The web swinging takes front and center, and it's an absolute pleasure to roam around as Spider-Man. The combat takes some getting used too, and is tolerable, but never as fun as simply running around the city. The character moments and voice acting are stellar.

This game is excellent! My son love it so much he stayed up for too night playing it.

Game plays like batman arkham city with a splash of prototype wall running, flexible web slinging from building to building and a combat system ripped from the rocksteady mold. The only problem is that the combat presents a spiderman that is fundamentally weaker than batman. This spiderman could effectively lift huge concrete blocks but can't knock out an average build security guard or street thug. Batman on the other hand can take on roid abusing murderers en masse without any superhuman handicap. This makes human enemies an unnecessary chore on higher difficulties. Upgrades or not, superhuman strength and durability are not something peter parker developed after an extended period of time. Boss fights still make sense. Beside that fact, the rest of the game is very faithful to spiderman lore in its environments and characters.

It’s refreshing to finally get a good Spider-Man game. Not since the PS2 movie tie-in is there finally that breath of fresh air from playing. Check out reviews from gaming sites and you’ll see this game is universally praised. Does it have repetition issues? Yes. Will you care? Yes. Will it deeply bother you? Nope. The combat and swinging mechanics are worth diving in for even if you’ve completed mostly everything.

One of the best single player games. Especially a spiderman game that I have been waiting for.
