    Lid problems

I loved this machine at first BUT a little over a year later we started having problems with the lid. Now the hinge disintegrated and broke completely off. According to repair man this is a common problem. I really thought Maytag products would be better than this. The whole lid will have to be replaced AND it’s not covered in warranty. Really disappointed.

I've had a front loader and didn't care for it so I knew I wanted a top loader. Really liked the design of this one, with the smoked glass top and shiny white color. I've been using it for a little over a month now and have been impressed with how quiet it is, how clean it gets the clothes, how much room there is inside, and how easy it is to use. It feels like a friend helping me with laundry!

My experience with Best Buy was awesome. I bought an insignia washer that stopped working so I went back and exchanged it for a Maytag and it’s been the best washer I’ve had yet! Great customer service from all the employees at Best Buy. I had geek squad come to trouble shoot a noise that ended up being a balancing issue no big deal. And the guy from geek squad was very respectful and helped me understand exactly what I needed to do. Shout out to Best Buy in Eastgate Ohio y’all rock!

Easy to use, and pretty quiet. Seems to clean everything nicely. I was worried this wouldn't fit as much as my old front loader, but it easily washed an entire twin sheet, comforter and mattress pad all at once. Handles large towel loads too.

I love this washing machine. Easy to use and gets my clothes very clean. Extremely quiet, and efficient. This washer comes with an agitator as a top loader ( which I wanted) but was a surprise because sales rep indicated all the Maytag top loaders did not.

This is a larger machine than the last one, and for that I love it. But the OXCI cycle...crazy about that. The tub is large and has an agitator thank goodness, the last one did not. Cleans well and quieter than my last Maytag.

Nice Maytag / Whirlpool Agitator Washer

Let be honest, the washing machines from years ago were much better at cleaning and more durable, but destroyed the clothes. Our recent Front loader was nice, but didn't clean very well and had a long cycle time. Mold Issues were also evident. This Maytag machine has a glass top and electronic controls with an agitator. We have had it for plus six weeks and found it to be better than the LG front load machine in cleaning. So far so good. One bad note is that it is very selfish with water. The over ride option for extra water is nice but it is limited to Full load. Too bad it does not have a 1/2 load setting. Over all this appears to be a good machine with direct drive motor. ( no belts! ) At this point we are satisfied though my wife has a hard time getting clothes out of the deep tub since its up on a pedistall. The sales person @ Best Buy say these sell out fast since its a top loader with an agitator. Consumer reports rates the cleaning not so good compared to the front loaders. Who knows what the truth?. We are happy with this unit so far. Note: Please note that Whirlpool manufactures Maytag machines currently. Good Luck in your purchase!

    Plenty of room

More room inside than we anticipated. Laundry is done in fewer loads. It is not super quiet but that was not a qualifier for us. Because the spin cycle is faster/stronger at the setting we use, there is some excessive vibration but clothes come out more dry. All items must be added before water will start to fill. The door locks when in use, probably as a safety feature, so no adding last minute clothes. The soap tray always has a little bit of water in it but that keeps soap from gunking up in the tray over time, so if that was by design, very smart. It cleans very well, we’ve never had to question an item on that. We’ve owned this about three weeks.

I have only had it 2 weeks, but already love it. Uses just the right amount of water automatically, spins almost totally to the dry point. This saves money for the gas dryer. My clothes have been spotless, so I rate it very high as far as cleaning clothes goes. I eat a lot of meals with food on my lap while watching TV, so to say my clothes are "spotless" is quite a meaning full statement. So far, I love this washer and so happy I picked the Maytag. The capacity would take a Queen Bedspread with ease.

Seems to get clothes cleaner than previous machine

I like the settings, but am not sure I like the water-sensing for level of water. Seems like there should be more...even with the deep fill option. Wish I could add water with most loads. A couple times there were clumps of powder detergent left in detergent drawer, but perhaps there was too much put in. Or it was not leveled out. The max extraction is too harsh on the clothes I think and then clothes seem to not get the wrinkles out in dryer. Although it seems I have found many negatives, I do like it as I think clothes come out cleaner. I like seeing how much time to finish. I like being able to see in. Through the lid. And I believe the agitator is a necessity, especially after reading washer reviews and speaking to sales people. I don’t think it is any noisier than my last machine, and it definitely has stayed more level so far. I like the large capacity. Have only had it a couple weeks, but so far, I am satisfied.

This is only our third time purchasing a washer in 42 years. Our first washer was a Maytag, as was our second, so there was no doubt our third macine would be a Maytag too. It was delivered on time and installed quickly. It washes well and is much quieter than our 20+ year old machine. We'll be saving on water and energy so it's a win-win situation. With its glass top you can check on the wash, if necessary, without opening the lid.

I spoke to many people prior to purchasing this washer. Many said that washers without agitators simply do not clean the clothes. I did a great deal of research prior to purchasing this washer. This washer does very large loads. It has an agitator and an impeller. This washer can do one load compared to two loads in my old washer. This means that I am doing fewer loads. You must read your manual to see all the wonderful features. It actually does everything my old washer did (and so much more). When you are doing large loads in this washer, you will need a large capacity dryer as well or else you will have to divide the load into two loads when drying.

I had to replace the exploding Samsung, but I actually wasn't saddened by this, as I feel like clothes only get truly cleaned with an agitator. Although this isn't like the old agitator models, it still cleans, and hasn't damaged any clothes. It's also not noisy. Louder than non agitator models, but my clothes come out actually clean - so I'm ecstatic!

    Really Big Tub

The tub is really big. Even for a family of three, I feel like I keep adding more and more clothes, and never come close to filling it. (Not that I know how much I can fill it, since no one gives out manuals anymore.) It was tricky figuring out how much soap to use, also, since this is our first HE machine. The marking on the detergent tray for maximum level is a bit confusing, but I've come to determine that if I can smell the detergent a little on the clothes afterwards, we probably used about the right amount. Speaking of the detergent tray, we were disappointed to find that it had started to rust on the back of the slide bars after only a few loads. (It is nice that we can pull the tray out to empty the water and let it dry, though.) I had trouble initially learning to start it. It says to hold the button to start. I was interpreting that to mean to press down on it. Now I know not to do that! I do not agree with the reviews that say it is noisy. The sounds are just different than the old style machines. The banging it does make when it 'shifts gears', so to speak, is somewhat loud. But overall I would say it is probably softer than a traditional machine. (And by the way, the repair technician who 'educated me' about the start button told us that if it didn't make all those noises, he'd be coming out to fix it.) Overall I like the machine and like how it has preset cycles, but you can still customize the individual settings, such as temperature or spin speed. My biggest complaint is the length of time it takes to wash, averaging 50 minutes to just over an hour.

    Excellent Machine - HUGE tub!

Love this machine! The tub is HUGE! The design is clean looking. I can literally get 2-1/2 loads of laundry in this machine as opposed to the one that this replaced. That alone saves me time every week. I chose this one because of the agitator being an actual full agitator which helps balance the wash load so I'm not expecting any problems with the machine filling up to help balance the tub as I've read in reviews. Being high efficiency, it requires HE detergents. I bought six TIDE HE detergents on sale so that covers the higher cost of the detergent for many months. Highly recommended. Try to catch it on sale as machines with agitators cost a bit more. Five weeks of washing and I'm lovin' it!

This Maytag washer replaces a Maytag that was 40+ years old (including a rebuild about a decade ago). This one has large capacity, 10 year warranty, and really quiet operation. Those are the pluses. The minus is that it is slow -- takes an hour, give or take a few minutes, to run a load. Like most new appliances, I don't expect this to last 40 years like the last one did -- but neither will I!

This is so big-I have to use tongs to reach clothes but it is going to be great for those big items. Really the ideal machine for a large family. Quite the water saver and so quiet. The sensing feature has been neat and the spin cycle too. I keep wondering when I will get use to the settings but each time gets easier. The see through top is nice too.

Replaced old style agitator washer with this. It has an agitator too, it’s a little too “smart” for me but I’ll get used to it. Others complained about not being able to reach clothes in the back of the drum due to the depth of the drum, but you can easily spin the drum to the front if you are having trouble reaching back. Best feature is the “max extract” spin cycle, clothes dry quickly as most of the water is extracted! Took me a while to figure out that I needed to choose “max fill” or “bedding” if I had a larger load, as the machine is stingy with water otherwise. Takes a lot longer to wash loads with this new machine, but it still is much more efficient and quieter than my 20 year old machine. I’m very happy with this washer.
