At its core, MvC:I is a competent fighter, but all its other pieces of the puzzle: visuals, style, voice acting, music, story, etc. completely drag down the overall experience. I'm a long time fan of the series and I can't shake the feeling that, at times, it feels like I'm playing a mobile version of the main series- it's devoid of any style, charm, and polish that all the previous entries had. While it's heavily reworked mechanics harken back to older entries in the series and aren't awful, just about everything else is.
