I bought this in 2017. It works fine, except for now it's leaking water. Even if the fix is under warranty, it'll be a pain to find a repair man, get him out here, pay a deductible, etc. Why can't they make things that last.

This machine is very substandard, it leaves white residue on the clothes, and they need to be washed again, not only that, but after only approx 8 to 10 months, the PLASTIC GEARS, that's right, I said Plastic gears are grinding and man am I glad I purchased the extended warranty, and will update on this to let people know how that turns out, in the interim, I will challenge the Maytag people to get in touch with me to let them know my concerns, still nothing yet, not good, looks like they don't stand behind there products, not a lot of businesses do not these days, very sad...

Had this washer for 4 1/2 years and then the transmission bearings went out...refund coming as I bought the protection plan.

I wish I could give zero stars because Maytag engineers drop the ball on this one. I've used Maytag appliances for many years ie… dishwashers, washers, dryers etc... I'm actually replacing a Maytag 2000 series front loader which was ok, unfortunately after 5yrs it fell apart. (naturally after the warranty period) Nonetheless, this washer is an absolute nightmare, that's funny, as of this writing, the Maytag technician just showed up, unfortunately he felt the wrath of a man that just lost all patience along with his temper. I walked the technician down stairs to show him this pos (you wouldn't believed I just finished a load right before he arrived) and explain to me who designs a washer that can leave some clothes wringing wet and some partially dry? even after several washes! really? I wish I had Maytag CEO Ralph Hake in front of me! let him explain this fiasco! In the end he wouldn't be a happy camper. Before all the nay sayers ask about washer set up and end user input. I'm here to tell you 1) YES I READ THE MANUAL BACKWARDS AND FORWARD. 2) BESTBUY TECHS SET UP THE UNIT THE SECOND TIME! Second machine same result. Never again,

Wow, this is really sad that Maytag continues to make this machine. Our LG front loader went after 10 years of service. Before that, we had a Maytag Toploader that worked well for many years. I went online to Best Buys looking at what was out there and read lots of positive reviews on Maytag 53 Cu Ft 11Cycle TopLoading Washer Model: MVWB835DW, so we got one. It's been two months and my wife has tried everything to make this machine work, but with no luck. Without an agitator, the machine has to spin super fast, which in turn destroys the clothes that are being washed. We are talking, pulls in knitted items, jeans, and shirts that come out with white veins running through them. Mind you, no bleach has ever been used in this new machine. And, did I mention the wrinkles? Wow! A washing machine should not be a source of anxiety, and unfortunately, this two-month-young Maytag Bravos XL has become just that. I'm heading into Best Buys today in hopes that I can trade it in for something else. Keep your fingers crossed!! Maytag, there is a problem with this machine = please pull it from the market and stop selling it. You have a reputation to live up too. You need to step up and do the right thing.

This review does not reflect on Best Buy. This is a review of Maytag and this horrible "washing" machine. Words escape me for the disdain I have for this thing. Doesn't matter where you buy it... eventually you will end up buying another machine. The drum on this machine is massive. Which is great until you have to get the last few items out of the drum. If you are under 5' 5" or 5"6" you may take a header into the drum trying to reach the bottom. Who knows you probably could get stuck, I think I saw a video on the internet about that. Well, at least the items on top are easy to get, right? Well , no. If you load it more than half full it will not add enough water to even get everything wet. Even on deep wash you will pull out clothes that are still dry in spots after an hour of being beaten around mercilessly. Remember the good old machines that would do a large load in about 25 minutes? Not this thing, almost an hour, minimum, set to the lightest soil level. So you wash 2 pair of pants and 3 shirts set on deep water wash and wait an hour. What you pull out of the drum will be a twisted mass of clothes resembling the twisted, burned out wreckage of the hindenburg. This will require every piece be shaken and stretched out before going into the dryer. Otherwise everything will come out of the dryer wrinkled. In the end if you are looking for a washing machine, stay away from this one. The only pro I can say for it is that it is stylish. It looks good in the laundry room. Are far as washing clothes the only thing that could be worst would be washing your stuff on a rock in the creek. But then again...At least your clothes would be clean. Shopping for a new machine now, I've had enough. This one will be on the curb soon for the junk man. I would not feel right about trying to sell it to someone so I will just take the hit on a one year old $700 washer. Can you wash clothes in the dishwasher?

DO NOT BUY THIS! We purchased the Bravos XL washer and dryer set in February 2016 thinking that it would last for at least 5 years. In December 2017, a year and a half after purchase, the washer stopped working and displayed an error code that the user interface or cpu wasn’t working. Even though the one-year warranty was up, we called Maytag and asked them to fix this defective washer. They agreed and sent a repairperson out and replaced the entire board in the washer. Yesterday, again, this washer stopped working and gave us the error code that the user interface and cpu isn’t working. We again called Maytag and spoke with “Cena” who told us that it was a “Goodwill Gesture” that they fixed it the first time, and that they wouldn’t be fixing it again. This washer was maintained well, was only used twice a week in a household of 3, and resides in a newer build house with updated wiring, etc. Keep in mind Maytag won’t stand behind defective products they produce. I recommend avoiding Maytag and going with a company that will stand by their products.

I am so dissappointed with this washing machine. Not only do I hate the control set up, but it just does not clean the clothes. It quit working after 6 months and it took a month and a half to get it repaired. We waited 9 days to have it looked at and another 2 weeks for the part to come in they put us on the schedule again (at least 5days, considered a rush) to come and put the part in. The saddest part is the salesman knew instantly when we called what the problem was, but the repairmen don’t carry the part on their trucks. I just wish I could get my money back. The product was obviously not tested and tried before it was put into production. Not only poor engineering, but poor leadership to put into production without testing product thoroughly.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH RESIDUE ON CLOTHES. I WASHED BEDDING THE FIRST TIME I USED THE WASHER. I HAD TO REWASH EVERYTHING. I ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE DEEP WASH NEVER FILLING UP LIKE OWNERS GUIDE SAID. ALSO IF YOU OPEN LID DURING WASH CYCLE YOU CAN SEE NOT ENOUGH WATER AND CLOTHES ON TOP ARE DRY AND BARELY MOVING WITH THIS TYPE OF AGITATOR. ITS REALLY NOT AGITATING ANYTHING BUT THE USER UGH!! I WISH I HAD TAKEN A PICTURE OF THE DRY CLOTHES HALF WAY THROUGH WASH CYCLE.

Purchased this unit Dec 2016 and expected it to last at least 10 yrs. The control panel suddenly quit working for no apparent reason ... service call revealed new white console and control unit need replacing - Maytag parts totaling $650 to repair not including labor. Forget the 10 yr warranty as it only covers drive motor and wash basket. Very disappointed that Maytag manufactures such poor quality machine in this price range. Do Not Buy this unit without an extended warranty to cover these parts ... you have been warned.

Have had this washer for exactly 4.5 years and it was making a horrible clunking sound. Had Maytag repair man out today. Gearbox went out. Will cost around $400 to fix. Had purchased the extended warranty but it expired 6months ago. Went and bought a cheap washing machine to replace this. Not impressed with the wash quality anyways, so not worth it to fix. Always washed on deep water wash with extra rinse to get clothes even modestly clean. Super annoyed that this thing didn't even last 5 years!!!

I am so disappointed I have to write this review. We purchased this washer and matching dryer for my parents about 5 years ago. It was a great set, I wished I had it in our home. When our washer eventually died (it was over 20 year old), I didn't research washers, I excitedly ran out and bought the Maytag Bravos XL set, even though I didn't need the dryer. I didn't even blink an eye at the cost, I knew this was what I wanted. Once got the machine, I was disappointed in it's performance. This was no longer a quick cycle and max extract didn't wring the clothes out as well as it had on my parent's machine. I figure they changed the settings and it was my fault for not looking in it more. We have now had the machine a little over 2 years and it started making a loud noise when spinning. Since the dryer never seemed to dryer overly well, I called right away to have a tech come look at both. The washer requires a new gear case, with service, the cost is over $450. It is not under warranty. Unfortunately, the service tech told me this is a common problem he sees all too often. The tech said our dryer is fine, the washer wasn't wringing the clothes out as well as it should, which is why I was seeing increased dry time. Knowing what I know now, I believe we got a machine that was bad from the start. I sad because the machine says 10 year warranty and, after looking in it, it is very limited on what parts are actually covered. If the great case was covered, I would have no issue paying for service. This is really unfortunate that an investment like this doesn't even last 2.5 years. That's no acceptable in my book. We will be shopping for a washer this weekend and will stay away from the Maytag and Whirlpool companies. Which is all I bought before.

Zero stars. 3rd broken part in under two years. ‘DRN’ codes require you to take it apart to remove lint, ‘F5E3’ lid lock failures, overheating - this thing is literally the worst washer I have ever owned. Each part typically runs about $100 - so I am doing myself a favor and throwing this junk away next garbage day.

I have had my machine for 4 years now. I have been satisfied up until it started making a tremendous roaring sound in the spin cycle. Had a Maytag authorized service rep out and was informed due to the design of the internals and where the bad bearing was it was not feasible to replace the bearing. Cost to replace are more than 75% of replacement. If you want your washer to last or to be repairable you might look at another unit.

Suspension and berrings went out after 4 years. Quoted a repair bill of $700. I wont buy Maytag again. Very disappointed in the quality and durability of this product.

I bought this in November '16 and had it delivered and set up in December. It has been a great washer for the past 6 months till this past week. It appears that during the rinse cycle it has issues. At 12 and 18 minute mark it gets stuck and keeps cycling continuously. I started a load of wash at 1 am and when I woke up at 4 am it was still cycling at the 12 minute mark. My last washer I had lasted 12 years with no problems. I am not happy about this.

I hate this thing so much. I should have returned it but wanted to give it a fair chance in case it was me. IT IS NOT ME! I spend hours detangling hopelessly knotted-up laundry that has thrown the washer into out of balance. All load sizes. All load size mixes. Grinding plastic gears make you fearful the horrible thing is about to explode into a thousand tiny parts. I love the matching dryer.

Very disappointed. I am a life long Maytag user. I believe the motor still works good. But just a year after purchase, its not turning on at all . I am guessing its a control panel issue which is not covered under warranty. Maytag makes great motors , wish their electronics did the same.

Washer started out amazingly. But I’m going on 2 1/2 yrs and it works when it wants to. Been repaired a few times already. Sadly it’s also rusting. Wish I had never given away my 20 yr old Kenmore. In comparison of reliability this Maytag lags way behind. In comparison of how well it washes... this over priced machine does not come close to leaving my items cleaned. Once this one completely dies I’ll be looking for an old Kenmore again
