It's so nice to be able to play a Spider-man game that isn't being held back by a movie license and a lazy publisher that just pushes out half-assed efforts to get a few dollars from fans who have no better options. Spider-man on PS4 isn't the most original Spider-man game: anybody who has played previous games and the Batman Arkham games will be able to see what concepts Insomniac has decided to take and build upon. To be fair, Insomniac's touch can be felt in the gadget wheels and suit powers and mods. What makes this game so good is just as how polished and well executed it is, with great graphics, a great story, a large villain roster, fun combat and swinging mechanics and one of the best virtual renditions of Manhattan ever made.

I already knew this game would be incredible given Insomniac's top-notch track record over the years, including everything from Ratchet & Clank to Sunset Overdrive. First off, the production quality is superb with amazing graphics, fantastic writing, and a buttery smooth gaming experience. I will say that, given the way open-world games operate, that some of the side-quests and mission structure can get a little samey. Luckily, you are given the option from jump to progress through game at your own leisure, be it by completing every side mission, finding every collectible or blazing through the story. Whichever way you choose, you're bound to enjoy every second and I couldn't recommend Spider-Man more. 5 out of 5!

When this game was announced I was worried it would turn out to be some boring beat em up where it just happens to be you're Spiderman. When I actually played the game I realized how amazing it is. All of the game's mechanics make for fast and engaging combat, that has you slipping around throwing punches and gadgets. Even just navigating the city is fun, you swing around New York sometimes stumbling upon collectibles, crimes, or the occasional Easter egg. Another great part of this game was the story, while sometimes being pretty cliche and predictable, it felt like it could've easily been a Spiderman movie.

Excellent story. Side missions are very well made. Beautiful graphics. Controls are easy to learn. Overall just a very fun, very well made game that’s fun for everyone even if you don’t like super heroes.

I’ve been excited for this game ever since it was announced. I don’t think I’ve played a Spider-Man game since Spider-Man 2 on the PlayStation 2. If this new one could capture just a little bit of how amazing it was to swing throughout the city as it was in Spider-Man 2, I would be happy. Going into it I knew it would be a good game, but I can’t stress enough how blown away I was and how much it exceeded my expectations. I didn’t expect the story to impact me as much as it did. It’s definitely a tear jerker. Everything about the game is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone. This is definitely a game of the year contender. Got this game on sale- well worth it! Lots of cool spidey stuff in a huge open world! Controls are quick as could be expected with Spider Man. Great story and tons of stuff to do for replay value

For the longest Marvel had been struggling to make a good open world superhero game to rival DC’s Arkham series and I think with Spider-Man they finally found their footing. This game is amazing down to the graphics and dialogue. The voice actors I was especially impressed with especially with Spidey, for example when Spider-Man is talking to someone while not moving he sounds normal but if you are swinging or fighting you can hear that he’s winded which I thought was amazing and realistic detail. The open world is insane the scale of this game is so accurate and the way they were able to add certain historical landmarks and blend them with a fictional comic book world is amazing. I highly recommend!

Insomniac games really knocked it out of the park! It has perhaps made the best spiderman game of all time due to them crafting a great story, fun combat, and best of all, the greatest web swinging in spiderman gaming history! Only complaint would be the tacked on open world elements that can get repetative, but this is a minor nitpick in an otherwise great game that ranks up there with batman's Arkham series. Can't recommend this enough!

Best hero game, and particularly spider man game, in years. Controls are smooth, game play is fun. Some of the side/filler missions are a bit chore like, but the main story and game play is great.

This is a fantastic game. It reminds me of the Batman Arkham games. Fantastic graphics, easy controls, tons of villains, great story, top notch voice acting. A must have for any superhero fan.

The story and acting are very good. Gameplay is rewarding and it’s fun to see yourself get better as you progress through the game. I can’t stop playing this game. Swinging around is the best!

A mix of Batman Arkham series and Uncharted for game play mechanics. Very good story and excellent graphics. You feel like Spidey swinging and running up walls. Highly recommend.

I had high expectations and the game did not disappoint! The open world was very well done. Good story so far and really like all the side missions. Very comparable to the latest Batman games.

This game lives up to all of the hype. You don’t have to be a Spider-Man fan or even a fan of superheroes to enjoy this already-classic game. First off: it’s gorgeous; character models, the city landscapes, draw distance, etc, are fantastic. The voice acting is also top notch, and the writing is great. The gameplay borrows heavily from the Batman Arkham games, but manages to carve out its own identity. At first the controls can appear overwhelming, but soon you will be swinging and zipping through New York with ease. If anything, the side missions and random crimes can get a bit repetitive, but there is always still enough content to keep you satisfied and engaged.

Without a doubt this Spider-Man game is the best one out there; combat, story, and of course the swinging are the best version of classic Spider-Man elements ever put into a videogame.

before i played this game the best super hero games in my opinion are the batman arkham series. The attention to detail is really great. the game world feels alive and reacts to your actions through out the game via newspapers you find and jonas jamesons podcast. the combat does feel lifted from the batman games but sped up alot faster. instead of gargoyles spidey perches on steel beams to do stealth takedowns. the web powers and traveling through the city feels awesome. the story is good and leaves some room for improvement in the inevitable sequel. for whatever reason if your on the fence about picking this up, you should, you wont be disappointed.

I picked the game up for $40. The detail in the game is amazing. I've only played for a few hours but so far it's well worth the price. Swinging around the city is a blast. The fighting is reminiscent of the Arkham games which I find very satisfying. Different moves will take down different enemies so there is a fair bit of strategy involved in taking on a group of thugs. When you chain together combos taking out the baddies, It's just pure fun. Yes, there can be some repetetiveness but I feel like there's enough of a variety of side missions to keep it fresh. Overall I think this is a great game so far and would definitely recommend it.

This is the Spider-Man game I have been wanting since I was a kid playing on my old Atari 2600. The controls are quick to learn, and swinging around NYC makes you feel like the real Spidey! Great gameplay mechanics, a terrific storyline, and the voice acting is professionally done. I have had this game for almost a year now, and I have played through it at least three times. Sometimes, I load it up just to have fun web-slinging around town and Marvel-ing (sorry) at just how faithfully they have recreated NYC! Basically, this game does for Spidey what the Arkham games did for Batman. Buy it now!
