Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the 4.7 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer's cleaning performance, large capacity, quiet operation, and ease of use, with many praising the agitator and effective spin cycle. However, some customers have expressed concerns regarding the washer's reliability and the lid lock feature, citing instances of early malfunctions and inconvenience. The large tub size is also frequently mentioned as a positive. Overall, positive feedback significantly outweighs negative comments.

Had to replace prior washer because OFF BALANCE load(!!!) could not be repaired by Whirlpool repairman. SO very disappointed in this one. First of all you are severely restricted at the choice of water levels. The machine selects so your dry clothes are above water when the agitation begins. Finally decided to wash everything on BEDDING cycle to cover the clothes in water. This machine is LOUD throughout the entire cycle. If your laundry is not in your basement do not expect to do anything within 30 feet that you need quiet like TV or phone or dinner. The water runs constantly throughout the cycle, so don't think you will ever not hear water running and gears grinding. The machine feels cheap and shakes & vibrates loudly with spin. I cannot believe I did not send this one back. Sad that this is the quality to come. Several sales people told me don't even expect to get 5-8 years out of any future washers.

I like the washing machine not the price. My last machine lasted less than 5 yrs. Let's hope this one is better. Now my dryer is acting up. They just don't make things like they used to.

After studying the specs on washers, we decided we wanted one with an agitator. We looked at several different brands and went to several stores to get information on the pros and cons. We then read many reviews and decided this washer was the one we wanted. We have not been disappointed so far.

I know because I visit about 100 homes every year that have this issue with front-load washers. I'm very glad that Maytag STILL offers top-loads. It's truly been amazing and at a great price of under $600. 10-year warranty!! No Brainer!!

New machine broke after two uses

Unfortunately, I had to call a repairman less than a week after the installation of my new machine. The machine was installed correctly; however, an internal hose ruptured and leaked water all over our laundry room floor. Was very disappointed in that a Best Buy tech came out after a few days, but said he couldn't repair it because "Maytag and BestBuy are fighting and I am not allowed to fix it." (Um, why could no one tell me this when I called Best Buy initially with the problem?!) SO, I had to wait another week, calling Maytag and getting a repairman out, only to have to wait several more days for the new part to be ordered and to arrive. SO, in about a three week time frame, I had to block out valuable time for three separate appointments, and only was able to use my new washer for two loads until it was fixed! Quite frustrating. With that said, I am pleased now with the machine. Just am hoping that it will last.

We have had our Maytag washer for about a month, and have not have anything go wrong. The dials and electronics seem simple to work for us and it has been doing clothes and getting them clean.

It seems to be a good machine. You just have to wash full loads any imbalances in the load and it doesn’t spin dry. So I’m unsure of how it’s gonna play out

I love this washer. The only issue I have is with the deep fill feature. It still senses the weight of the load and deep fills what it thinks is deep. You can easily override this by adding enough water to dampen the clothes and make the load heavier before starting the cycle.

I replaced a 10 year old washer with this new Maytag -- Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. It isn't load as some reviewers have stated. I would recommend this washer for sure. Best Buy did a price match with Lowes, so I decided to purchase it at Best Buy to receive reward points.

Bedding cycle with deep fill only way to get deep

Took delivery on first week of Aug. 2019. Wife had lots of laundry waiting. After many cycle tries, we found that we needed to use the “bedding” cycle with “deep fill” “on” to get clothes covered with water. However, this cycle extends wash cycle to be in excess of one hour, which is unnecessarily long for normal loads. Machine is quiet and seems well made, with good out of balance control. Exchanging for GE GTW685BPLDG at Best Buy. It has not been delivered yet.

Our washer was installed and we began using it immediately. The water level is different on each load so there is a saving on water used. I like the small agitators as opposed to the large ones and the machine with no agitator.

    Lid hinge breaks!

Have had this washer for three years and no complaints. The buttons are a bit testy sometimes but does a good job washing clothes. All of a sudden the plastic on the hinge is cracked and breaking off. Look it up online and so many people with the same issue!! Not covered under warranty. Really disappointed

I really like this washer it works great! My only complaint is the soap holder is smaller than expected but I pause the wash to add more in the water so that sucks but the washer works great! Haven’t had it to long to say any negative

It was the best washer available the only downside is you cannot select your own water level which is really frustrating, either than that it is a great washing machine.

I was concerned by some negative reviews but I found that this washer works well for my family. Wash times take longer than my former agitator unit but because it does bigger loads you might say it's "a wash". You do have to remove clothes quickly to minimize wrinkles.

This Maytag top loading washing machine works very well with all my washing needs. It's HE, Where you can have different options in the types of your washing you want. My first Maytag Atlantis, lasted 13 years before I replaced it with this new model. Very good brand indeed.

Replaced 40 year old machines, so the tech takes getting used to. Things come out so dry that I’m not sure it is really cleaning, but assume it is. Clothes are good and no issues of harsh treatment as reported by others.

I had ordered this washer as initially I liked everything about it. Then I began to read reviews on several websites and found that about 10-20% of Purchasers had trouble with sheets and items being caught in the agitator to the point that a tech had to come out to undo it. The sheets were torn and had oil stains. Also they said the rebalancing didn’t work well and just too many problems. I live on the top floor of a condo, and need a machine that works well with no problems. I decided to go with a Speen Queen that offered 10 years in home labor and part’s warranty. I really like the smaller drum that uses more water to wash clothes of the SQ, and it works well. The Maytag looked good, and many people like it...I just didn’t want to encounter the problems that I kept reading about.
