Special attack animations are jarring, no longer shown on the battlefield but an ambiguous, generic space. The increased but not fully voice acted cast (except the robotic characters) is off putting. Making the Rabbids speak removes the fun of their gibberish. But besides that, there is a distinct lack of quality of life features. Menus are not only unintuitive, but they're difficult to navigate. Probably the absolute worst oversight is that there is no way to view all of the stats for each character. What RPG does that? Well, not good ones. Overall, it feels like Ubisoft took the carefully crafted, wild idea of Kingdom Battle and applied generic AAA company ideas without understanding how those standards should or should not be applied. I'll do happily play Kingdom Battle again and again, but I have no desire to go finish the second world of Sparks of Hope. It's a shame, too, because the story is an interesting idea.
