This is by far the worst washer I have ever owned or used. Maytag should be ashamed of themselves. It doesn’t fill right or balance properly or do what you want it to, like clean clothes. I have had nothing but problems with it ever since I bought it in May 2018. I should have retuned it at the first sign of trouble. I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed and I have nothing positive to say about it.

Very happy to get rid of my LG front loader and the headaches with mildew on the door for this efficient top loader with an agitator.

If hadn’t purchased this out of box machine. I would have returned it! I’m not overly wild about the machine because it senses the water level and it would wash my clothes with little to no water and my clothes got holes. And these newer machines take 40 Mins to complete a cycle. Give me the machine with less bells and whistles. I’m

MY 28 yr old Kenmore leaked a bit and oil...washed better. Really liked window in lid to watch action, Full fill only way to COVER clothes- machine auto- left 1/4 load in air WHOLE cycle...never agitated enough to even draw under the water; locking lid can only add in small window of time, clothes in center were agitated to DEATH ...dry, and continuously while VERY slowly filling... twisting and pulling on...felt so sorry for them. Wash load took up to 1 and 1/2 HOURS !!! Returned A.S.A.P.

This machine is a piece of crap! First time it died 3 days after manufacture warranty expired. Did have an error code. Maytag did agreed to cover. Entire computer panels had to be replaced. Now 1 year later and it is DEAD AGAIN! This time it's totally dead, no power at all! Have repair plan with DTE, will have service in a couple days. Hoping they give me $$ to just have it replaced. Will never buy electronic washer again. That's IF I can find one that isn't!

...Just to give a little background.......I have been through a couple of washers in my lifetime..... About 20-25 years ago, I had purchased a top loading Kenmore impeller HE washer and matching dryer. Because the washer was a first generation model and HE was new in the U.S. at the time, I decided to purchase the warranty. The HE impeller washer took time to adjust to...no more agitation as I knew it, less water and definitely less detergent. Unfortunately, I never came to fully appreciate or accept the impeller functionality. At about the 2 year mark, the impeller began to have issues - thank goodness I had purchased the warranty because it served me well; I probably had the washer repaired at least 4 times in a 6 year period. Once the warranty ran out and the machine died again, it was time to move on and start over. So now, onto my next purchase.... a Whirlpool duet washer/dryer HE pair front loader. This time I did not purchase the warranty. By now, I was used to lower water levels, no agitation, less detergent and accepting life with a HE appliance. I did find myself missing a top loading machine like my former Kenmore model, even though that model had an impeller that I despised. With the whirlpool front loader, I found stuffing mounds of laundry - into what seemed like a tiny mouse-sized porthole - annoying. Yes, I'm physically capable of bending and twisting to shove laundry into the little porthole, I just didn't like to... so in my mind (simply my opinion), it was a bad design. Yes.... the front loaders are cool, look sleek and futuristic... but for me, I'd rather have functionality, practicality and a workhorse contender. I will be fair, my whirlpool front load washer did well for 9 years without any maintenance until recently, when I heard clunking (like I was washing tennis shoes) so I stopped the load and opened the door. Yikes! Pieces that look like razor-blades came tumbling out of the machine and oil stains had dripped all over my laundry. Argh!!!!!! Sorry, but I don't think I can forgive oil stains. So.....it was bye-bye to my HE front-loading Whirlpool washer; our relationship was good while it lasted. Fast forward to now... my current purchase....A Maytag!! I was determined to go back to an old school top load agitation-style washing machine model, if I could find one. I didn't need fancy dials/digits/colorful models that would drive me to the airport! I just wanted a basic solid high-performing machine that would wash clothes and get them clean. I needed a workhorse machine that could manage volume, because I had added dog rescue/fostering to my life which means I had lots more laundry to contend with since my last Whirlpool purchase. I now wash daily dirty sheets, towels, rugs and dog bedding. When I came across the maytag 4.7 cu ft. 11-cycle top-loading washer (model MVWB765FW) with an agitator....I couldn't believe it. Could it really be an old school, top-loading, agitation-style washing machine? Woot! So I meticulously researched several models online, did comparisons of their functions, features, and price and found that the Maytag 4.7 would be a good fit for me. I read comments from others that had purchased the washer before me and most were favorable. When reviewing comments, we all must keep in mind that the opinions of the purchaser (mine included) are based on one's former appliance experience and current needs. So if we had a feature on our former appliance that we enjoyed that's not carried over to our replacement appliance, we will be disappointed. That said, I was already used to HE and lower water levels and I've always halved the laundry detergent amount recommended by the manufacturer to ensure my clothes remain soap-free after the rinse cycle. Remember that the detergent manufacturers want you to use as much detergent as possible so they sell more detergent! I have not yet had to use the higher water fill feature on this new machine since I use a conservative amount of laundry soap. The noise level of the machine did not bother me - although in fairness to other reviewers that felt that the machine is noisy, my laundry room is located in the garage, so I hear very little. The large capacity works well for me since I'm frequently washing large items. It is a deep capacity machine for sure...I have no problem pulling washed items out of the bottom of the machine, but I'm about 5' 7" in height so I'd imagine that could be more challenging for those who are petite in stature. Some mentioned the locking lid as an annoyance, but you can pause the cycle and open the lid if needed. My guess is that the locking lid is a safety feature design on all washing machines now. I found the spin cycle to be amazing.... the clothes really wring out nicely. I had a lot of issues with the spin cycle on my former front loader and frequently had to run the spin cycle twice because the laundry - especially towels - were still wet and heavy after their original rinse and spin. Not with this Maytag! The strong wring cycle has definitely allowed me to cut my dryer time in half! The smokey glass top lid is a nice added bonus, as you actually see what's going on with the soap, water, agitation and spin levels. Nice touch maytag! The delivery was on time and the delivery men extremely professional. I was concerned that I might have to connect the washing machine water hoses myself, but the lead delivery man introduced himself as an independent contractor and he and his assistant set the machine up for me in its entirety. He balanced the machine and demo'd the features for me and made sure I was okay with delivery, set-up and model before he left. That was a nice surprise to be treated as a valued customer! W-T-G Best Buy in picking excellent local delivery service! I have had the machine for 5 days now and have probably done about 15 loads of laundry and am thrilled to be doing laundry with a top load agitator model again. I would definitely recommend this model if your life situation is similar to mine. For me, I was most concerned about purchasing a lemon, which in all honesty, can happen to anyone when purchasing any major consumer product. So, I did the math and figured out depreciation cost/risk ratio for my situation, and decided to purchase a 3 year warranty to somewhat ease my mind for the short term. I'm well aware that appliance manufacturers are now using "planned obsolescence" in their sales strategy and products are unfortunately no longer manufactured to last a lifetime. So the saying is true....they really don't make 'em like they used to!

I do not like this washer,it doesn’t put enough water in tub, and the sound is aggravating,I’ll go back to the front loaders although it’ conserves water at least the cloths are falling into the water all the time, where as the top loaders the water doesn’t cover all the load,

The machine works well but, after a couple years, developed a swelling squeaking nose during wash cycle. 4 trips from Geek Squad resulted in "live with it". So, 1) machine works well but may get noisy 2) Geek Squad protection worthless for this appliance

Don’t like that I can’t control water level, even with Deep Fill, which isn't the case at all. There is no deep fill!! I look inside when it’s agitating and there are items not even in the water!! I also can’t control rinse water temperature, the washer dictates that and it is cold. Not impressed at all with this washer. Another example of government dictating appliance operation and it is never for the better; just the opposite just like light bulbs and toilets.

I was so excited to buy a new washer. Until I attempted to wash clothes. Maytag, do you really think we are not intelligent enough to decide how much water Is needed to add to a load of laundry? I don’t appreciate A machine deciding how much water I want on my load of laundry. Of course this is true with all manufacturers of washers and dryer‘s. This is a sad day in America when we can’t choose how much water we can use in our washing machines! It is just an American!
