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. It definitely gives you a chance to learn the ropes, so if you are like me and have never played this style game, you CAN easily pick it up. It does get increasingly difficult, and pretty quickly. If you are skilled at these types of games, I wouldn't worry about it being too easy altogether. Once I got the hang of it I could not put it down. I just beat the final boss last night and I was thrilled to find that there was more to the game after that - you can go back and do more things and find hidden "Ultimate Challenges". The animation is fantastic. The scenery is beautiful, the characters are adorable, the bosses are really cool. Rabbid Peach is my favorite - she's a social media obsessed diva. She's always stopping to take selfies of herself with her cell phone and when the team loses a match or challenge she yanks off her wig and crown (off camera) and throws them towards the other 2 team members. It's just really cute, I found myself laughing out loud a lot during gameplay. The soundtrack is marvelous. I have come across a couple of glitches in the game - the "A" button sometimes stops working and I can't do anything - I can bring up the menu with the "+" button but it's just scrolling through really quickly, I can't select any of the options. All I can do is close the software and start again at the last saved point. During the last few chapters of the game I had some trouble with the software closing on its own - an error message that said something like this software has encountered an error and needs to close. Hopefully, those things are fixed with future updates or patches, if that's possible. I am very happy that I went outside of my comfort zone and gave this game a try. I hope there are more like it in the future. I give it a 10 out of 10. :-)
