Chances are no one will read this, but maybe someone will be confused on how there's a review and a thread will start To start im a console gamer, I may get some hate for that, and if you don't like it my gamer tag is the same as my nickname, so spam me. I recently got rid of my 360 and can't play the original Mass Effect series anymore, my favorite game series, ending and all. (I was fine with the ending, it wasn't the way I would've done it, but it is what it is. Lately, I've been playing he trilogy on my PC and don't like it. So I'm hoping this listing is for a remastered next-gen trilogy, and not a rushed ME4. I would take a trilogy this year, in exchange for more development time for ME4

    Decent Game

The Gameplay is Ok. And by summary I mean that if you want to jump upon a ledge or over an obstacle be sure to measure the distance because if you are a millimeter too close you will judder and gyrate but go nowhere and look like you have parkinsons. Also you will be a sitting duck to be whaled upon buy the enemy until death, rinse and repeat. FIX YOUR JUMP MECHANIC BIOWARE! This is the single most reason for 3 stars. If I could just jump properly I would rate 5. But when you can't program a single simple mechanic, like jumping correctly, maybe you need to rethink the "game development" path you have taken in life! Also, FUGLY women! Why Bioware, why? The first 3 games had beautiful human women and hot as H-E double hockeystiks alien women. Dialogue and story are meh at first and then the story takes off. And yes there are weird animations and glitches. IDK why my copy has an abhorrent amount of bugs but Bioware is usually good about fixing bugs. All in all, if they would fix the jumping problem it would be a great game. Overall I give it a 7 out of 10. it would be an 8.5 but when you can't jump it is extremely hard to overlook.

    Mass Effect: Good, Maybe Great

Things to keep in mind: * This is a different story in the same universe. * First version on next gen systems * A lot of the the actual play is better than any version before * Suffers from same graphics issues and gripes as every version before as they attempt to push their game engines limits. (All those games received 9/10) * Lead Designer left franchise * The new aliens and depth of story is lacking a bit. * Voice acting on point * More great music What you can take away here is this game is really a great game, but received a lower score for those of us that have been with the franchise for a long time. You could feel a 'color-by-numbers' approach to the production of the title. They took few chances, delivered a clean experience and just like "The Force Awakens" attempted to re-intorduce a game franchise to a new generation. Every Stephen King book isn't amazing and they sometimes follow the same formulas. Video games are no different. We discuss a bit of that in our podcast https://soundcloud.com/attleorldedia/wla-ep-43-mass-effect-andromeda. Hope this helps.

Gamergirl here. Graphics are great. Characters facial expressions a little awkward though. You can create a custom face for your character, making the character more personal. So far very fun and very in-depth kind of game. Feel free to check out my mass effect andromeda gameplay walkthrough series at youtube channel PandaFist

A good story tries to overcome a steaming mess

This game has an enjoyable narrative with deep upgrade mechanics. Those are the only good things that I can say about this game. The voice acting is mediocre at best, laughable at worst. The dialogue is not well written, and if you care at all about your sanity, NEVER look at the facial animations (especially the eyes). A game that had great potential on paper that is just too broken to give a good review.

Not as great as previous ME games but still decent

In my opinion, the story and the characters just don't feel as important or engaging as the original ME games. Still is a great stand alone game though and if it wasn't for all the bugs I would have given 5 stars.

For the record, if you have never played a Mass Effect game, you may think this game is great. If you have, then you and I both know that this game way short of the Mass Effect bar of quality. It is a good, solid game built on decent mechanics. Problem is that its predecessors were amazing games built on even lesser mechanics. So it just leaves you feeling like "what happened?". For the fans out there, all I can say is "Ryder is no Shephard."
