Commercial quality. Great results
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I reviewed many washers before purchasing this Maytag 5.2 Cu Ft washer. The 5.3 Cu Ft Maytag doesn't have this larger agitator. It makes all the difference! There are a few youtube reviews complaining about the noise and water level. Forget about it! I'm coming from an LG HE set that didn't last 7 years before rusting and the dryer drum motor failed! This washer is no louder than any other washer that I have experienced. The water levels are fine. The water levels are well above the clothes and this agitator really does the job! It has many water sense and wash cycles per load and it works perfectly. I witnessed at least 4 different wash cycles where the agitator and drum performed different actions. This is a great washer. Don't be fooled by any negative reviews you may come across. Those reviews are from the competition in my opinion! Also, this is made in the USA!

Broke after 4 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wonderful washer worked great for the most part. buyer beware that after 4 years of usage the washer stopped working. The cycle dial locked in the rapid wash and wouldn’t operate.

I love this washer!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Washer a month and a half ago and love this washer! It can wash a King comforter and sheets in one load and they come out clean. I've read other reviews before I purchased so I knew that it takes longer to wash then older washers, but that doesn't bother me. If you are short you will need a step stool or tongs to get to the bottom of it. The tub is really deep, but that's to be expected because of it's large capacity. I was really worried about it, but it ended up not being an issue. I'm 5'5 and reaching the bottom is a long stretch, but doable. So far I am happy with this purchase.

Some good features; some flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this washing machine for almost a year. I wanted the biggest top loading machine with an agitator that I could find, and this was it. I love the buttons and controls. I love the glass lid. I love the large barrel. In short, I do like the design. However, there are some issues. Echoing other reviews I have read, you need to know that a white residue will show up on certain dark fabrics. There does not seem to be any avoiding this, unless you put the individual piece of clothing through another cycle on deep fill without detergent, so that it gets as good a rinse as possible. Certain items, like a king size blanket I tried to clean (navy in color) doesn't have a chance - because of its size, additional rinses were ineffective. It's not even like you can brush the residue off. It is ground in / dried in. That being said, you have to wonder how effectively it is rinsing the detergent out of any of your clothes. Just because you can't see residue on lighter clothes, surely doesn't mean it's not there. The only way I know to combat this is to put in smaller loads, always on deep fill. This unfortunately defeats the whole purpose of getting a large machine, and also means I am spending more on water and electricity for the same size load I would have fit into a smaller machine. Not to mention those times I find that I have to run another cycle in order to rinse it through again. It seems that even when set on deep fill, the rinse cycle does not deep fill. I know they CAN make machines to work better -- they just don't, because of all the environmental requirements. The irony, like most so-called environmental initiatives, is that you end up using MORE energy than if they had simply made it to work right in the first place, allowing for adequate water fill-up to do your wash the right way. See how politics even works its way into controlling how well you can clean your clothes?! Apart from this issue, the clothes generally seem to clean well. Smaller items do get tangled up together pretty tightly, which I can see would damage certain clothing over time. As for noise, it is not a particularly noisy machine. It makes clicks and a few bangs when it changes cycles, and you can hear the pump working during the drain cycle. But the spin cycle is surprisingly quiet. This is an important feature for some, especially if your laundry placement is in earshot of your living space. I find it does a good job of spinning / draining the water from clothes, which helps with the drying time. I cannot comment on longevity, as I have had it a little less than a year. Typically, appliances don't last jig time anymore - another contradiction to their claims of being environmentally friendly, since these huge machines end up in a land fill long before their time, due to the fact that they are made to break, and the cost to repair is more than the cost to replace. So sad, senseless, and hypocritical.

Looks good, but difficult to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks good and has high capacity, but.... Although it has an agitator, this washer fills barely enough water to wet the clothes, so agitator is useless. With 'Deep Fill' turned off, the clothes do not even get 100% wet. Also, around every tenth load, it will shift all the jeans or towels to one side and vibrate so hard it moves to the end of the hoses before it shuts the spin cycle down. Wish we had went with the cheaper old-style top load.

Worked good while it lasted.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mother board broke within 3 months of getting it. luckily it was covered by the warranty and replaced. The whole thing broke 4 years later. One piece went out and broke the others, needing four things repaired and costing more than I originally paid just for the replacement parts.

Do not buy !! Disappointed !!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy!! Disappointed!! Lid breaks after time on the left side, looks like problems with the slow mechanism that is on that side that puts a great deal of strain on the lid connection when the lid is almost closed. This issue is not covered under Maytag guarantee and also is not covered under the extended 5yr guarantee from Best Buy.

Washer failed twice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Maytag washer in early December 2019 to replace an earlier Maytag that finally became too expensive to replace even though it was only ten years old. They brought in the new washer and dryer and installed it with no issues. Great we used it for about 12 days and then the washer dumped water all over our laundry room floor. What a mess. Called Best Buy and they were very good about getting at tech out to the house. It was determined that it needed to be replaced. Ok...exact replacement comes in and works for 19 days and, again, there is water all over the laundry room floor. Went back to Best Buy and indicated that I wanted those removed (washer and dryer) and replace them with a new model. The new units come in on 1/22/2020. Let's hope these don't fail...but just in case I bought the extended warranty. Same failure, same results....has to be design. I recall my wife saying Sunday while the washer was operating that there was a strange smell in the laundry room. I went in there and agreed...kind of like the smell with a Afresh cleaning. It was when I went into the laundry room perhaps 15 minutes later that I almost tripped on my way to the garage. There was water everywhere. I took a video and also took photos with wet paper towels indicating the breadth of the water spill. No water on the return or walls (that was my first place to look)

Complete design fail
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this washer and matching dryer. First mistake! This washer is a complete design fail. To start this washer doesn't fill like a normal washer. At most it fills 4 inches unless you use the bedding setting. It doesn't agitate, it works like a wash board, only moving clothes on the bottom of the tub. When washing clothes and water releases it doesn't spin with any water to help rinse out the soap. All clothes are pushed to the side when spinning out causing wrinkles. When using fabric softener the small amount of water used is released on the clothes that were pushed to the sides. Your laundry isn't cleaned or washed correctly, isn't rinsed correctly and comes out totally wrinkled. It is causing my towels to smell awful and ruining my clothes. I've never had a maytag and wish I would of never bought this. I'm out of a large amount of money with a washer that doesn't clean properly. Very unhappy!

Get the cheapest washer. It’s way better.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this. I went back to top loaded with agitator because it cleans clothes better but this machine doesn’t do a very good job regardless. One thing that really annoys me is there is no soak option SO to soak you’ll need to pause the washer. Well, once you’ve paused it and soaked the “smart” machine can’t figure out what do when you unpause it so it starts all over or will just drain making you start all over.

Not Recommended (stopped working after 25 months)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this washing machine exactly 25 months ago, and it's been fine.......until now. It appears the touch control panel has something wrong with it, and none of the functions work. It has power, but the control panel just beeps whenever I try to do anything -- change the water temperature, choose the wash cycle and PUSH THE START BUTTON. It's useless. I tried to call for help, but it's too old. The machine is 2 years old........TWO years old! My last Maytag was 9 years old when it needed to be replaced, which is acceptable, but replacing a machine that is two years is not. The repair for the new touch control panel with labor is close to the cost of a new machine, and that is not a guaranteed fix....a second part may still be needed if that doesn't work. I do not recommend this product and I will not be purchasing a third Maytag washing machine in this short amount of time. The life expectancy of an appliance should be more than TWO years, and when it's not, the company should want to do something to rectify the situation.

Great Washer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After learning the correct settings for extra water in the cycle, We are very happy with the washer. Even washing a comforter was no problem for this machine. The key is understand your settings so that you can fill the tank with more water. The normal wash option will not give you extra water.

Horrible!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have bought Maytag all my life! Even grew up with them. Last one died after 24 years. Bought this one 3/4/2019 based on the reviews. Even though I heard Maytag is no longer like they used to be. NEVER Again! I called them in March as it wasn't emptying the soap or getting the clothes clean. Was told to use HE soap only and that would fix it. I have had them out to replace the part # w11172234 for Low Flow water in April. Same problem last three weeks. Finally showed LF code 6/3/2019. ,Repairman is to come out again tomorrow for the same problem. Part probably will be out of stock (no wonder) and on back order again, to delay another week. I no longer want this piece of garbage! I want it replaced with NOT another Maytag! I am beyond fed up with this worthless garbage of a washing machine! R3epair man needs to declare it a lemon. Best buy will honor my request according to Donald at this Katy location when I get the RMA #. .Maytag 0 Stars if I could. Best Buy Katy TX 5 stars.
