I was expecting easy game play like wii sport but it definitely has a learning curve. So my advice, play the story line so you learn all of the mechanics first.

Foot Fault! Mario Aces stumbles

I have fond memories of playing Mario Tennis on the Nintendo 64 for dozens of hours against the computer and other people. But this iteration was not worth it. There have been improvements through various updates but the core of the game doesn't have the same magic as other Mario titles.
