This is the first Switch game that I got really into with over 40 hours of gameplay. It was slow at the start, but it is worth it to keep going. I was on a mission to find Yoshi! I would recommend this game for all ages.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is a mouthful of a title and a concept that thoroughly confused me when I first heard it (the first offical Mario + Rayman crossover is not a 2D platformer, and Rayman is not in it‽) but I gave it a fair shot, and it is an excellent take on the Xcom flavor of turn-based strategy games! On the flavor side, the story that sets up the game is not particularly deep or interesting, but individual character moments are still fun and charming, and particular characters will definitely leave memorable impressions even if the overall story does not. In terms of visuals, Mario + Rabbids is nothing special—most things have that plastic-y low-texture-detail look gamers have been used to since the 2000s (albeit now in HD)—though the designers did, at least, take advantage of the art direction and put a decent amount of fun details into the world. On the gameplay side, however, is where Mario + Rabbids really shines. The weapon damage types and cover system are easy to pick up, and the difficulty ramps up in a way that continues to challenge without overwhelming you. As you upgrade your characters and their weapons, the characters' individual strengths start to shine through, but never in a way that felt like the game was pushing me to use a particular character, or be too attached to my existing party when I unlocked someone new. The individual battles within the campaign are usually short enough to be convenient to play in bite-size chunks, which worked well for me since I played most of this game on-the-go in handheld mode. I would definitely recommend it if you are a fan of games like Xcom and want a sort of lite version to play on-the-go, if you are looking for a good intro. to the genre, or if you just want to see a wacky Mario-inspired take on it.

While there is a little bit of a learning curve the game as a fresh twist on the Mario series. Graphics are amazing and you would expect nothing less from the game series. Learning curve is about 20 minutes for younger players. Controls for the game could be improved

I loved this game. This is a pretty good XCOM clone. The game is actually very challenging and a ton of fun. I loved having Mario and friends cooperate with the Rabbis. The DLC was a pretty good deal for the price. This game is a must own for your Switch collection.

As an avid fan of turn-based strategy games, I was excited to pick this game up. Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed! This game is truly a masterpiece, with a fun story, tons of content and lots of unlockables.

As many have said before, this odd crossover of a game seems really strange at first, but once you play it and start to dive deeper into the world and mechanics, it's a very fun experience. Warning: the game can be really slow at first to pick up and has a fair level of challenge, but don't let that deter you from the experience. Like other strategy games, sometimes experimentation is key and each battle will require a unique approach. If you take the time to learn the mechanics and how each move you make can alter the battle, you'll enjoy the game a lot.

This game was going to be one I passed on when I originally heard about it. After watching trailers and seeing reviews, though, I picked it up. It’s a great strategy game with a soft difficulty curve. My only problem is that there wasn’t a lot of replayability.

This was a game I never saw coming and has surprised me at every turn. Not only is it a GOOD game with Rabbids in it, but it's a beautiful Mario Strategy game. It's about time Ubisoft put something different out.

I love Mario but loathe those annoying Rabbids. However, this is a very well thought out & fun strategy game. It might be a bit difficult for younger players but overall is a fair challenge, everyone loves it!

Very fun game I love Mario games and I have also played rabbids games which are just as fun so mixing the both with a different style of game play makes it that much more fun. I also love that you can coop play.

What can I say about this strange game? A turn-based tactical strategy game starring an unholy blend of Ubisoft & Nintendo properties shouldn't work, but it does, & it does it really well. I can't really explain the surreal feeling I had when I saw Mario pick up a gun for the first time. This is (probably) the closest thing to an XCOM game we'll get on the Switch, & I'm okay with that (I'm pretending Fire Emblem doesn't exist for this part of the review, because I'm really trying to gas this game up). Peach is so B.A. in this (we love to see it), & the bosses were really fun. Some genuine laugh out loud moments in here, if not just from occasionally remembering the absurdity of it all while you're playing it. I'm just really glad that Ubisoft came up with this & that Nintendo actually let them make it. It never got repetitive for me, but I am a big fan of turn-based tactical strategy games like this, so your own results may vary. My main complaints are the controls in the overworld/out-of-battle areas are a little weird to get used to, & the lack of online play. I'm imagining a sequel with full online multiplayer battles & a stage editor a-la Mario Maker & Smash with shareable levels. A dream! A literal DREAM! If you like XCOM & you have a Switch, this is a no-brainer. If you've never played a turn-based strategy game, but you think you might be interested in the genre, this is a great way to get your feet wet before diving into the deep end with Fire Emblem: Three Houses chained to your ankles.

Mario never disappoints! My kids love playing this game.

When i first heard about this, I was appalled. As Ubisoft showed off more and more, I got intrigued and as it turns out, this game was amazing. Purchased it on day one, completed it and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Solid Game, I enjoyed it overall but could see how it might not be everyone's cup of tea.
